Our go to dinner spot for late, quick, and inexpensive tasty meals. We found this spot coincidentally about 2 years ago and we definitely enjoy the authentic Mexican food. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. You order at the counter and sit in the patio style dining area. I always order the potato tacos and they're crunchy and delicious. The hubby orders different dishes all the time; however, enjoys the wet burrito immensely. The Mexican coke in a bottle washes it all down for me. The hubby loves the Jamaica. My family and i have been coming to El Patio Drive in for over 20 years. It is a small Mexican resteraunt hidden on Lincoln. They are one of my all time favorite spots for authentic Mexican cuisine and they have my favorite rolled taquitos with guacamole. The employees are always welcoming and friendly and always make sure our orders come out quick. I do have to be honest and say the surrounding business aren't the best and parking is often hard to find if you go on a weekend .But i assure you that the food is definitely worth checking out. We have been customers here for over 30 years and have enjoyed their food & hospitality, however the food quality has dropped off immensely. The beef tacos for example have become very oily with stale lettuce. Some of the other items on the menu just are not as good like they used to be. So sad, as we ate their food often & recommended their fare to others. After several other visits, the good food taste just wasn't there anymore. I never had chile relleno stuffed with meat and I only like it stuffed with cheese. If you are hungry, I would recommend this dish. It was very filling and only cost $4.95 plus tax. I, highly stress and advise to utilize caution in the evening. Why? Adjacent to the restaurant is a very sketchy bar that draws a certain unpleasant crowd. On the same note, parking is notorious in the evening. Even the designated parking for El Patio Drive In. It's occupied by bar patrons. They're not a fun crowd to be exposed to. Inside: ordering menu board. Menudo is served only on Saturday and Sunday's until qualities last. Y'all can dig in. I'm solid. Pozole is where it's all. Ample and spacious seating inside. Great source of imported Mexican drinks and norm US genre. Plus a nice selection of imported Mexican ice cream. I miss the nostalgia of the first El Patio In, aesthetics was horrendous and the inside didn't. Cramped ordering window, very few booths. If you got one. Most odds it was dirty, lol. Ahhh! I feel the food in flavor and in serving has declined. The heart that once the original location had this lacks. Truly a shame. I phone ordered. Reiterated the order and red back. Upon arrival I re-mention and red back. Figured all good in Yelp paradise. We ordered One three chicken enchiladas in red sauce. Instead it was beef and dry. Bad move, amigos. The hot sauce that comes with it. I could drink. I had the epic Chile relleon burrito. I'm waiting for the feels. I'm waiting to cry, or being transported back to the first location only to be rudely reminded that once this was our family staple and one we supported it being family owned. The food is very good. I crave their shredded beef tacos. The beans and rice are delicious. Best chili rellenos I've ever had, plump and juicy. They put like a little bit of chili Colorado meat on the top. The meat is always tender and lean. The chili Verde burritos are very filling and enough for two people. The tortillas taste homemade. The best thing hands-down about this place is their salsa. It reminds me of the salsa at this little Mexican restaurant in Cerritos. It was called the Red Chili and it was in the Home Depot parking lot by the old Spires restaurant. Sadly it's no longer there. I think there's an In-N-Out where Spires used to be. Anyway the salsa at El patio is very much like that. Their soups are delicious, I've tried the albondigas and the posole. They have Menudo on the weekends until they run out. I was craving Mexican food decided to try somewhere I've never ordered from. I ordered via DoorDash. I ordered the 2 chicken hard taco plate. I specifically said only beans no rice. What do I get all rice no beans!!! Obviously a bad first impression won't order again. The tacos tasted ok nothing amazing just ok. The red salsa tasted ok as well. Who ever handling these orders need to read the special instructions better or maybe have the options changed on the menu to prevent incorrect orders like mine. I love the food here and always been a big supporter of this place. The workers are very nice especially the owner. The problem I have with this place is that it's mega expensive now. What the hell happened? My favorite is the chile relleno burrito but at 10 bucks?wtf? I would even give it a pass if it was a big burrito but seriously The cost amount to make this burrito is less than $2. Coming from a restaurant industry I know my cost. So you double the price which makes it $4 and that covers your overhead. Add another 50% for profit and you have a $6 burrito at best making great profit.
