Ok. We came here because of the reviews. They were not entirely accurate. To start, the salsa was good but hot. I like hot salsa but just so you know this one burns. The beans that come with the chips are good. I recommend you get a canned soda because the fountain drinks tasted like they were made with moldy water. Now the food. I had a chimichanga and it was mediocre at best. It was full of rice and the ratio was off. Hardly any meat inside and what I did get tasted like vinegar. It was pastor. I've had pastor from a lot of places but it never tasted like this. My wife got a tamale, taco, and sopa, all ala carte. The tamale was reminiscent of the canned tamales you may have had as a kid. The taco was ok but the chicken was completely un seasoned and I marinated. The sopa was chewy and the shredded beef had little flavor. This place might be ok if you were really hungry and didn't care what it tastes like. I know that is a far fetched idea, but I wouldn't come back unless I was starving. read more

If I could put a -star I would absolutely put negative ...I am extremely unsatisfied with what I ordered we usually come to Picosito for family PARTYS and get together but never again customer service is horrible... Eaten here lots of times. Like the service. Like most dishes and a few I don't. To each their own taste. I have my favorites so I do like to go there. Nice place for groups. Very good straight ahead Mexican food. We went at an off-hour and the large room had only two other tables occupied. Not popular? Well they were setting up a table for 25 for dinner, so ... We split a Chile Relleno plate but added an additional Relleno. We each ordered a small taco as well. We needn't have as the Chiles Rellenos we more than enough even splitting the rice and beans. I'm glad I ordered the taco though because the carne asada was excellent. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Gustine. read more

I purchased food to go from this restaurant on Saturday, July 11th. The employee behind the counter taking my order did not have on a mask. Another employee stops by to talk to her and she also was not wearing a mask. I can guarantee the employees cooking/prepping my order was not wearing a mask either. To put it lately, the food was horrible, wasted $30. The shrimp tacos has zero taste. The rice tasted like garlic. The carne asada burrito had more beans than rice and meat. The guacamole, it looked like baby poop sprinkled with onions and cilantro. I've never seen such a sad looking guacamole. Needless to say, I will never be eating at this place again. read more

Don't let this hidden little restaurant fool you! The service was great and the food was AMAZING! We had the asada wet burrito, a bean sope, guacamole and fried ice cream. The asada burrito was delicious! They prepare the meat and grill it like authentic carne asada. The sope was perfect was delicious beans and all the fixings. The guacamole was a perfect blend of ripe avocados, onions, tomatoes and lime. I definitely will be coming back! Did I mention our waitress was amazing! She was the only one and had a full house. This spot is my favorite in Gustine!! Their beans are my most favorite. Their meat is great quality. Every meal I've ordered has been great! The girls up front are always sweet. The owner even delivered my food once with I was in quarantine! They offer chips, beans and salsa when you dine in. During take out you can request chips and salsa if they don't already include it. So before I might have yelled about this place. I loved it!! The food was amazing and the service was great. However now that they have new owners and new waitresses and different food options I'm not happy. The waitress never checked on us. She was taking a food order while bringing me my food. I couldn't get her so anyone's attention to bring more napkins. Never came to check on us. When I finally was able to ask her for more napkins and lemons and jalapeños to my surprise at the end when we got our bill they charged us extra for all this!! $1 extra for each!!!!!! WTFFFF I HATE WHEN EXPENSIVE RESTAURANTS DO THIS!! Or any restaurant for any matter!! If your going to charge extra for jalapeños or salsa you should let your customers know. It's complete bull crap!! $3 extra dollars for jalapeños and a small plastic container of salsa and lemons. Needless to say I won't be going back!! I used to come here all the time! :( read more

Good food, but service is usually slow. There is a decent variety as far as small town eatery, however this is more of a taco truck type of food service, but there are seafood options and full plate meals. I have yet to have anything I really dislike, but it's nothing extra special. Still on of the better Mexican food options in Gustine. Additionally, portion sizes are large. Would give this place zero stars if I could. Literally the last 4 times I have came to this restaurant, my order has been screwed up. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. This was the last time I will ever come here. Either the servers aren't writing the orders down right or their cooks just don't care how people want their food cooked. The food is good don't get me wrong but the service and management is trash unfortunately. If this place had new owners and all new employees who cared it would be a 5 star place. If I could give this place a 0 I would. Horrible service. I ordered my food over the phone and was told that it would be ready in 30min. I arrive at the time of pick up and told that it would be out in a little while. I ended up waiting for almost an hour more and then they come up to me and ask "what my order was again". Micheladas here are really good. They have no problem making them to your liking. Food is good. Price is good. Service good. Glad to have this place in town as everything else is far away and Campestre in Newman truly sucks. Update. Have been to this place various times and it is still great. Would be nice if they are able to one day expand to include a bar area. With the population increasing in near by towns, its something the owners should plan for.
