The service has gone downhill since they opened! When they first opened they had about 8 to 10 workers. The last two times I've been there they had only 4-5 workers and customer service was terrible and had to wait 25 minutes for 6 crunchy tacos and Double chicken bowl. Tacos were really greasy and not much chicken in it. Apparently this restaurant is not doing very well! I drive by on my way to work at 5:00 almost everyday and used to see pretty full parking lot and now days hardly any cars! Management needs to change quickly or this El Polo loco may not last much longer! Decided to go back 3 days ago and see if customer service has improved. It was about 4:30 and only 2 other people in restaurant eating. I was the only customer ordering and it still took them about 3-4 min to take my order. So NO the service has not improved. Only reason I went back was because some of the food like the double chicken bowl is pretty good. Just wish the service would improve and I may go more often! read more

Dry chicken. Not once but many times. Overcooking chicken is just terrible if your a chicken joint. Same result every time. Dry chicken. Its not cheap either. I bet your home cooked chicken is better. Just throw in pinto beans/ rice and tortillas. read more

So happy to see El Pollo Loco making its way to the DFW Metroplex. The menu has changed a bit since I was a regular in the Phoenix area but for the better. They now have bowls and updated salads that are both excellent. The location in Bedford is new, so it's nice and clean inside. Even with the long lines the staff is quick to get you through the order process and they do it with a smile. El Pollo Loco is all about grilled chicken. Nothing else. Don't ask for any beef or pork and don't expect any variations of fried chicken. When you walk in, you can see several large grills behind the counters where the "magic" happens. I like the transparency a lot- you can see them preparing your meals- nothing to hide. The chicken is wonderful, great tasting and always cooked just right. My most recent trip I ordered the double chicken burrito, which was delicious. The portions are pretty big so bring your appetite. The burritos and salads are a la carte but don't overlook the side dishes. The ranchero beans are excellent, cooked with green chilis and spices. The main dishes are "plates" where you get pieces of chicken (white, dark, mix) with 1-2 sides. Expect longer lines since this may become a rather popular restaurant in the area, but stick with it. Tried the shrimp tostada salad w/o beans and mango salsa. It was super fresh and tasted very good. There was a salsa bar and l added pico de gallo, onions and avocado salsa (very good). My son had their Classic burrito which he liked a lot. Will definitely be back to try something else. read more

Being that my wife is from Cali and whenever we go to Cali, we always manage to eat at El Pollo Loco and In-N-Out. So we were excited to see El Pollo Loco open its first doors here in the Metroplex, but weren't very happy with it. We both felt that the chicken was dry and expensive. It wasn't the same flavor as I've had in Cali. We've been eating at Pollo Regio and we feel its not only a better deal than this place, but also better tasting food. read more

Very good food and great to have another food option in the area. Parking can become very congestive at times. The guacamole bowls are very very good. One thing which was poorly designed is the location for the Salsa bar. Located right next to the front counter and the pick up area. Other than that, Great quick service and good food. read more

We placed our order for delivery. The driver brought on sack then cam back and said that was wrong and handed us another sack, soup missing, no plastic ware, napkins, sauce or anything that everyone else does. Called the manager, he didn't know who delivered it of how to refund what we paid for and did not get. then just hung up on us! Food is always great and just love the taste of El Pollo Loco!I was at ends today. Had an order submitted and when I got there, which was 2 minutes after the hour of prep completion and arrived at the counter. I found no one to tend to me at the register. What I did find was a latino and a white female sweeping and mopping upon arrival, along with the manager and kitchen staff congregating, not paying attention. The white girl stopped cleaning, came over and asked how may I help you and told her about my mobile order. She looked at the online order receipt printer and there it was, my order still awaiting to be viewed, 20 minutes after it was submitted. She looked at the other latino lady mopping, then the manager came over and she sort of smirked at me. No apology given, asked the cook for my order to be completed then. I do not know how they joke here, but felt the white girl upon leaving the register area was belittled as staff smiles at her. I really hope this was not belittling or bullying as that is how I took it. I don't care for race as any discrimination or belittling gets me very upset -- no matter who it is. Well, the manager was courteous afterwards, as she always is, but this is definitely a slip-up with no personal apology as my order was ready 13 minutes after my order should have been done, good thing I didn't arrive late to my rendezvous. read more

Stopped by here for the first time Thursday evening. Had no idea what to expect but Google said it was a Mexican place. My boyfriend likes Mexican and since we've never been there we thought we'd give it a try. Upon walking in we were a little surprised. It's mostly a chicken place with a Mexican afterthought. We ordered food and sat down. We thought they were making it fresh because it took far too long but when we received our food it was ICE COLD! Even the queso was cold. Queso is supposed to be HOT, people! We complained and they offered to fix it but it took them several more minutes to heat up some sides! The food was God awful! The only good thing that came out of that restaurant was the fountain drinks! Honestly Taco Bell would have been better food. Will never return! read more

Damn! Best overall chicken and side combinations versus competitors. Full of flavor and not greasy at all. I could sip on the salsas all day. These meals are something you would like to eat multiple times a week. Not going to bash other chicken chains but this tops el pollo regio and pollo tropical. read more

I usually go to Pollo Loco about once every two weeks and every time that I go they ALWAYS get my order wrong! They literally act like they do not care! They can barely even crack a smile besides a young man who works at the window. He's actually really nice but every other female in there just seems bothered. I really don't know what to make of this place. I generally like the food, but I don't think I've ever gotten an order correct here. The reason may be due to the constant staff turn-over (there's never a familiar face behind the counter), or the constantly-changing menu. The people who work there don't seem to know their own menu. The tortilla soup is good, but 90% of the time they forget to include the tortilla strips the soup is named for (BTW the soup is served in containers guaranteed to spill some in your car). Order a tostada and it will be lacking the dressing. Order a combo and it will be lacking the chips and salsa that are supposed to come with it. Sometimes one of the ordered components is left out. On and on. No napkins or plasticware with drive-through orders unless you remind them. I can't remember the last time I got my order and didn't have something (or two, or three things) missing, and if I ask for them it seems like a surprise to the servers. I'd like to give more than 3 stars but cannot for a place that never gets it right. read more

While I've heard about this restaurant for ages, this is the first time I've tried eating in one of its restaurants. I like the way this restaurant was designed. Good lighting. I'm not particularly crazy about the metal unibody chairs as they could get cold especially in the winter months, which is when we visited. The food was okay, even the salads. Very flavorful. More food than chipotle. The bowls are good, and there's lots of chicken in the double chicken bowl. Good prices too; got 2 double chicken bowls and large chips and quest for $17. 7:30PM and you're out of chicken?! How does that happen? You guys really need to step it up and stay on top of you're inventory.

We gave this place another chance using a BOGO coupon. Paid $5 for each of us to get 2 pieces of chicken and 2 sides and a drink. Pretty good deal but not so good if we had not had the coupon. The chicken was actually fresh and juicy this time not like the other few times we have been here when it has been dried out. One of my sides was a garden salad which was basically lettuce with some sprinkles of parmesan cheese (go figure) on it and a literal teaspoon of dressing. Not at all good. My other side was Spanish rice and my husband had charro beans which were much better than my rice. We ended up combining the 2 and that helped immensely with the dried out rice. The real problem was that we were still hungry after eating their "meal" so we drove down the road to In-N-Out for dessert which equaled a veggie sandwich and fries!! There was absolutely no customers in the restaurant when we arrived at 5 PM on a Saturday evening. The counter girl was okay but rambled everything off so quickly we kept having to ask her to repeat what she had said. (One of my pet peeves in life!) She was not overly friendly nor rude, just knew she was just doing her job. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. read more

Went by to order chicken. Service has always been poor but keep hoping it improves. Ordered 5 breasts and was told they were out and would cook more. Come back in 20 minutes. Returned 30 minutes later and was told I could only have two breasts. Their excuse was that everyone wanted breast. Really?!?!? Why not cook more breasts?!?! Two bad experiences have forced me to write this review. While eating their tacos I crunched into a large bone (about the size of my small finger). I was surprised and disgusted and couldn't finish my meal. I shook it off and returned a couple weeks later again ordering the tacos. This time while eating I looked down on my plate and noticed a bug (cricket?) that had fallen out (fortunately). I could not believe it. That was it for me. I notified store management and corporate.
