Donkasu Bowl
Michelle C.

Service is always fast, which makes this an easy pickup, casual spot. Ordered the Donkasu Rice Bowl and the pork katsu was lightly fried and impressively stayed crispy even after a 10-minute car ride. The plate came with fresh radish and kimchi, which added a nice balance to the richness of the katsu. The rice was fluffy and topped with a fragrant, savory soy sauce drizzle, which really enhanced the dish. The katsu sauce was perfectly tangy and creamy, nothing like I've ever had before, but it tied everything together perfectly. Overall, a super reliable spot for quality donkatsu that travels well. Definitely will be one of my go-to places in the area!

Tteok bokki

This restaurant has a friendly staff. We came in to try this restaurant because we heard about it from a friend who is a food vlogger. We ordered tteok bokki which is the spicy rice cakes with dumplings, shrimp tempura, and gochujang sauce. The rice cakes had a perfect chewy texture. And the spicy level was just right to my liking. My husband ordered kimchi friend rice which was served in this cute tin box. We enjoyed and had enough kimchi flavor. Overall, this place satisfies your cravings for a fast korean meal.

Husband is obsessed that's it's been a solid bi-weekly rotation ever since we discovered it in October of this year. He's a creature of habit and will order the same item every time, while I venture around to give something new a try with every visit. We usually come around opening, so service has been prompt and we get some peace and quiet before the lunch rush comes through. Hubs gets the donkasu bowl, which has a very generous portion that will keep you full. You get a slab of fried pork cutlets slathered in their house made sauce on rice. Comes with side of pickled radish, stir fry kimchi and cabbage salad. If you want to ration out your sauce, you can request to get it on the side to keep optimal crunch or control how much sauce. You can also order an extra side of sauce if it's not enough! On my first visit, I got their fried chicken bowl. The chicken is sauced with teriyaki and sesame mayo on top of shredded cabbage and rice. You also get some pickled radish and stir fry kimchi. The second time, I got the Spam Kimchi Fried Rice. I didn't have a huge appetite and this portion appeared a little smaller in comparison to the rice bowls, but I still left really full! It comes with two fried eggs and two dumpling. You get the option to add some dried seaweed to mix into your fried rice alongside the usual suspects for sides: pickled radish and stir fry kimchi. I saw they added something new recently, Spicy Tofu Soup. Can't wait to give that one a try! However, the donkasu is a solid choice to come through and give a try.

Nasung Donkasu is a solid fast-casual spot that's perfect when you want something quick, easy, and satisfying. It's conveniently located in the Town Center, and the ordering process is super straightforward and ideal for a casual lunch or a no-fuss dinner. The food came out fast and everything was fresh. The standout for me was the bulgogi bowl and was tender, flavorful, and generously portioned. It's comforting and delicious. The space is clean and simple, exactly what you'd expect from a fast-casual setup. Overall, Nasung Donkasu is a great option when you're in the area and craving something tasty without a long wait.

Placed an order for pickup and everything was ready upon arrival. The restaurant is cozy inside with cute illustrations. The food portions are very small for the amount of price you will be paying for. Something to be really aware of. Just for context, 4 items for $32 that barely fed me, a grown ass adult. No leftovers not because the food was great, but due to the tiny portions and most items impalpable. For example, the kimchi fried rice was barely filled inside the container. For a $15 item, I expected it to be more food. Yes, it had two fried eggs that came with it but even then, very disappointing and not filling. It had spam inside and no other ingredients besides rice that resembled more like ketchup rice inside of an omurice. Not spicy or anything. Highly disappointing. I ordered the house salad and extra fried egg thinking that would hopefully make things more satiating. Nope. I also wasn't aware the fried rice came with eggs. All 3 eggs were over hard and very greasy. No seasonings added so just greasy rubbery eggs. Had I ordered the food in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. The salad was ok. Nothing to write home about. Just spring greens with one tiny separate container of vinegar based dressing I didn't care for. Definitely not worth paying extra for. The bulgogi also came in a tiny box. It had maybe 3-4 bites worth of food. By then, I was pissed off. Not only the food items came in tiny portions but the complete lack of seasoning or under-seasoning of several items was unacceptable. But the bulgogi came with watery pool of grease on the bottom and tasted sickly sweet. The meat tasted oddly old and had a foul odor to it. Would I order from here again? Most definitely not. Just with the lack of banchan, the tiny portions, and lousy seasoning of food makes it a hard no. By the time I tasted the bulgogi, it was a hard no forever.

A cozy Korean spot serving up bowls and some of the usual well-known Korean foods. We came here tired on a dark and rainy night and were treated to friendly table service and tasty bowls. The walls are plastered with cutesy art with imperfect English, telling you you're in for a good time. I got a fried chicken bowl, loaded with crispy chicken bits, tangy KFC sauce, and mayo. My partner got the bulgogi bowl, which was "good," sweet and savory and tender and salty. I enjoyed the salty and concentrated pan fried kimchi side dish, but he didn't. They were both reasonably priced and pretty filling by themselves. The food is flavorful and familiar; after or in the middle of a tiring day, it hits the spot.

Tteokbokki with added soup and salad

This place is such a fantastic addition to South OC! The menu is on the limited side but has the basics - tofu soup, bulgogi, tteokbokki and katshu (both pork and chicken). The prices are very reasonable, especially for South OC. I think other Korean restaurants charge a bit more per entree but they come with banchan. Here, the banchan is extra, which is nice because it does cut down on both cost and waste. We tried the bulgogi and the tteokbokki and both were great. You can add soup and salad for an extra $4 and it was a great way to round out a meal. The portions are generous. I think a smaller eater could have leftovers and two younger kids could easily split an entree (the rice with meat options). The food comes out quickly as it's a smaller place. Service was good and friendly.

I visited Nasung Donkasu in Aliso Viejo and was blown away by how good everything was. The food tastes homemade, fresh, and full of flavor. You can really tell they care about what they serve. The donkasu was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. The bulgogi was sweet and savory in all the right ways, and the jumbo shrimp tempura was surprisingly meaty and so satisfying. I also tried the rice cake skewers and their matcha ice cream. The ice cream actually tastes like real matcha and even has their logo on top, which the owners designed themselves. What really makes this place special are the owners. It's a sweet couple who run it together, and they are truly some of the kindest people you'll meet. They make you feel so welcome from the moment you walk in. If you're looking for comforting, authentic Korean food in Orange County, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back soon.

Donkasu Bowl and Korean Fried Chicken

Food was very good and quick picking up experience. Took the donkasu bowl takeout and it was still perfectly crispy.

Free plaza parking. Outdoor seating available. Cozy inside with only four tables for four and two tables for two. Seven counter bar seats available. Aliso students get 10% off 2p-5p on school days. There's a lunch special M-F 11a-4p for $18 which includes one main course (tonkotsu, bulgogi, fried chicken, tteok bokki, kimchi fried rice) + soup + salad. We came for dinner and got the kbbq combo with short rib + bulgogi + soondubu soup for $65. Pretty pricey but the soondubu broth was so delicious. They only have one option of soondubu (spicy tofu soup) that contains preset beef onion and enoki mushrooms. The soup was not that spicy at all. It was very oily, maybe that's why it was so decadent and delicious. The banchans were very limited and it felt uncomfortable to ask for refills as they didn't seem to like it. Probably because it's catered to a more non Asian crowd which normally don't ask for banchan refills. But my favorite part of Korean food is to taste all the various small side dishes, especially the kimchi. So that was a bummer. Overall great food and I'll definitely come back for the spicy tofu soup. My favorite banchan was the spicy green onion salad. Not spicy at all and so delicious. Glad this place exists since not many Korean options are available in the nearby area.

I just got Kim chi fried rice to-go bc I forgot to bring lunch for work. As a Korean, I'm high critical of the Korean food I eat out. The dish was okay.. it was kinda too salty for me. The rice was a bit too dry. I just wanted a quick lunch but I'll probably give the donkatsu a try next Time!

Great little spot for Korean food. The vibe is casual and the service is friendly. I had the tteok-bokki lunch special which came with soup and salad and was very affordable and tasty! My husband also tried the bulgogi bowl and I tried a bite, very flavorful. Would recommend stopping by!

Always my go to spot when I want a quick and somewhat healthy meal that doesn't leave me feeling regret after eating! The pork katsu is always super crispy, and I love the banchan of pickled radish and kimchi , their kimchi is packed with flavor! I also love that their katsu sauce is served hot. If you ever get it to-go, I recommend heating the sauce up before eating if it cools down. The rice is always perfectly cooked and has a nice soy sauce sweetness to it. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to often!

We sat for probably 10 minutes before anyone greeted us, it was 3:30pm so it wasn't very busy, maybe 3-4 other tables. Every time someone came after that we had to wave someone down for water refills, never asked anyone if we wanted more drinks from the bar, nothing. Had my father in law asked for more ice tea and they never even started a new pitcher in 15 minutes. It was not busy. The place had a to of gluten free options which is a reason I wanted to try it. My server had no idea what gluten was. For a place that had half the menu marked as gluten free I was really surprised she really had no knowledge of the menu, but she was nice enough to go ask some questions when i pressed a bit that I wasn't vegan, and it was like an allergy. The food was good, portions were large enough and everything was pretty good as far as the food. Not sure why the service was so incredibly patchy and absent when we ate at 3:30 and the place was 2/3 empty. It was pretty good, I may try again but for the price point I think the service can be a little better. Nice...but slow. Definitely need more training on the menu! Mid. Not bad. Not great.

I started off with the Elote street corn appetizer and thought it was great. It was corn ribs, and every bit of it was very tasty. I know that sounds a little dubious for a Thai restaurant but though the default is more mild, the flavor is still there. This is good for those who can't handle spice but still want flavor. This is the main reason I didn't round up on my rating. The expectation is to lean spicy or at least be asked what level. I should have asked for more spice but honestly didn't think about it at the time and was more focused on the company I was keeping. Not a huge deal for me bc the flavor was still there but definitely to be noted. I'm up for going again but next time I will ask for more spice.
