I have been to this pollo loco multiple times and by far this has to be the worst pollo loco in LA county. Some how they always mess up my order specially when its to go! The food here is decent although the salsa bar gets quite messy as the employees are not always on top of their game. I've seen changes in shift managers at this location over the years and the current shift manager named "Hernita" pronounced "ernita" is the worst. She is very rude and loud to customers perhaps due to over work and under pay. There was an issue redeeming EPL promotion on the app and rather than wanting to resolve the issue, her answer was just call the 800 number. You know what? I refuse to waste my time calling the number. I would rather not patronize the restaurant when "Hernita" is there. Hernita seriously needs to take a refresher course, Customer Service 101. read more

El pollo loco has been a go to for many years for a quick, healthier dinner option over fast food. The service and decision making process at this specific location was very bad. On a normal Friday night with an average crowd my wife and I placed our order for a 10 piece family meal. The cashier was nice and executed her job. We sat down to wait and in roughly 3 minutes are buzzer rang, we were stoked thinking are food was ready. I go up to the counter and Angel takes my buzzer and said "your food will be out shortly." I responded by asking why my buzzer was going off. He replied, "because the timer will show we are taking to long. There is no chicken ready, its cooking" I then noticed 4 additional customers all turning in their buzzers and being told the same thing. We waited roughly 25 minutes past that point for our food to be ready. Please see points below on why this is a 2 star: 1) We were not informed there was no chicken ready and the length of wait prior to ordering/paying. 2) Angel was worried about the timer average for serving customers rather than actually serving them. He called the buzzers back in very early to falsify the average wait time of a customer. Bad ethics and on top of bad customer service. 3) We finally we received the food without an apology for the delay. 4) How do you run out of cooked chicken at El Pollo Loco?!? I understand restaurants get busy but their is never excuse for bad ethics that Angel showed and the wait time that occurred. read more

The staff is rude and must have the salsa discounted from their pay. I was waiting at the window asking for more salsa (I ordered 10 pieces, 3 tacos, and a burrito and only got 3 green salsas) The girl at the window ignored me for about 5 minutes and when I tried to get her attention she rudely gave me the "wait!" finger. I think I've waited long enough waiting for you to acknowledge me... she then came to the window and gave me another person's total and got pissy faced when I asked her for the salsa I had been waiting for. This isn't the first time I've had a terrible experience at this location. They are consistently rude and mess up all the time. Every time I come to this store they mess-up my order. I even started to order online, for pick-up, thinking that would be more clear as to what I wanted. This last time, I ordered an 8 piece meal and 2 large side salads with creamy cilantro dressing. I get home to discovery they forgot the dressing! This location has gone down hill very rapidly. I ordered food on the website and chose curbside delivery. We arrived to pick it up and called them multiple times with the call going to a generic voicemail each time. Okay...we will go inside and pick it up even though we chose curbside. The dining room was closed...at 1pm on. Sunday! No way to pick up the food or notify them that we were there. There is also no "We are here" notification on their website. Drive through was open but there was a huge line of cars which defeats the purpose of ordering ahead. Needless to say we left without our good and very aggravated. Now I'm trying to get my refund and they don't answer the phone. I guess I will just do a charge back through my credit card and they will be charged a charge back fee. read more

First of all if you manage to even arrive before closing they'll never fail to make an excuse as to why they can't serve you. I work as a business consultant, this place is a case study. Here's what's wrong: 1) Long line during lunch time, restaurant has two registers but only one open, worker going very slow, about 15 minutes just to order. 2) I had a coupon for $1 off. Employee had no idea what it was nor could he figure it out. Since he didn't know he gave me a 10 % Senior Discount instead, I'm not a senior, got 70 cents off. 3) Found an empty table, very dirty. 4) Pollo Loco strives on getting food ready in 2 minutes, took about 12 minutes. 5) Got my food. Salad and broccoli were good, but chicken was burnt and dry. Tasted awful, yet ate it as I was starving. (There is an AM/PM across the street, after I left I went to buy a Milky Way bar to get rid of the burnt aftertaste). there's more ....... 6) The line to order finally ended. When it did the employees behind the counter went into chatting mode, with themselves. This while every single table was filthy with food all over. 7) One family saw a table, of course it was dirty, they called one of the employees behind the counter to clean up. He did. The problem was, that's the ONLY table he cleaned before gong back to behind the counter. 8) There was absolutely no room for the trash, all the trashcans, at least four, were filled to the top. Customers were placing their dirty trays on top of more dirty trays with residual food as no one from the restaurant made a round to clean them. 9) At one point there were no empty seats for customers. Girl worker goes on her brake and takes the only available booth in the entire restaurant (a both which seats 4 people). A father and a little kid almost got the table but the girl beat them to it. She didn't even notice. The father then says to his kid, "you wanna sit outside?" 10) Same girl sitting by herself on booth that seats 4 people decides to put her feet up reaching to the other side of the booth. All around her there were napkins and food on the floor, and right in front of her one of the trashcans that was completely filled to the top, along with the dirty trays with food on the side. But of course, she's on break. Had I known I would have never stopped here, whoever manages this place should be fired immediately. read more

With this many staff and almost every table was dirty one way or another. The whole place had trash on the table, on the sitting area, and on the floor. Staff with such attitude, especially the so-called "team leader", Rosa. Had to get her name off the name tag. She was so rude and treated the customers like she was doing us a favor by serving us. The man wasn't the nicest drive through employee I've ever met. But I'm sure he's had a long weekend with all the traffic of people coming home and leaving. Anyway, I ordered a double shrimp bowl with corn tortillas and asked for green salsa. I got a chicken bowl red salsa, and flour tortillas. I caught the red salsas and asked for green before we left the window. I was willing to deal with the flour tortillas as I noticed those while we were driving off but we stopped in the parking lot and I noticed the bowl was wrong too.husband just got back in the car and they took my flour tortillas back but the line for corn was 20 minutes!!! Once he got to the window, he was then told that they now have run out of CHICKEN! When he asked how that could be they told him nonchalantly that they run out of chicken every day around 9:30. El Pollo Loco can be a pretty healthy fast-food choice if you do it right. My friends and I had to last-minute pick up food to bring to dinner. We got the 12 piece mixed family meal with their signature mango avocado salad and two sides and churros. $30 for the signature salad meal, not too bad. I love the crazy chicken, it's more flavorful than a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. It is 220 calories for the breast with skin and 179 calories for breast piece without skin. The mango avocado salad was pretty good! I'm picky about churros, this one was a little too chewy! I just ate half, but who is counting :p read more

I do not know what happened to this place, but we usually eat here on our way back from LAX and The food never disappoints us, but this time after eating here my stomach hurt SO bad! AND the chicken was BURNT! I ate it because well, I was hungry and I was with my in-laws and I can't make a big deal but this was really bad this time. Everything else was fine, I do know what I ate differently which was the avocado sauce and the churros but the chicken was not the business, usually it isn't burnt and I guess my family likes it that way but it was not happening for me. I also dislike the restroom, there is only ONE stall and there is no sign when you lock the door that it says 'occupied' or 'vacant'. If I would have known their food would give me a stomach ache, I would have not ate it all! Maybe next time it will be better. HOPEFULLY. read more

Hubs & I really like EPL. However, we were very disappointed when the store on Magic Mtn Pkwy closed because they were consistently yummy. Both remaining stores (Pico & Via Princessa) have repeatedly sold us chicken that had little of the trademark flavor and was undercooked. It doesn't have to be that way. Stopped by to pick up dinner. I got home, and the chicken looked like it had been overcooked, and not by a little bit either. The chicken skin was as close to leather as you could get without a cow, and the leg and thigh I tried was a challenge to eat. Come on guys, the only thing on your menu is chicken. After waiting 15 minutes in line with only 3 cars ahead of us. Not sure about eating in a restaurant with chickens being cooked constantly throughout the day. This El Pollo Loco is located right off the I-5 South Exit. Its hidden behind the IHOP and just before the Carl's Jr. side. I went to the drive thru and ordered the Chicken Tostada Salad ($4.99). I had a coupon for $3.99 Chicken Tostada Salad. Not bad $1 off. My total was $4.38. With my Chicken Tostada Salad came with Two Creamy Cilantro Sauce, Two Avocado Sauce, and Two Regular Sauce. When I got back to work, the tostada bowl was quite nice looking. Although, I doubt it was made onsite or made awhile ago. It had sour cream, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and, of course, the chicken. It was delicious eating from top to bottom. The chopped chicken didn't seem to be from the chicken on the grill, but it could have been. I was hoping to taste a little grill flavor on it. I had a good lunch. I think I have been to almost every location in this area. Let's see...Carl's Jr, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Subway. I guess I need to try something not Fast Food...lol.
