We came here for a quick lunch on a Sunday. Was not busy at all, but the wait was quite long considering. We sat on the patio which was nice as it is dog friendly and were able to bring our dog. The fries are really good. Would come back just for those. I had the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was juicy but the sandwich overall was bland. I was at a community event that was close to this location, which was great because I have been wanting to try the spot just because of Shaq and he thinks he knows chicken so well. I ordered some chicken tender strips, french fries and mac & cheese just to get a variety of things and check out the sauces. The buffalo boneless chicken bites were the best with a close second on the chicken strips now I didn't taste all of the sauces, but my daughter says that the BC sauce was extremely good. The mac & cheese was one of their signature dishes. It was good, but it was much too cheesy for me personally. Overall, I think that the chicken was very good and I would return if I wanted a nice buffalo boneless and I'm in that area. Like I said it wasn't anyone in the place, but me and my daughter, but the set up was very nice. They had a bar TVs all over to watch the games and the seating was pretty comfortable. I love a good counter service place that is quick, kid friendly and serves good food. My son got the kids meal (2 strips & fries) and he ate almost the whole thing. The coating on the chicken is very flavorful, crunchy and I love their added sauce options. I opted for Nashville hot chicken grilled chicken salad and it was so delicious. Interesting, but not too bad. Was kinda nervous when we walked in around 6pm on a Wednesday and NO ONE was in the restaurant. We ordered from a variety of chicken sandwiches (there is only chicken) and one chicken salad, pils some "dirty" fries and sweet potatoes waffle fries. Easy menu to order from, and the folks taking our order was nice and made some suggestions and food came out fast. It was ALL delicious! The chicken on the sandwiches was large, moist and flavorful. The sweet potato waffle fries were probably some of the best I've ever had. My spicy Kenny the jet chicken sandwich with jalapeno slaw and fried pickles was really good, it did have a bite, but not too bad. We had someone come out from the kitchen and asked how we liked the food. Interestingly though, we were there for about an hour enjoying our meal and no one else ever came in, but all the other restaurants seemed pretty busy. Shaq bested me... My boyfriend and I are crazies so we always order the spiciest options at chicken joints. We managed to eat ghost pepper sauces at other restaurants before, but Shaq had us leaving Big Chicken with tears streaming down our faces. Damn, that chicken was JUICY though! We finally made it in here after the kids having asked to go since they saw it open. It is in a great location in downtown Gilbert with ample parking close by. We went about an hour before closing time and the place was quite empty and very few employees. They were friendly, but very slow. We ordered several meals and two beers. They had decent draft options. The beer took a very long time due to the lack of staff, but we eventually got it. The food came out piping hot and was pretty good. A lot of their sauces were running low or out, but I imagine they are better stocked normally. It did take a while before we were able to eat the food since it was so hot, which my husband and I didn't mind as we drank our beers, but it was tough getting the kids to wait haha. My wife and I went in to Big Chicken for the first time today and we left satisfied, surprised and happy. The idea is basically designed around fried chicken sandwiches with a varied selection of toppings and sauces. Doesn't sound very impressive but that's where everything became surprising. We both just had to basic, original sandwich. A bun, a single piece of battered and deep fried boneless chicken breast accompanied by a mayo-based sauce and a couple of dill pickle chips. All in all similar in concept to Chik-fil-a (which I like) but elevated a little in that every single component was selected for quality and prepared close to perfectly. The brioche-styled bun was fresh and flavorful but surprisingly light. The chicken was perfectly breaded, not too much breading and not too little, but then cooked properly , done but not dry. The dill pickle chip was substantial and didn't get lost and the sauce enhanced the flavor without bringing too much heat. In short, it's just a really good chicken sandwich for a very reasonable price. It turned out that the guy behind the counter was the owner and he was exceptionally helpful and nice. The only time we have been to Big Chicken was on a cruise ship and we wanted to check out a standalone location. The staff was very helpful and the menu offered a decent variety of options for a chicken place. I liked the sauce bar and the way it allowed you to try a number of different flavors similar to a traditional BBQ joint. The sandwiches were all very good and the chicken was cooked perfectly without too much grease. The dining area wasn't huge, but the location was great on the main strip and there were plenty of televisions to watch sports. The flavor of the food surprised us all and we were pleasantly surprised as it was much fresher than our prior experience on the cruise. For a place called BIG Chicken the food was anything but. Only went once and was late so maybe we got the short end of the stick but for a place called BIG chicken I'm hoping we're getting BIG. The sandwich was honestly slightly smaller or about equal to the size of other fast food places premium burger/sandwich (McDonald's/Jackinthebox etc) the food was still pretty good but not sure if it's worth the price. (I think I got the Original Sandwich) Service was about what you'd expect for a closing shift about an hour til close so I personally am not too upset about the lack of service but I mean me and my friend WERE the only ones there and the person who took our order still ended up giving us the wrong stuff so we had to do some swapping on our trays. Again a nitpick but I guess that's what this platform is kinda for and up to YOU to decide. Nice place and in a good location.
