Saw the sign for taco Tuesday. I really just wanted a quick snack so decided to stop. Large menu with NO prices listed. UGH! I waited my turn in line and noticed a sign for the taco Tuesday tacos. Chicken and pork. When I finally got to the register I asked the price. She told me and I ordered one carne asada taco. I was surprised that they give you a small bag of chips with your order. I really wanted chips but only had $3 and they only accepted cash. The taco was very tasty and satisfying. I'd stop in again if I'm in the area. read more

I've been coming to El Picoso for at least a decade, way before they moved to the new spot. Yes, they moved 1 store down to a bigger area on the corner of the mini mall. Unfortunately this did not solve the parking problem of this place and for the whole strip here, parking is terrible. Food, is okay. I'll tell you a secret, their carne asada is roast beef, not flap meat, so it's a cheap cut and that's why people in their reviews for this place talk about the asada not tasting right. Since they moved to the bigger spot, there's more tables than before but it still crowds up during the busy times, so if the parking lot is full, most likely the tables are going to be full up as well. One thing that keeps me coming here is their prices are usually lower than the other places in the area. They got rid of a couple of the snobbier ladies at the front, so there has been a minor improvement in that area. Oh, and they don't have current prices posted, so that's quite annoying as well. They do need to fix that. But considering the prices in comparison to other places in the area, I'd have to recommend. That's always a big check mark for me. read more

One of the better spots to get sopes from a Mexican restaurant. The sope shells were soft and tasty, though the overall flavor was average since the meat could have used a bit more seasoning. I haven't tried other items on the menu yet, but it's still a solid option, especially because sope shells can easily come out hard or stale unless they're made in-house. read more

Great food, always tasty and consistent. Staff is okay, not very friendly and very stingy with the salsa, carrots, lemons and cucumbers. They ration them out instead of having a self serve salsa bar. Cash only but they have an ATM in restaurant. Be careful when in parking lot, tends to be a lot of homeless and panhandlers. We came for the burritos and were disappointed. We ordered one asada burrito, one bean and cheese burrito, one kids chicken nugget meal with fries, and two drinks. The meat on the ASADA burrito was subpar. The bean and cheese was ordinary. The kids menu chicken nuggets tasted like cardboard. The inside of the restaurant had several flies ( moscas ). The AC vent is full of VISIBLE dirt (see picture). To top it all off; it's a CASH ONLY restaurant. The service girls were nice and the food came quickly. Please do better. This place was recommended by a family member so we decided to give a try. It all started going downhill when we were barely ordering, I guess the girl taking our order was new or something but she got our order wrong. My daughter doesn't eat chilli and I asked for 2 tacos I got 3 with everything on them including chilli. When I told them to change it because my daughter doesn't eat spicy some other lady told me no because we didn't tell order them that way "which I did". My wife had to get up and literally argue with them about this until they gave in at that point we were irritated and lost our appetite. I have lived here and this was my family favorite dinner ever. I came in after trying to call 4x in row. Repeatedly put on held for long times then hung up on. Very rude. I approached the counter to order very rude looking cashiers no smile no friendly attitude. I used to love the older lady who was here for years. She was always kind. Service was rude unless you spoke Spanish. She gave us cups with lose lids (she did warn us) but then gave the next guy a lid that fit. This is one of our go to spots. Just keep in mind the parking lot is pretty small and it is CASH ONLY. I love that they offer burrito bowls for low carb options and that they have calls de rez. Decided to try something new and I was really disappointed. The place looks nice and clean to eat at least. Then when I ordered they got my order wrong, guess the girl taking my order was new but that doesn't bother me. Until I got the food for daughter I asked for plain tacos and they gave me everything on it including chilli and my daughter doesn't eat spicy. So I asked them they got it wrong then another lady argued with me saying that it wasn't on the receipt so they couldn't take it back. At this point I was irritated about this whole situation. They took it back with attitude and I was looking at them so they wouldn't spit in my daughter's food or something foul but the cooks literally crowded my daughters plate trying to hide whatever the hell they were doing. Here's what we tried and the rating. Asada burrito - 3 stars. Not much meat to speak of and tasted mostly rice and beans. The pieces of meat were small and chewy. Carnitas burrito - 2 stars. Ditto on the comments for asada burrito. Carnitas was pretty shredded -!; I prefer chunks. Tacos de buche and lengua - 4 stars. The buche and lengua were the stars of the meal. That and the salsas. My fiancé has always wanted to try this spot and last time it was closed so today we caught them open came around 5:30 and man was it getting packed we came just in time before rush hour I feel and I noticed a lot of people phone in orders so they don't have to wait ... Took my family here on recommendation from my barber. We all absolutely love the food. Location is a little sketchy but the food and the reasonably low prices (compared to other Mexican restaurants) make it all worth it! Food tastes like good home-cooking but without slaving away in the kitchen! Service is efficient and no-nonsense. We've been here twice and it is our new favorite restaurant! They lost a faithful customer.My husband has been a customer of Picoso since they opened, He loved going there on a weekly basis he never complains about anything however yesterday he was given one salsa he requested a second one green and the guy at the register said I have to charge you for a second one. This used to be one of my favorite spots since I was a kid, a lot has changed ever since it got a new owner, today I went in for 3 super burritos, my son asked for salsa they lady said it was already in the bag, she didn't even ask what kind we wanted, no one at my household like the green we all love the red, she gave us 2 green and 2 red I went in and asked to trade the green, the lady at the front gave me an annoyed look and just handed me the red, lady I'm spending $40 bucks on 3 burritos and I only get 4 salsas total and you decide which ones I get? Service is always a 2 or 3 star but the food is good and very inexpensive. Parking can be an issue is limited for the small plaza. Restrooms were out of service. Ambiance is loud and noisy but it's structure it self. Tvs are on and lots of seating. Red hot sauce is delicious. read more

We came across this joint by looking on google for Menudo near Duarte. I was a bit hungover and tire from 3 days at Disneyland and Universal Studios so menudo it was. The joint is in a crappy shopping center, which usually means food will be good, and it wasn't a disappointment. My Son ordered a simple quesadilla which was huge he only had about half of it because he was dull. Cheese was nice and runny and flour tortilla nice and crispy just like he likes them. My mom and my daughter order Pozole which came in a huge portion, it was super tasty and full of flavor again not a disappointment. My wife order Menudo, which was different taste of what we usually have up in northern Cali but same no disappointment. I ended up ordering Huevos rancheros which came with a side of salad rice and beans , flour tortillas. You maybe asking yourself why not menudo? Well my wife never finishes her meal neither does my daughter so if I order menudo I would end up eating my stuff plus theirs. The Aguas Frescas where on point, Jamaica , Horchata and piña. Over all great food. Now to the good part, why 4 , well service, lack of it and it's understandable since the place was super busy but..... When the client is infront of you , they are your priority.
