Show up at the our usual place only to be told that our order was at a different location. They said they can't cancelled the order but if we want we can order another at this location and then try to cancel at the other location and wait "about" 3 days to get a refund. I tried calling but did not get through so we drove there to pick up. Location was convenient. Nice and clean interior. Cashier was super nice and friendly. Chicken was nicely cooked and delicious. I love pollo loco! They're always my to go when I feel like eating something simple & delicious. As I mentioned I eat here often, and I always do the same order pollo bowl plain add lettuce & corn. NEVER had an issue with getting it plain & adding corn & lettuce at any location including this one since this one is the closest to my home. Today I pulled in to the drive-through after a long day of work not feeling like cooking. As I'm placing my order, the guy in the drive-through started giving me attitude and telling me that he would have to charge me for the lettuce and corn. I asked how come? I've done this multiple times. I don't understand what the issue was? He's giving me this whole explanation how they've done it wrong in the past & he doesn't understand why they do that. I'm listening to him, but like I mentioned, I've always ordered the same in the past times, so I don't understand what has changed. Maybe they're trying to keep their food cost low? This location always gives me a five star experience. The food is always hot and fresh. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We go here on a regular basis and love El Pollo Loco. Very disappointed with this location. The salad I received had black, spoiled avocados, and the chicken was undercooked--even though I clearly explained I have an allergy and need it well-cooked. I can see why this store location has a 2 star rating. Alma the store manager that claimed to be who she was today at 5/16/25 @12:45pm. Whenever I visit this location, Alma tends to be working, I get told the $3 off coupon that's in the app today that I showed them is expired. it's only this store. the coupon doesn't expire until next week. I showed them the app on my phone with coupon QR code, normally I just drive off upset when they fail to honor it, but today I was more vocal given this is numerous bad experiences at this store location. RSM store just took the QR scanned coupon, we had to go out of our way to go there since I was getting the food form my 85 year old mom that was with me. I would avoid this location for their poor customer service, they don't know how to treat customers. She even said she doesn't care about service. Because I have a Tesla the conversation was likely partially recorded because Sentry with Teslas is always running. Alma is not a good leader. She seems unhappy every time I see her. How is she suppose to lead a team of people. Consider why this store has the lowest ratings out of all your other residents. I plan to reach out to the District Manager, Franchisee and Corporate office. After repeated poor visits, I want them to know why thia store rating is so more. The drive through configuration is also a joke, its the worst planned drive through with very little clearance. I now will refuse to visit this location. I may also delete the app and cancel the large monthly catering orders I do once a month. While I realize this is one stores problem, it affects the El Pollo Loco brand over all. My husband and I get El Pollo on a weekly basis (sometimes more than once a week), mainly because one is super close by and it *feels* healthier than other fast food options (and because I am a BRC connoisseur). I had unfortunately been SO let down by our usual El Pollo location in Aliso Viejo...with their inedible scorched chicken, or cold chicken, or small and sad chicken, or messed up orders every single time (we are too hopeful for change and never learn!). ANYWAYS, we happened to be in Mission Viejo, and I honestly forgot how wonderful El Pollo is when the chicken is freshly cooked and the orders are actually correct! I happily noticed that this location actually had a ton of chicken on the grill instead of sad, old pieces piled up on the side of the grill (what a concept)! The man taking our order was also very friendly, which was also a pleasant surprise. My chicken plate was very tasty and my husband's taco plate was also made perfectly! I can't give a 5 star through & through because I've visited this location 30 plus times in the last two years and service isn't always good. I've had onions on bowls which no onions were ordered & pieces of chicken barely counting as a bite of chicken. That said overall experience has been good. Good chicken, good salsa, good service, and good tortillas. We get the meals with flout tortillas, beans & coleslaw. Keto burrito here & there & chicken avocado bowl too.
