I haven't had the pollo bowl In a while and was craving it after moving all weekend long. I was glad to see there was an El Pollo Loco nearby because my craving was satisfied! The drive-thru was quick and they had my food ready in under 5 miinutes. There was no wait, either. When I got home, I cleared one right away and it hit the spot for $5!! They never used to charge for the cilantro lime dressing but they do now. I'll still pay for it any day! Hello, I'm back to do a follow up review of my first review's experience, HAPPY to say Jose Arrieta reached out to me and was very apologetic about the situation I experienced and wanted to make things right, I'm one of those people who believes in a second chance to make things right and Jose did that, today 8-18-25 lunchtime, I headed to El Pollo Local to get lunch, after explaining everything to the on duty assistant manager Raquel Jimenez she also was very apologetic about my bad experience, Raquel herself prepared my order and showed me everything before bagging each item, everything looked Fresh and good to go. Got home and Jen & I sat down for lunch and was Very Pleased with our Replacement meal everything was as I remembered from previous orders. I generally like El Pollo Loco. The flame grill Chicken is always delicious. I usually like to order it with a side of pinto beans. There's so many delicious things to order there from the chicken combos, burritos, tacos, and salads. The salsa Bar has been removed, and you have to ask for the salsa that you want. I really like the avocado salsa. This time I ordered the chicken chopped salad with street corn. I had seen a commercial and was really looking forward to it, especially since I really love the regular chicken salad. I will say this was not my favorite salad, but that's on me because I didn't read the description as well as I should have. Instead of the regular Char-Grilled chicken, it had a chili lime seasoning. I'm really not a fan of chili lime seasoning on anything. Also, the street corn wasn't really like regular street corn - - it was more like corn with peppers in it. It was served with the fantastic salad dressing (I'm not sure but it could be an avocado dressing???) that they serve with their regular salad. I could drink that stuff! Although I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken chopped salad with street corn, I will say that El Pollo Loco consistently gives me good food. read more

I've had pollo loco in Modesto California and the food was always great. We ate there at least once a week and consistent flavors and quality. This AZ restaurant on baseline was horrible. I am a regular patron of El Pollo Loco and usually go through the drive-thru. Today I ate in and was a little nauseated by the shape of the restaurant. I was here only an hour after they opened, and the tables were not wiped down, there were little pieces of trash on the beverage bar, and the floors were dirty; not just with crumbs, but a genuine dirty film on the tiles. I love pollo loco but this location has been bad. I went two time and each time my food was old and hard, like it was left out. I did complain and received a 30 dollar gift card for the issue, which was awesome customer service. So I was like ok I'll give it another try, maybe go earlier and not so close to closing, which shouldn't make a difference, but nope, still bad! The rice was rock hard, literally too hard to even chew, somebody there saw this and decided to serve it to a guest. I did not request a replacement or a refund because it was bought with a gift card. I did email the customer service email address form which I received the gift card correspondence and received no reply at all. I emailed to let them know the issue of quality control is still not resolved and maybe it should be addressed at that location. It isn't fair to customers to pay for their food and then when they get home they can't eat it because it's quality. I sent two emails voicing my concerns and no reply at all. It's very clear this location does not care about the safety or quality of food they are serving. I would not recommend anyone to go to the location at Gilbert and baseline. Staff the rudest!!! Ordered thru drive thru was never told it would take 25 mis to get my order, or ask if I wanted to wait. I was told to park and they would bring my food. 15 mid passed I had to go back inside to get my food. Absolute garbage of a store. The staff is rude and instead of fixing what they do wrong they insist you just order again and pay again. I just went through the drive through and ordered a shredded chicken and cheese bowl. I got a bowl of soupy beans and chicken mixed into it..wth is even that? Asked if there were any salsa or sauces, he replied grab it yourself it's behind you. Two stars because the food was good, not great but good. The person serving spoke very poor English and very quickly to a point I had to request several time to repeat herself. Plus the greeting and/or hospitality from staff also was very poor. The order was the twelve (12) piece chicken meal and most of the chicken was dry and tough...several pieces were not eadable. The upside the food was hot including the flour tortillas. The sides we alright with exception of bean had more fluid than beans...disappointing. Understand their previous reviews low rating based on my experience. This was the first and absolute last time I eat at this place. We ordered through the drive through. Typical order. Taco Salads and some tacos. Get home, open the package and start eating. Well 2 bites in and i get something chewy. I spit it out and its a piece of paper. Square and crumbled and green so it looked like lettuce. I nearly vomited. OK...I know this is a chain. I try to steer away from chains most of the time. In this case we had an appointment nearby, and it was incredibly convenient. Plus sometimes you want simple food. OK...enough justification... We find this better than KFC. The marinade they use is subtle but flavorful. The chicken at this location was no exception. The beans are ordinary pinto beans. At least they aren't that refried muck. The rice is very lightly seasoned, not what I would call Mexican rice despite its color. However, adding a bit of pico de gallo to both makes them better. We ordered a "three course meal". This included soup and a dessert. The soup was fine (again, add some salsa to jazz it up a bit). The dessert was supposed to be chocolate churros. But the manager was very accommodating. She let us swap out the churros for a brownie. That's good customer service. The brownie was pretty dry (so I wouldn't recommend it), but I give credit for the customer service. I have to round UP my rating instead of rounding down. So instead of 3.5 stars I have to go to four. Understand that is for the sort of place this is. I'm not comparing to Kona Grill. This is a fast food chicken place. We love El Pollo Loco. Normally, we go to the location on Country Club and Southern. That place has been going downhill since they removed the sign that said "We E-Verify". (the quality and quantity of food there is bad, the employees can hardly speak English, the location is kind of dirty) So today, I stopped at this location. The location is clean. The food was good and typical of the quality and quantity we've gotten from El Pollo Loco in the past. The employees were all friendly, and those not helping with the food were wiping counters and restocking supplies. Obviously, management and quality of the employees makes a big difference. This location is slightly out of the way for me, but so much better than my other location that I'll be going here. 4 out of 5 stars because the price of El Pollo Loco in general is getting out of the "fast food" range. 2 bowls and 2 stuffed quesadillas for $32 ~ and that wasn't for "meals". read more

I called and explained what happened and she quickly called the other location, spoke with their manager, and got the order over to them. This is exceptional customer service and she deserves to be recognized for it. Thank you! I come to this location at least once a week. I really love their salads, and they are a great size and when I have a $5 coupon they are are great value. The cilantro dressing always taste fresh and delicious. The only reason I give this place 4 stars and not 5 would be the chicken... crazy this place is called el pollo loco but the chicken most of the time is super dry and just meh. When it's diced or put in dishes you can't tell as much because the sauces and other components are helping the taste and texture but when I get the family deal with drums and thighs... ouch not good. The worst service I have had in a very long time. As I pulled up to the drive-through at 9:40 PM, a man said hold on. He then asked me what I wanted to order because they were about to close soon. He said we close in ten minutes. Almost as if he was trying to talk us out of ordering that late. He then said what do you want? We were hesitant to even order at that point. I have been to this particular store before and have had decent service and food, but I will NOT go here again. After a long day of errands I stopped here on my way home. First off the speaker system was so bad the lady inside had a hard time understanding what I wanted and I had to repeat things 2 or more times. Then once I got home I found that half of my order was missing and the part that was there was burnt beyond being edible. The chicken was so burnt and dry I can't imagine why anyone would serve it, the fries looked like they had been in the fryer for way too long and then had been sitting out for hours. The only thing I was able to eat out of the whole thing was the tortillas and even they were cold by time I got home. Prior to tonight I would have given this restaurant at least 4 stars because I have been to this location through their drive through a couple times and they got my order right, were very friendly, and the prices were always good because I receive coupons in the mail. After tonight though, I'll probably never return. My husband (this review is being written by Stephen's wife, Celeste, by the way) and I decided to take our two kids with us for an inexpensive family meal out, especially because we had received more great El Pollo coupons. Well we had never eaten inside the store and didn't realize we would be sharing our dining experience with hundreds of small and unwelcome guests. They were literally everywhere and even though I wiped off the table and chairs before we sat down my husband still had one get on him. He was so grossed out that he couldn't finish his meal (and he's not usually very squirmy about bugs). All my 2 yr old son could keep saying during the meal was "bug! bug!" as he pointed at the floor or tables. The service was still very friendly, but our bag of chips was very stale (they did replace them when I mentioned it though), and the place was generally filthy. I really hope that their food prep area is a lot cleaner than their guest dining area, because if the dining area is any indication of the kitchen I'll be very surprised if we didn't ingest a few bugs.
