Only drive thru is open dining room is closed for some odd reason. I guess the employees don't want to do too much work. I see a line of customers waiting to eat inside and there no sign explaining why they're closed. Also the employees seeing that there's customers outside waiting to go inside with no drive thru line, they could have the courtesy of coming out and explaining to the customers. The last time I came here and got down to eat inside it was closed. There was no sign no nothing and the drive thru line was insane. Will not come here again. I have attempted this particular El Pollo Loco a few times and have never been moved. However last night was PARTICULARLY BAD. There are many reasons but at the end the cashier who didn't even know what was on sale informed me that THEY WERE OUT OF LETTUCE so I couldn't get a basic tostada. I was done. I was barely 9pm and they had NO LETTUCE? He offered me the tostada with cabbage instead. Is it because I'm white? I shouldn't know what a tostada is? Just looking - At leat 70% of their items (with meals) offer lettuce (salads.) Tried this location a few times during this crazy pandemic but quality of service is just (mostly) lacking. Last time I went there I received half of my order. Called to ask what they planned to do to correct and they offered to double what I was missing or something. I don't recall exactly what was offered but it sounded good and would have been happy with just a corrected order but got a bonus instead. Drove back to the restaurant for my food plus bonus. However, getting to this resolution took a monumental effort on my part. I had to call several times and was passed around to various employees at least as many times asking the same questions over and over. I honestly don't think it should have to be that aggravating and painful to simply tell a manager that something was wrong with an order and have them correct. Now, this recent visit my order was, again, wrong and missing items. Lady who brought my food out assured me everything was in the bags. Okay, I trusted her this time. Hindsight is always 20:20 and I should have inspected the bags on site. I ordered 16 pieces which was correct. Amazing, huh? I also ordered 3 sides and received 2. I ordered 3 types of salsa and received 1 type. Does the restaurant have someone checking the order before it gets placed into bags or, at least, at the same time? They have the order printed as their checklist. Missing an item from the order? Add it. Too much of an item? Take it out. I'm all for helping local businesses, even chain restaurants, but if they continue to make mistakes it's very discouraging to the customers. Where's the incentive to return? I tried calling but no answer. I tried 3 times. Now, not all is negative with this location. The food I have managed to receive has been good although they could cut the amount of salt they use by half and it would still be super salty. Definitely not a Pollo Loco fan of any kind; not a fan of overpriced chicken, not a fan of finding out something is missing from my order once I get home and definitely not a fan of a consistently filthy restaurant interior. With ALL that being said, this review is strictly for the Spicy Serrano Overstuffed Quesadilla. I only ordered one item which pretty much eliminates the chance of being handed a bag missing any items. And of course I used the drive thru so I bypassed the filthy interior. But at a whopping $6.01 otd for the wrap only, my concerns were heightened that this too is overpriced. This is a hefty wrap filled from wall to wall and holds some weight. It was creamy, crunchy and satisfying with every bite. The serranos were not very spicy but what would you expect from a mass market restaurant. With every bite being chased with a beer, I was quite full near meals end. El Pollo Loco has something on their hands with these overstuffed quesadillas. I can only hope the "limited time" advertising will turn into a menu staple. It's the only item I'd return for. Try not to compare with it's crunch-wrap competitor because you definitely get what you pay for in regards to this. Everything about this wrap is bigger, fresher, tastier and just overall better. After ordering I needed help with getting our drinks and food to the table. The gentleman who had helped bring our drinks to the table also went and picked up and brought our food to the table. The commercial shows a tortilla full of chicken. In reality, not much chicken and a lot of gluey cheese. I would have enjoyed it better if they cheese was a better quality, but it was just gluey. Not only obsessed with chicken but craving ol'Pollo Loco, which many traveling on I-5 or CA-46 would know to be one fast food joint that doesn't exist. We craved it going up to NorCal, failed to get our fix, and were withdrawing from it on the way down. We begged Siri [on the iPhone 4S for those of you who are not aware] to show us the next Pollo Loco and to our horror...130+ miles!!! O-M-G. W-T-F. Okay, if I get pulled over due to these withdrawals, I'm just going to cause a cop chase that will end 130 miles later. Yeah, no way you CHP peeps are going to stop me from getting to my much needed end destination. Yes, 130 miles later...I accidentally flew past the exit for the first Pollo Loco branch. I could almost hear SIRI screaming IDIOT NASCAR DRIVER in my ears as she quickly picked up the next spot to be just 7 miles away [meh, just a 3 minute drive]. If you wonder why I flew past the exit, I was on the fast lane coming down the end of the mountain stretch and didn't get enough time to cut that many cars packed tightly together like they were streaming to save gas [tards, just pop it on neutral, and cruise down at 90 mph]. Anyways, we got to this Pollo Loco just 5 minutes before closing [2200 hrs], ordered the 10 piece drums and thighs, a couple packs of flour tortillas, pillaged the salsa bar, and began feasting like two zombies on a live cow. Of course, I grabbed all the drumsticks and my friend was more than happy to settle with the five thighs. Drumsticks were PERFECT, which I found absolutely satisfying at this time in the evening. Only problem...the bone in the thighs were pink...all of them. I think he would have changed it were he less hungry but he ended up eating around it. Anyways, sad, pink at the bone for chicken thighs. I personally don't care since I rather have chicken drumsticks at Pollo Loco any given day. I like El Pollo Loco, this location has helpful staff. I go for just the chicken and tortilla's - not sides and it's always consistent and delicious. Go fro the straight chicken, I don't do the fancy "bowls" or "burritos". Keep it simple. Fresh salsa, the salsa bar can be a mess sometimes but this is by far my favorite fast food. read more

Went there yesterday and everything is a little weird with the covid safety measures. We ordered our food and went and sat down. They made our food, placed it in a to go bag and set it on the counter behind the salsa bar. Mind you that we are in the restaurant and it's not busy. After 20 minutes I went up and asked where our food was- the guy says, "oh here it is- it's been sitting here for like 15 mins".... only 2 customers had come in behind us in that 20 mins so again they are not busy. They just decided to not call our number and let our food sit there. So my salad was warm from sitting on chicken for 15 mins while being ignored by the staff. I'm upset at this point that the employees ignored food they set to the side for dine-in customers. I inform him that we also are missing our drinks. The cashier goes and pours the drinks, sets them in the same space that our food was forgotten in and walks back to the register to take another customers order. I'm standing at the counter! I had to interrupt him again and ask that he hand me the drinks he just poured for me. On top of all that, the lettuce was brown on the edges and my "double chicken salad" only had about half a cup of chicken which is less than half than I'm used to receiving at other locations. No wonder they hid this one behind an iHop. It's terrible. read more

I love the crazy chicken, but this was my first visit to their pico canyon location. It's a little tough to see from Lyons, so you have to know its there. (very easy to see from freeway, but it's tucked behind the ihop) traffic on Lyons is zooms fast so watch yourself. People can be jerks! Okay. Why do I love the crazy chicken? Well. The food is fresh and there are lots and lots of non-processed foods available. That's an important thing to someone who avoids fast foods and additives - to me, this place is healthy food fast instead of fast food. I had the carne asada tosta bowl today. Very yummy. (I don't eat the tostadas, but I snapped off a small piece and it even had a good taste - so many places, the tostadas are rancid and nasty!) They were surprisingly busy, but the place was very clean and the woman at the counter, Letticia, was a smiley helpful, pleasant human. I like that, so I'll visit this location again. I called the restaurant to let them know and ask them to remove the contaminated sauce and manager told me it looks ok to her. First of all, the Black Bean Bowl was missing Broccoli and had corn In it. Which I was willing to overlook until we opened the tostado bowl container and could smell right off that it smelled weird. Well turns out it was spoiled. Luckily only one smell let us know it was rotten Or somebody would have been violently ill. Barbacoa Burrito has fresh avacado, lots beef&rice. Tortilla chips are crisp and lightly salted, not stale. Rice pudding is creamy and rich, rice is cooked good. Churros; warm, crispy(not crispy enough, too soft), but have BAD aftertaste! The oil maybe? Go compare churro ingredients and let me know. :/ Green salsa they offered me(3of em, thx) is mild yet refreshing and goes well with the burrito. I placed an online order this evening for my husband to pick up on his way home from work. We seldom go to El Pollo Loco because the closest one to our home is 8 miles away. I placed a very specific, a la cart chicken order, as my family prefers white meat. (7 breast and 10 legs), also, extra large sides. (I have 4 teenage kids and a hubby to feed). When my husband arrived at home, I INSTANTLY knew the order was incorrect because I could see the small sides. Well, THANK GOODNESS I made a few extra sides because the order was COMPLETELY WRONG!! not only was the chicken not what we ordered, the sides were the wrong ones and wrong sizes! We also got the wrong tortillas (we ordered flour, got corn). I ordered salsas and we got NONE. I can go on and on about each incorrect item. My order totaled $64 dollars. what we got was about a $30 order. So here I have a family of 6 to feed after a long day of work and school, and enough food for 4 at best. I tried to contact the location to inform them of the mistake and perhaps have them offer free delivery to bring the missing items. I called the store over a dozen times. rang and rang and rang. I never got an answer. So now my poor husband has to go out of his way again tomorrow to try to get reimbursed for the over charge. We will see how that goes. fortunately, we have the receipt, which has listed the incorrect order and the receipt from my online order, as well as pictures we took of the food they gave us. My hope is that they make is whole. Oh, and this is NOT the first time ive had issues with this location. almost EVERY single time I go through their drive through, I will ask for all white meat breasts, and their reply is "let me see if I can do that, we may not be able to" IT IS A CHICKEN RESTAURANT, THAT IS WHAT THEY SELL!!! I've gotten great service inside El Pollo Loco. Give the inside expletive full stars for their good food, fair pricing and good experience. I would give the drive thru four stars. The reason is because the service inside is a dash better and I get the salsas that I want... whereas the drive thru they give me little salsa. If they wouldn't cheap out on the salsa in drive thru, I would stop by a little more often. Overall, the place is a 4.5 stars (I rounded up). read more

The food here is decent although the salsa bar gets quite messy as the employees are not always on top of their game. I've seen changes in shift managers at this location over the years and the current shift manager named "Hernita" pronounced "ernita" is the worst. She is very rude and loud to customers perhaps due to over work and under pay. There was an issue redeeming EPL promotion on the app and rather than wanting to resolve the issue, her answer was just call the 800 number. You know what? I refuse to waste my time calling the number. I would rather not patronize the restaurant when "Hernita" is there. Hernita seriously needs to take a refresher course, Customer Service 101. read more
