I knock and they look at me and ignore me. I call and no one answers! I have to go thru the drive thru to pick up my order I placed for pick up! Mind you theres 15 cars in front door of me!!! POOR FOOD QUALITY. As a kid, I always looked forward to family meals from this location, however, this establishment's quality has drastically declined! I've ordered in the drive thru multiple times recently and the chicken is awful - barely any actual meat. You get mostly bones with crispy, nearly inedible skin. Yesterday was the last straw. My wife ordered a combo plate and churros. The salsa tasted soapy and the chicken was yet again, mainly skin and bones. I bit into a churro and it was ALL GREASE. I wanted to buy a leg and thigh meal today, I had my hopes up , big mistake !!, I start to order and the lady tells me that they' don't have the leg and thigh meal and if I want the mixed meal for an extra$3, I said no and told her that there's no sign out here that says that there is no leg/thigh meal and why should I pay the extra fee, I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was it, her name is Chris, sadly though, she did nothing to accommodate me but I am not surprised, this is not the first time this location tries to upsell the mixed family meal. My family and I have had several issues with this location in recent years but continue to give it the benefit of the doubt. Issues ranging from the freshness of the food/availability and the service of the employees and management. On Sunday evening 03/03/2019, my parents visited this location to place a to-go order for five chicken breasts among other side items. A team member who identified herself at "Maria" the manager on duty, refused to allow my parents to purchaser five chicken breasts. Maria's reason was that we would be purchasing too much of their white meat chicken currently available, which would not leave enough meat for other customers. My parents understood and requested to wait while the team cook more chicken. Maria also refused this request and stated that it would take too long and that the restaurant does not plan on cooking anymore chicken for the remainder of the night. Maria was flat out rude during this entire encounter and could careless about the customer experience. My family and I will not be returning to this location and will be sharing this unfortunate feedback with other friends and family of our community. read more

If I could give this location negative stars, I would. I hate this El Pollo Loco location...with the combined fire of 10,000 burning suns. After a unsatisfactory visit here several months ago, during which the drive-through attendant did not wear a face mask or gloves at the height of the pandemic, and my 8-piece mixed meal had the smallest pieces of chicken EVER IMAGINABLE, I decided to give this location another try on Thursday, May 14. Big mistake. I only ordered two items for takeout: a two-piece meal with a leg, thigh and double side order of beans, and a double protein avocado pollo fit bowl. Despite no one else being in the restaurant, it took the staff 20 minutes to give me my order. Unacceptable, and way too long, especially for two uncomplicated items and food that is already cooked/prepared. I mean, seriously: how effing long does it take to pull two pieces of chicken from the grill, throw them in a container, and put beans in a to-go bowl? Geez. In addition, when I inspected the food upon returning home, the two-piece meal included the tiniest pieces of chicken in the world...not even substantial enough for a three-year-old to eat. To add insult to injury, my fit bowl was supposed to include organic super greens and a double portion of chicken, and I received neither. Instead of super greens, my bowl was made with iceberg lettuce (which has zero nutritional value in comparison to leafy greens), a total fail, and there was hardly any chicken in this dish. Also unacceptable! Finally, in the dining room, the hand sanitizer dispenser was empty, so no customers could sanitize their hands while waiting. El Pollo Loco, and particularly its Camarillo, California location, really need to get its act together. For as much as the chain charges for its chicken and bowls, I expect decent size pieces and portions of chicken...as the menu and the company's advertising campaigns indicate. El Pollo Loco is ripping off consumers by cheating them on portion size. Furthermore, preparing a dish, such as my fit bowl, with alternative, cheaper ingredients like iceberg lettuce, is a dreadful bait-and-switch tactic, and I will not let it stand. In summation, this El Pollo Loco location sucks...and its food and staff are the worst. You should avoid the Camarillo store like the plague. read more

I never usually post reviews, but it's really disappointing how awful this pollo loco has gotten, A couple years ago, the food was filling and the portions were normal. Now, they give you 1 small piece of avocado, 3 chips as a side, half-filled salsa cups, and they even water down the creamy cilantro! I went through drive thru the other night and there was 3 teenage boys working. 1 taking orders, 1 preparing them and 1 standing there for moral support I guess. I proceeded to order and asked for a burrito combo. All the boy said was "ok" never asked for my drink so I said horchata. I drove up to the window, I never got my order repeated back to me and turns out I was charged wrong. He then wanted me to pay the full amount of what I had actually ordered instead of the difference! Here's how to order dark meat chicken at el pollo loco: get two 2 piece leg and thigh combos. Yes you are going to have too many sides now. But take those home. This is the only way to do it otherwise their portions are small and you'll be gnawing on bones. It'll be a $12 meal but worth it. El Pollo Loco seems to be real food compared to fast food and fast/well priced compared to buffet restaurants with selections that are hearty and fill the bill even from a compact menu. Coming from back east I was amazed and think it could be the best fast food ever with more meat vs sides...and dial it in more for American tastes. I went a month ago, they ran out of salad dressing, jalapeño sauce packets, corn and the avocado sauce. I couldn't believe it, every customer that walked in had to modify their order. I have been a long time and regular customer of El Pollo Loco since the opening of your restaurants in California. I am exasperated. After over 6 months of calling customer service with promises of a resolution for being over charged at my local Camarillo El Pollo Loco I have yet to see the promise of reimbursement provided. This is more than outrageous and the absolute worst customer service experience from a customer service department that I have ever encountered. Until this experience I have been able to resolve any one up issues with the local restaurant. I have shown great patience with this issue due to our pandemic circumstances; but a with call after call for 6 months and awaiting a promised call back from a supervisor or the promise to resolve is unacceptable. read more
