Thanks to Sam, the owner and native New Yorker, for responding to my post, in search of a very good corned beef sandwhich. I didn't expect a bagel shop to have really good sandwiches. I have to say that it's the best one I've ever had in Arizona, and I've tried many over the past nearly 4 decades. The meat was delish, and it was a good amount. The bread, not a bagel, was larger than typical slices and very good as well. The price was surprisingly reasonable too! The price was nearly the price of a half sandwich that you get elsewhere. The service was great, and when I asked to speak to Sam, she was working the register, hustling to stay on top of all the ordering going on, eager to accommodate everyone. She was truly working to help everyone have a very good experience, and genuinely interested in operating in excellence. She took time to yalk with me and explain their bagel making process, and the quality meats, cheeses and bread she uses. She is all about quality. I'll be back. It's a must try, if you're looking for bagels or excellent corned beef sandwiches. One important note is that they're closed M-W, and only open until 2 the rest of the week. Anyone looking to bring these bagels home to another state (like me in CA) or just home in AZ....they travel well! I put them in my carry on in a ziploc and had no issues. As long as you freeze them fresh (same day) you are golden! I brought these home (a lot of them lol) like 3 weeks ago and we are still enjoying them! Pull them out the night before to thaw out in the fridge or you can wrap in foil completely and put in air fryer on bake at 325° (from frozen) for like 10 mins or so....enough time to be able to cut open. Toast them and enjoy with whatever you like :-p they are just like having them freshly baked! Service is GREAT! Everyone is so nice! We love to support family owned businesses and esp those that are friendly, hard working, and deeelicious! The bagel shop is small and clean. A few tables outside and a small bar/counter right to left as you walk in. Everything we've tried is yummy! Can't go wrong! This is one of our go-to neighborhood spots, and for good reason! We visit often and everything is always fresh, delicious, and perfectly baked. The bread quality is outstanding, and everything we've tried has been consistently tasty. The service is always friendly and efficient, even when they're busy--which is pretty much all the time! My biggest tip: order ahead for pickup because this place is always packed. It's clearly a local favorite, and once you try it, you'll understand why. Another visit for some of the best NY style bagels and cream cheese in the East Valley! I tried the asiago bagel this time, so good and another favorite to add to the list. We decided on a half dozen of sesame, plain, cinnamon raisin and asiago along with plain and lox cream cheese. One of our favorite breakfasts is a toasted bagel smeared with lox cream cheese, add a bit of capers, and for the wife...a few slices of red onion. So good! I was craving g a New York bagel for the last couple weeks and was recommended to this place. This place was absolutely packed and rightfully so! The people working were quick and efficient with the hectic crowd growing they stayed calm and worked together very well. There is New York firefighter, and sports memorabilia on the walls the paint was beautifully done. The bagel was about nine bucks which compared to what in the city that's a good price with what I got. My sandwich was full of meat and cream cheese they definitely didn't skimp out on the filling. Lox left something to be desired. $10.99 was a good price for a bagel & lox nosh which, for me would've required a good briny lox, thinly sliced. Instead it tasted like the 'lox' you buy at a grocery chain. Also there were no paper thin red onions, cracked black pepper, smattering of capers or lemon wedge? All of which wouldve elevated the bagel & I wouldve paid more for. Ultimately, I wish I would have ordered just the bagel & cream cheese. I love New York, my daughter has lived in Brooklyn for decades & my best friend is from there so I've eaten alot of authentic bagels & spent entire summers enjoying the city. Let me start by saying that the quality of my sandwich was top notch and definitely something I would come back for! That aside, it was a little pricey in my opinion ($$14 for just a bagel sandwich). Best place to visit for amazing bagels! They're known for their bagels straight from "New York" which I agree (also because they use water straight from new york). The service is quick and they're always busy so be careful what time you go because they might run out of bagels. Very small store with minimal standing room but they have some outside seating. Seems to be more of a quick get and go but I don't mind because I end up devouring the bagel in the car in 5 minutes haha! read more

We finally tried a lunch sandwich here and oh man was it outstanding! We got the Bongiorno which is a chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella cheese and pesto on a sesame bagel. We changed the bagel to everything bagel and I am so glad we did. Their everything bagel has kosher salt on it and it added another level of flavor. This sandwich was HUGE.. I split it with my son and we both barely finished our half. Not to mention he had ordered a bagel with cream cheese, and he gave me half of that. I couldn't eat it and took it home. He couldn't finish his half of that either. We also got two coffee cakes, one regular and one raspberry. Oh my! You must try the coffeecake! I really really wanted to love this place, but it just fell short on so many levels. It seems I always see so many suggestions for this spot which made me want to go even more. It was a rainy morning and we decided to pop in & split the "Morning Medic" bagel sandwich. It comes standard on a Kaiser roll, but since they were out, we decided on the everything bagel. Which they say all bagels are made in house. The sandwich itself looked so good! The portion size was very fair and had a good amount of meat and egg. Upon that first bite, it hit me. It was so incredibly salty it was almost inedible. Unfortunately for us, we were eating on the road, otherwise I would've asked to have it remade. The sandwich also comes standard with a sriracha like sauce and just was not it. It made me feel like I was supposed to be eating a hearty Asian meal. Needless to say, we didn't finish the sandwich as the saltiness was just too overpowering. The service however was good and the prices are very reasonable. If I'm in the area, I will certainly give them another chance, but they've got a lot of making up to do. read more

Bongiorno bagels is clearly a popular spot. I've been here about five times or more on different times and days of the week and there is always a line out the door! There is a lot of hustle and bustle to get everyone's orders out and timely manner. It seems to be organized efficiently and I haven't had to wait long anytime I've been. The bagels have a nice chewiness to them and taste like a real New York bagel. There's always a good selection of shmear and usually a seasonal flavor to try if you are daring. I highly recommend overall for a top-tier bagel. I've had a few of the bagel sandwiches as well and they are pretty good, but not my go-to spot if that's what I'm feeling. What a bagel!! Along with my everything bagel being delicious, they had a special vanilla bourbon bacon onion cream cheese (I hope I didn't miss an ingredient) that was SUPERB! And they gave a generous amount of cream cheese on my bagel. Bongiornos may be known for their bagels, but I noticed they had coffee cake as well and the thick topping part of the coffee cake was calling my name - yes the sugar part! It was one of the best coffee cakes I have had. Service was fairly quick- but they had great staff working. Lots of people were coming in for phone orders as well so it was bustling. Fun fact: Buon Giorno translates to "Good Morning (Day)" in Italian! We asked the worker why "Bongiorno" was spelled differently, to which she replied "It's Italian." I speculated "Bongiorno" is easier to spell; come to found out on their website, it's the owner's last name! Anyways! My husband visited once on a Saturday around noon and reported it was really busy. They do not have online ordering through their website. We visited on Sunday around 1:15, 45 minutes before close. There were only a few people ahead of us, but also only 3-4 types of bagels still available. I ordered a Chicken Cutlet sandwich on an everything bagel ($9.99 + $1 chicken cutlet= $10.99) and my husband had the Hot Double on Sesame ($10.99). Both of our bagel sandwiches were HUGE! I probably could have eaten half and called it a day but I'm not a quitter. Our bagels were both pretty good, but I haven't had New York bagels to compare it to. Certainly fresher than Einstein Bagels. The chicken cutlet was a bit dry though. I only wish it weren't so far away! read more

The girl who took my order seemed annoyed. I ordered a bakers dozen with 3 small tubs of cream cheese. Prices of the bagels themselves I thought was great. Cream cheese was expensive. Good quality though. Bagels were soft, kinda dense. And I kinda wish the bagels had holes in the middle haha. I was craving a bagel sandwich, but after our experience the other day at another spot, I wanted to try some place different. This place popped up on my yelp search so I thought I would try it. WOW! This place was JUMPIN! BUSY, BUSY!!! Since I've never been, I decided to get just a bagel because of how busy they were but then found out they work fast and I should have just taken my time and gotten the sandwich. Either way tho, because the bagel was amazing and the smear was the real deal. The guy that helped me was super friendly, the bathroom was spotless, and the shop was clean and very cool! I might stop by again during the week instead of a Saturday to see if they are busy then as well, I'm guessing they are because this place is the SPOT! 5 STARS!!! read more

If you fancy a tasty bagel, Bongiornio is the place to be. It's busy because it is delicious. However, they have a great system to accommodate this and we were promptly attended to. Yup, never disappointed with this spot, my new go to! Got the Americano and I am pretty sure it gets better and better each time I get it. If you want true delicious crispy on the outside and soft in the center bagels this is the place. I've been craving bagels specifically from NYC (which i've never had lol) but this is definitely something I expect to get once I do get a chance to visit NYC! As someone who lived in NY most of my life, these bagels just don't hit the same as back home. They may use NY water, but the bagels just aren't anything special. Prices can be high for what they offer. This go around we opted for The Bongiorno. It's a chicken cutlet sandwich with mozz, pesto, and prosciutto. Opted for a roll but their rolls are on the smaller side. Chicken cutlet was crispy, loved the pesto, but minimal prosciutto added. The sandwiches come with a bag of chips. The chips are child size, not even a normal size bag of chips. Also got a piece of crumb cake. I asked the lady behind the counter if I could pick the one I wanted from the front case, we like extra crumb. Unfortunately they don't allow that. Ended up with a piece that had the thinnest layer of crumb instead. The cake was moist and had really good flavor, but crumb layer was too thin. We were in the area and hungry, but been here a few times and just not impressed regardless what we try. read more

THE REAL DEAL. Best bagels I've had in AZ by miles. I went in with high expectations and they were wildly exceeded. My parents are both from NYC, so I've spent tons of time there over the years and I know the difference. These are legit. Crispy, bubbly crust and dense, chewy, yet still airy on the inside. Came here specifically for the Taylor Ham -- and Bongiorno Bagels did not disappoint. Growing up visiting family in Jersey, Taylor Ham was always a staple at the local bagel shops, so finding it here was a big win. I did a build-your-own egg n' cheese with an everything bagel, egg, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño cream cheese, and Taylor Ham. Solid combo. The bagel itself was fresh and tasty -- and it's cool that they use a New York Water Filtration System to replicate NYC water. You can tell they're serious about keeping it authentic. Heads up: there was a bit of a wait when I visited, but it was worth it. Next time, I'll probably order ahead to skip the line because there's a lot on the menu I still want to try. More of a 3.5/5 stars for me, but bumping it up because my partner enjoyed it. Coming from the east coast, I've been looking for a good bagel shop out here. Bongiorno Bagels is definitely east coast style with how generously they stuff their bagels! They're pretty crowded in the mornings and it can get a little confusing figuring out where the line starts and who is just waiting for their order. It definitely felt like I was on the east coast with the crowds and how much they maximized their smaller space. My partner and I both got the Bongiorno (chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella, and pesto on a sesame bagel). Our bagels came with about 3 stacked cutlets! It was so tall. The cutlets themselves were rather tough though, so it made it difficult to bite through everything. You'll be pulling pieces of whole cutlet with your bites. I normally love all of the components that the Bongiorno comes with, but I personally wouldn't order it again. My partner and I also got an everything bagel and sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese to eat for later. The bagels have a nice chew and are somewhat generously topped compared to other bagel places around here. The cream cheese was very refreshing. It wasn't as sweet as you would expect and had a pleasant tartness that comes from fresh strawberries. This establishment has been around for years. I've been a customer since I was in college across the street. Now that we moved back to Gilbert I introduced my son to this place and now he goes every day they are open. He gets there when there is a line right when it opens.
