We came here because the birria tacos looked really good. We usually go to another fast food place for street tacos when we are out running errands but decided to try this for a change. We did not get what we originally planned to get because of the price. For one birria taco she said it would be $6. That's not a combo meal or anything, one small taco. They are one of the fastest drive throughs around and the food is always consistent and delicious! The iconic bowl is a great value for the protein and is able to be kept in the freezer and easily reheated for backup meal prep. I have seen a few different ladies at the window and they always greet me with a smile, which I know isn't really required for everything, but it is an added bonus to the drive through. Very convenient to get in and out of on the corner of Gilbert and Germann, it has been a staple for my family for years as the big box stores behind it come in and out. I liked when grocery stores started offering their bowls in the freezer section, but lately I prefer to drive through with my mom to get the fresh food and see a friendly face. I ordered from the Gilbert location for delivery yesterday. Did not get the burrito one of my guests ordered. Also, tried the shredded chicken bowl that was absolutely horrible. Very small bowl with a disgusting visual appearance. The chicken in the bowl tasted horrible (it probably should have been thrown out as it tasted like old chicken meat.) What a difference new management makes! The new manager, Maria, seems to be taking the reins and handling issues. My family regularly orders here. It's a quick, delicious and healthy option for when you don't want to cook. I just can't say enough about their grilled chicken. Absolutely delicious!! I've tried some of their salads and they're not bad either. Soups are okay as well. Sides are a good compliment and also good. Churros can go either way. Sometimes nice and crunchy and sometimes not really. I don't eat them but my kid orders them every now and then. The salsa bar has some great options. Mild, medium, avocado and hot sauces are always available. Lemons, cilantro and onions are also included in the salsa bar. Now, the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the tables are always dirty! And tonight was no exception.At different times during lunch, early afternoon, and evening visits I've found that most of the tables are not wiped down regularly. They are so bad there it's like you're being punked. Nothing you order will come out right. The burritos sometimes look like Mexican pizzas some time they are stale.... I mean how can you mess up a brc?! Also how can you work in this restaurant if you have no idea how to wrap a burrito. I had been to this location several times. We kept coming back even tho the service was ridiculous and the food was meh because it was quick and has dietetic options. Well the last straw was when we went through the drive through. So we all know El Pollo Loco can be either hit or miss, their food quality and consistency is all over the place, but on thing you could always count on, was good tortillas. Well....that ended today. Not only was the chicken over cooked and dried out, now the friggin tortillas were stale and hard as a rock. I'm so sad, I tossed the whole damn meal in the trash, and put a frozen pizza in the oven. EPL on Gilbert Rd in Chandler, that was your last chance, we're done.... forever. There's far too many choices for food the the south east valley now, to put up with dried out crap. Ok, I hope it wasn't just a fluke, but today, for the first time in years, the Customer Service and Quality food has returned to this location.
