My wife and I recently walked over from our neighborhood and decided to give this place a try, and we're glad we did. I ordered the Fried Chicken Bowl, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The chicken was crispy, tender, and surprisingly reminded me of calamari in the way it ate, light and not overly heavy. What really stood out was how restrained they were with the sauces. There was just enough teriyaki and sesame mayo to add flavor without drowning the chicken. Too many places overpower a dish with sauce, but here the flavor of the chicken still came through. The portion size was perfect for us. We enjoyed a satisfying meal without feeling stuffed afterward, which made the walk home just as enjoyable as the walk there. The restaurant itself was very clean. As someone who always checks the restroom before ordering, I can say the cleanliness passed my test. The dining area was spotless, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. We sat outside with our dog, which made for a great evening. The patio is dog-friendly, the staff was fast and friendly, and they brought out refreshing lemon water that really hit the spot after our walk. With music playing outside and attentive service, it created a relaxed and enjoyable experience. One reason I'm taking the time to write this review is because restaurants in this area seem to come and go quickly. This is one of those places I'd hate to see disappear. I've ordered the food through doordash many times but I went in for the first time today and it was awesome-- they have cute illustrations inside and they sell all sorts of korean snacks and drinks too! Super nostalgic. Speaking of nostalgia they were playing all these old school korean and pop hits, it was like a blast to the past in the best way! The teokbokki ricecakes were soooo soft and chewy they were perfect!! and I loved that each dish came with some sides like fried dumplings and the fried shrimp which were all super tasty too! They even have ice cream which i believe is home made and they present it with a really cute dusted logo and its very creamy and nice! I overheard that they may be changing their name soon to Han Shik Dang due to a bigger LA corp making trouble :( but I will definitely be back to support! I've come here several times now from opening days to now (almost a year later). Han (the owner) is always super sweet. He will talk to you and answer any questions to the best of his abilities. When I first came around it was mostly just him and like one or two people to help him in the kitchen but there has been several additions to the team. All of them are nice and friendly. The food here is always A+. I've tried almost everything on the menu so far, but my go to will always be the donkatsu bowl. It is hearty and big enough to fill you up plus maybe a little extra to take home. I wish they had more items for me to get off the menu since it's kind of hard to eat the same thing several times, but I understand that it is a small restaurant and having too many different things can lead to quality changes for their existing items. He's a creature of habit and will order the same item every time, while I venture around to give something new a try with every visit. Hubs gets the donkasu bowl, which has a very generous portion that will keep you full. You get a slab of fried pork cutlets slathered in their house made sauce on rice. Comes with side of pickled radish, stir fry kimchi and cabbage salad. If you want to ration out your sauce, you can request to get it on the side to keep optimal crunch or control how much sauce. You can also order an extra side of sauce if it's not enough! On my first visit, I got their fried chicken bowl. No leftovers not because the food was great, but due to the tiny portions and most items impalpable. For example, the kimchi fried rice was barely filled inside the container. For a $15 item, I expected it to be more food. Yes, it had two fried eggs that came with it but even then, very disappointing and not filling. It had spam inside and no other ingredients besides rice that resembled more like ketchup rice inside of an omurice. Not spicy or anything. Highly disappointing. I ordered the house salad and extra fried egg thinking that would hopefully make things more satiating. Nope. I also wasn't aware the fried rice came with eggs. All 3 eggs were over hard and very greasy. No seasonings added so just greasy rubbery eggs. Had I ordered the food in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. The salad was ok. Nothing to write home about. Just spring greens with one tiny separate container of vinegar based dressing I didn't care for. Definitely not worth paying extra for. The bulgogi also came in a tiny box. It had maybe 3-4 bites worth of food. By then, I was pissed off. Not only the food items came in tiny portions but the complete lack of seasoning or under-seasoning of several items was unacceptable. But the bulgogi came with watery pool of grease on the bottom and tasted sickly sweet. The meat tasted oddly old and had a foul odor to it. Would I order from here again? Most definitely not. Just with the lack of banchan, the tiny portions, and lousy seasoning of food makes it a hard no. By the time I tasted the bulgogi, it was a hard no forever. read more

We came for dinner and got the kbbq combo with short rib + bulgogi + soondubu soup for $65. Pretty pricey but the soondubu broth was so delicious. They only have one option of soondubu (spicy tofu soup) that contains preset beef onion and enoki mushrooms. The soup was not that spicy at all. It was very oily, maybe that's why it was so decadent and delicious. The banchans were very limited and it felt uncomfortable to ask for refills as they didn't seem to like it. Probably because it's catered to a more non Asian crowd which normally don't ask for banchan refills. But my favorite part of Korean food is to taste all the various small side dishes, especially the kimchi. So that was a bummer. Overall great food and I'll definitely come back for the spicy tofu soup. My favorite banchan was the spicy green onion salad. Not spicy at all and so delicious. The bowl did not look too big on the menu but when it arrived it was pretty huge! One large serving of katsu, rice, pickled radish, and a small portion of kim chi. The katsu was really good and cme with a sauce that kind of resembled a sweet tomato sauce? The meat was pretty thin and crispy as well. The only complaint is that the kimchi portion was super tiny, like basically one large bite of kimchi. We got their matcha ince cream for dessert as well; it says on their signage that it's housemade so I wanted to try it. It was really rich and creamy and had a strong matcha flavor. Friends and I decided to branch out from our usual eats and try new places that opened up. Nasung is located in the Aliso Viejo Town Center, and across the corner from Sgt Pepperonis. Barnes and Nobles is on the other side. First off, their service is really nice and very courteous. Han helped us out and was knowledgeable and always present to assist. The interior is an open kitchen with glass display but since it's a sit down restaurant, your focus is more about dining in and engaging with your people. Their interior decoration is very catchy and clean and modern. They use metal chopsticks and spoons but also offer wrapped knife & fork bundles. Paper napkins but thats all good. Tables are kept clean. Since it was the 4 of us, we ordered appetizers like spicy tofu salad and edamame; and each got to try the kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki, donkatsu, and KFC. I feel like everything was well cooked. Tteokbokki, you could feel the heat on your lips but it wasnt overly spicy. Even as a Korean-American, some spicy foods are not my strength (along with my digestive). The portions were large enough to keep you satiated but not so much that you feel bloated and overwhelmed. I was really looking forward to the radish soup and it was made very well. Very flavorful and the right amount of fat. I also love that they serve barley tea! I haven't had that in a quick minute. I am working on not eating beef nor do I really engage in street/fried foods so this was a rare experience for me but it was a very nice experience.
