I don't know if the food was good or not it was never delivered. In the past when I went for pick up it was delicious. I placed my order online, as a treat I picked "delivery" for the first time and waited on my porch for "Khalid from Postmates" to deliver, he never came. I checked their "tracking service" and it said my food had been delivered, nope! They have my food and my money and I'm eating a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich for my Mother's Day meal. I called pollo loco, they said not our problem, call postmates, I called them the phone is disconnected, I sent message to Khalid, received message that the message service is not operational after the "delivery"!!! I went to this place on Monday night, after a long day at work, I had the worst experience ever, the restaurant is dirty, you can see the yellow walls with grease all over, even the decorative pictures that are hanging on the walls are full of grease, the seat cushions look DIRTY AND GREASY, and the customer service is awful, I order the 8 peace meal and the cashier asked me if I will like to order an additional 8 pieces for 5 dollars that I said "NO" at that moment, but after talking with my husband who was talking on his cell at the time of the make it or brake it question, he said go ahead and get them but I was informed that it was too late," if you don't say yes at the time of your order you are done". Even the manager confirmed it....there is no way to add them or correct the transaction... Then the order comes, The chicken was overcooked and in some areas was burned, the meat was extremely dry.... I was really happy for not buying the additional 8 pieces. Their double chicken avocado salad is a staple for me as they are located down the street from my work. I exclusively use the drive through which is convenient and the service is usually good. A few times I've been handed my salad with the bag turned sideways, really? More frustrating is to return to work and find half the avocado on your salad is more brown than green. If I hadn't experienced other Pollo Locos, then I might have rated this location higher, but this is probably the worst one I have been to. Considering the abundance of fast food in the area, I would probably pick another place. Directly next to Pollo Loco is: Chipotle, Del Taco, Taco Bell, Wing Stop, In-N-Out, Carls Jr. This is just directly next to Pollo Loco. If thats the case then why leave the drive thru open? It is a great option for a quick pick up for dinner, however my salad came with a side of paper wrapper mixed into it. Not appetizing at all. So usually i loooove this place. But the other night i bought a big family meal from here and i had some mashed potatoes left over. I decided to go back the next day and see if i could buy a small amount of gravy for my leftover mashed potatoes which i had brought to work for lunch. I went and aaked how much they would charge me for just a small side. The lady asked her mananger and they told me a price that was actually more than purchasing an actual side of mashed potatoes lol. I have no idea whefe this total came from but i was confused how that worked. The girl at the window was super nice she always is very nice. But her supervisor that day was realy not kind. Well there was cheese and no pico and it was smallest one I have ever received (little hardly any beans or rice). I called to let them know about their error. Do not go there for take out in their skinny take out lane. Will pack your food (which is good) in a cheap bag, but they do not pack take out correctly. Will spill in the bag or worse, in your car. Have told them twice, to no avail. Not cheap, don't want half of a $30 order in the bag or on my car floor. Other than that, which is major, recommend for chicken and the corn is very good. As the food was coming out she handed it to him very forcefully and shut her window. My family has been eating at this El Pollo in Pittsburg, California since it opened up around 10-15 years ago. It used to be great. The chicken was always fresh and cooked perfectly. However, around 4 or 5 years ago everything began going downhill. I don't know if they got new management in or what the problems are. The chicken pieces began being much smaller in size than before. The cooks began overcooking the chicken, and 98% of the time when we go here in the last 4 or 5 years, the chicken is dried out, and often so dried out that the meat is leathery and inedible. We have complained time and time again. We have returned our meals time and time again and asked for fresh juicy chicken pieces. We have left reviews time and time again. But no one ever listens. No one cares how the customers feel. The management never changes. They continue to do the same bad things over and over again. So therefore, as of today, I'm never going to eat at this El Pollo location again. We ordered 3 chicken meals today, and like usual, the drumsticks were dried out and leathery, and very small shriveled up pieces. They replaced the meat for us, but we should not have to return our meat almost every time we go in there. Years ago (probably 10 or 15 years ago when this location opened up), we used to eat at this location around 4 times a week and the chicken was always excellent. Ever since things began going downhill 4 or 5 years ago, we began coming here less and less, but no less than once a week. I am fed up, because they never change their ways and cook the chicken right. They must leave it on the grill too long and the flames are turned up too high and burn and scorch the meat. Obviously, the management does not care and refuses to change their ways. So therefore, they have lost my family's patronage, who have been loyal customers for years now, and I'm sure that other regular customers are probably getting fed up with the lousy quality of the chicken too. When we go the Concord, California El Pollo, or even sometimes the Stockton, California and Merced, California locations, the chicken is always normal size pieces (the grocery store does not even sell chickens as small as what the Pittsburg location offers). At the other El Pollo locations, the chicken is always cooked perfectly (not overcooked or undercooked, and never burned with high flames). I would not recommend the Pittsburg, California El Pollo Loco. The pinto beans, mashed potatoes/gravy and loco salad are okay, but the chicken pieces are usually dried out, burned, leathery, and very small pieces. We order legs, thighs and breasts, and all of those pieces are always dried out and burned. We've put up with this terrible cooking quality for the last 4 or 5 years, and we won't put up with it from this day forward and will never visit this location ever again. They need new management and new cooks! Also, half the time the servers get the order wrong, and we have to return the meals to get the order right. For instance, they will give us the wrong side dishes, the wrong kind of tortillas (give us corn rather than flour), or the cooks will give us the wrong chicken pieces we did not order. Half the time, the side dishes are not filled all the way to the top lid (when we order meals to go), and we feel jipped. Enough is enough! We're not putting up with their lousy cooking and service anymore. I guess we will have to commute 20 miles to the Concord El Pollo Loco when we feel like having their chicken meals. read more
