I'm so disappointed with this El pollo loco in El Segundo They for some reason can never get my order right ever!!! I ask for no pico and no Guacamole ever time and they still put it on. I truly do not understand what is so hard about making it at least right one time. Especially when I double check with the person taking my order to if they have it right. And they still fail. Just walked in with my hungry kids to pick up a family meal. AFTER I have ordered and paid, I was told that there would be a 20 min wait. I was bummed but since I had paid and already prepared my salsas cups I decided to just wait, only to see some well done chickens on the grill. When I told them those chickens looked done, they couldn't answer me. Then I realized that they reserved them for drive thru customers, not walk ins. WTH. First of all, why would you not prepare enough chickens for dinner time, and second, how would that be fair for walk in or dine in customers?? Ventured in to try the limited edition nachos. While the food itself (corn, quest) may not be my favorite, the chicken was excellent and the location and staff were stellar. Our cashier was pleasant, informative, efficient and friendly. When they messed up my husband's burrito order, they promptly remade it with a smile on their faces. El Pollo Loco is pretty much a chain all over so basically its pretty standard on what's on their menu when going from one EPL to another. My suggested budget meal: Chicken Breast: $2 BRC Burrito: $1.29 Loco Salad: $1 Receipt from last visit with filled survey code: -$1 Total lunch = $3.29 plus tax If you think about it, you order a $5 burrito which has less chicken than if you were to throw the chicken breast meat in the BRC burrito. Add the salsa, onions, cilantro, and extra cilantro dressing. You got your $5 burrito for less than $4 and you have a salad. Note (9/11/07): On a few recent visits, I notice the employee who take the orders come off very rude. One occasion, they commented to each other in Spanish about my co-workers about using the receipt to have the $1 off on their meal. On the last two visits, the male employee enjoys to point out loud whether I want to order any additional items off the $1 menu in a snobbish type attitude. Ordered their double chicken salad, the chicken they used felt and tasted kind of dry, also found out that this location is not going to carry the citrus vinaigrette dressing so your only choice is cilantro t o dressing or ranch. Customer service here is always great.. Every staff welcomes you when you walk in.. Salsa bar is always clean and stocked. Guac is always done right and not done watery.. I have driven past this location for 10+ years but never stopped. Well yesterday (11-10-2013) I decided it was time to add El Pollo Loco back onto my list of places to visit and decided after reading all of the positive reviews on Yelp I would stop at this location. This location is located within an 'L' shaped strip mall on the corner of S. Sepulveda Blvd & E. Mariposa Ave. This location shares its parking lot with a Sizzler, Goodwill donation center, FedEx shipping center and several other locations. The reason I mention these other businesses is because at lunchtime this parking lot is an absolute mess with no street parking so plan accordingly. If you are in dire need of some El Pollo Loco there is a Ralph's supermarket right across the street where you can park and still manage to walk to EPL, eat and be back to your vehicle within the allotted 'lunch hour.' I visited this location during off hours and was able to find parking right in front of this location. I walked in and was stoked to see how clean this location was. As I waited in the short line which was moving quickly I observed the staff sweeping, mopping & restocking the condiment section. I tend to never allow anyone to cook chicken for me so when I do order chicken outside of my own kitchen I always order it extremely well done. I ordered the 3 piece 2 sides (2 breasts & 1 wing with Spanish rice, pinto beans & corn tortillas). The cashier upon taking my order made sure they expressed to the cook that I wanted my chicken 'burnt.' I figured I had a few minutes until my order was ready so I exited this EPL and walked down several businesses to a liquor store located within the same shopping center to play the lottery. When I returned my meal was still not ready so I sat down and figured I would watch the operation that this EPL has going on. I was very happy with what I observed. If you decide to eat your meal inside of this EPL they provide you with a number to place on your table. The number is not your tacky little 'plastic' job but a number placed on your table on top of a silver holder, very fancy. When you order is ready the staff rings a bell and an employee quickly takes your meal from the kitchen to your table. My order was 'to-go,' when my order was ready the cashier who took my order placed a piece of tinfoil onto of the Styrofoam so it did not melt. The cashier showed me the chicken prior to handing me my meal to ensure it was cooked exactly as I ordered it, it was=) I took the meal home and my furry little children went nuts. No matter where I went they followed. I had an amazing meal and so did they. The chicken was perfect, the sides were cooked to perfection there were no leftovers=) Without question I will be back to this location. After living in LA for over twelve years now, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that this was my fist El Pollo Loco experience. I know, I know. All those TV commercials, that catchy jingle, ... Anyway, this place is great. The staff members are extremely friendly. They greet everyone upon entering and they seem to know plenty of regulars by name! And they smile! The food was really good. I got the Chicken Avocado Burrito. It was well-seasoned, packed with yummy chicken, beans, avocado, etc. And grilled/panini pressed too! Yum. My wife got the Loco Chicken Nachos which she enjoyed, and we split a chicken tortilla soup, which was hot, tasty and loaded with chicken & veggies. Great for those of us getting over winter colds. The place is clean and well-maintained. They have a bell that you ring on your way out if you had a good experience! Needless to say, we rang the bell (as did nearly everyone as they left). I love coming to this location, friendly staff and the food is always delicious except last night. I ordered a 3pc meal and only got 2pcs and then the chicken thighs were so hard, it damn near broke my tooth. The only thing edible in the chicken was the inside because all of the outside was too hard. Now this one incident won't stop me from going here, but I'll be sure to check my food before leaving as they always show you your food before bagging it, I usually just glance and nod yes but not anymore. I don't eat El Pollo Loco normally. Only reason why I go here is because it's near my work and El Pollo Loco's chicken is pretty good! Pretty impressed with the quality for a fast food joint. I usually order 3 tacos, one side, and a drink combo for $5. Such a steal considering 3 tacos makes me pretty full! The service here is awesome. The workers look at you and greet you with a big smile all the time! They're polite and attentive throughout. The only downside is that this location gets pretty packed during lunch time and it's a bit of a wait. read more

Not real clean, but very good. Parking lot is a disaster at 12:30 in the afternoon - saw one car back into another and am pretty sure that is a regular occurrence. Very unprepared location. I love El Pollo Loco, brings back memories since this was my very first job as a teen. I ordered through the drive through yesterday (12/6) around 7ish (pm) and they were out of crunchy tacos. Okay that's fine, enough weren't ordered for the month. Next, how about some taquitos, nope. They don't sell those anymore the cashier told me rudely. Lastly, how about some drumsticks? Sorry we only have 3 available. On top of that, customer service (see example above) was mediocre. They had me wait for an hour on thanksgiving for my family's meal. At 6:08 pm they cancelled my order with zero explanation. One heck of a friendly staff!! As soon as you enter you hear voices from all over the restaurant even the kitchen welcoming you in. The hospitality is exceptional and I tip my hat to this location for their detail to customer service. My cashier was Sheila and she did not skip a beat..... she even came by after I was done and asked to take away my trash. Neighboring food establishments need to come pay a visit and pick up some tips. The food was timely and very fresh... not to mention very good. I work In the area and they have definitely won a return customer .... they had me as soon as I walked through the door! I drive for a living, so pretty much, I eat out everyday and the Pollo Loco's of the world are one of favorites that I stop in on. Great experience at this particular Pollo Loco........ 1. Staff greets you as you walk in 2. A line started forming and another gal, who I think was the manager see's what is happening and opens up another register....kudos 3. I had to run out to my car, of course my order gets called while I'm outside, and one the staff members is waiting patiently with my food as I come back into the restaurant, seriously, thanks for that. 4. I wanted another condiment and the gal behind the counter, without hesitation, gets me what I need. 5. Bathroom, very clean. More importantly, it smelled fresh. I always get the 3 piece thigh and leg combo, and always request all thighs. I used to be a drumstick fan, but over the years that extra little sliver of a bone next to the main bone really bugs me. I guess that's their tibia/fibula combo that we have. Didn't someone say we used to be chickens? They no longer carry potato salad, which used to be my favorite side. So today, I had the Spanish rice and the new corn. Everything tasted great with that magical green sauce they have at the salad bar. I think it's a mix of cilantro, onions, avocados, and some other secret ingredients. It tastes pretty healthy and fresh. Combo also comes with a small drink, which is the size of mediums at other places. No worries, they have a soda fountain. All you can drink is always fine by me. +1 STAR - they have Horchata at this location. Would be even more awesome if they had some Orange Bang. read more

There's something about this place that makes smile. I know that this is not "real" Mexican food, but I come for the price and convenience. My usual order is a BRC and a loco salad. Can't beat lunch for ~$3.00. Aside from the food, I cannot stress how awesome their customer service is. there's a really good rotisserie chicken 100 yards from my house. that's the only reason i don't come as frequently to this EPL. i'm a big fan of EPL. i love their chicken. the place by my house is good chicken, but, EPL just has a certain "je ne c'est quoi" that's unmistakable. flame grilling is rudimentary so it must be something else. it must be the marinating. it must be all the secret herbs and spices they use, a la KFC. whatever it is, it works. the most impressive part is that wherever i find an EPL, i can always count on the same exact thing. the flavor is always consistent. this particular location is at a very high traffic area. it can get really crowded in the parking lot during the lunch hour with all the other eateries around. the staff have always been friendly here. the service is quick and the place always clean. the salsa bar has never left me wanting for anything that wasn't available. that's another thing that's always consistent too, the salsa bar. always good. and i'm a big salsa bar/condiment whore. great place, i highly reccomend. read more

If there is such a thing as a nice Pollo Loco, this is it. There was a difference between this experience and any other branch. The first was the fact that the place felt decorated with flowers (even if fake) were on every table, and a matching centerpiece on the counter. You could tell somebody made an effort. I gave a coworker $ to pick us up some food for lunch so we could keep working, :( She showed up with chicken, Spanish rice, black beans, and salad from El Pollo Loco. Lets start with the chicken: This was very tasty and flavorful! Warning, the pieces are pretty salty! Spanish rice and beans were good, about on par for what you would get at any other place. The salad was also good, with small pieces of tortilla chips in it to give it some 'culture', lol. Overall this was a great lunchtime meal.
