We waited and waited to be seated finally got to a table and ordered our drinks and when the waiter brought them he didn't bring what I ordered I didn't correct it as he wasn't paying enough attention anyway . There was a loud party going on and drunk people kept pouring in and out of the banquet room . It was my birthday too and couldn't even enjoy the time there with my family . We went in a Sunday afternoon and i was surprised that the football game was on, normally on some Mexican restaurants they dont so that was a plus... the volume was on mute, and in the background there was Spanish music not to loud but a good level to able to talk. I order the enchilas zuisa? I believe that's what is called i called it susia lol idk why... with a Cadillac Margarita... it definitely hit the spot! I left the restaurant with a very good buzz! We were done with our first round of salsa, and a minute later he brings another round... later when we were finished the waiter offered if we wanted more salsa! i just loved that! The times i had come its been perfect timing because there is usually no wait time, we get our table right away. Our last visit they gave us the option to seat whatever we wanted. My husband and I are regulars here, every taco Tuesday and at least once on the weekends for menudo. They have the best food and service. I was getting my car worked on across the street today and remembered this restaurant. I used to eat here all of the time when I worked in Upland, but hadn't been here for a while since leaving that particular job. What a treat. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa was pretty good (could lower score because the salsa isn't the BEST, its good though), but the shrimp tacos with guacamole are the BOMB. Been coming here for a few years now and all the food is good. I typically come for the menudo and as a kind of self proclaimed menudo critic this is the best in the area. Nice dark red color with all the trimmings including a chili powder to spice it up more. The tortilla soup and albondigas are very good. Enchiladas, tostada salad with a choice of four meats or no meat is excellent. The only negative is at times they can be a little slow on the service side. read more

Nasty. This is the second time I've tried this place. I hope I don't get food poisoning. There is no love in their food. I don't even believe the owner would allow their own kids to eat this. I have never gagged after I smelled menudo. Ever. Beyond that. The guacamole was black. It looks like a mixture of OLD guacamole and new guacamole. And it tasted like it too. The quesadilla tasted like meat taken from a trash can. This place is cheap. They use the worse quality food and charge you up for everything. I will never go to this place ever again. I'm just hoping and praying my wife and I don't get sick because she's pregnant. If you are the owner. Don't get upset. Improve the quality of your food. If it's because we are in COVID and you are trying to get your business back. Now is not the time to skimp with poor quality food and poor care in how you prepare your food. I came here because Yelp said they had micheladas. They are ok, they are not consistent. I asked for a michelada and a menu and sat at the bar. No one was attending at the bar. I waited and finally someone came and asked again what I wanted to drink . He then asked if I wanted chips and salsa and I agreed plus asked for a menu. So this night started with a simple order placed by my mother of a mango margarita on the rocks, the waiter managed to mess that up and pawn it off on a nearby table. Brought her the correct margarita after helping take another order. Next, it was time to order food... Me, being a vegetarian, know what I can and cannot eat. I ordered the chili relleno burrito, knowing it was meatless. After a short wait I was brought a chili verde burrito. So I called a busboy over who apologized immediately and took my plate. The waiter walked by four times in the time between me not having a plate and my mother eating, not once stopping to see if everything was okay. When confronted by myself and my mother about it, he went to pull out his ticket and try to prove me wrong instead of apologizing for the mistake. He then stood there and didn't say a word, just remained still until asked to leave. Now, as I sit here and type this, he continues to walk by the table, glancing over but not stopping to apologize. I've been going to El Perico for about 10 years now, I've even followed them across town when they moved. They have excellent tableside guac and and the services is always good. Food has gotten a little greasy over the years (i want people to read that and get turned off to trying the place though...its not gonna get you sick or anything like that) so they only get 3 stars....still a good place to eat though. read more
