El Pollo Loco is one of those restaurants that once you try it you will often crave to eat it if you haven't been there for a while. This is a location close to the Costco in Santa Rosa if you happen to pass through the area back to the Bay Area. The place is right next to a miniature golf place so you may turn in too soon to the wrong parking lot if you are not careful. I love the Roja (fiery) sauce for the chicken and it definitely has a delayed kck to it which I enjoy. Even if you don't use any sauce the chicken is juicy and tender. The chicken avocado burrito is ok in a pinch when only a drive through will do. Staff is actually pretty good. But we are talking fast food.

There is no reason a fast casual chain outlet can't earn a 5 Star rating. I recently stopped in after downloading their app, for which you are instantly awarded a free guac and chips! The guac has solid flavor not some pallid mushy watered down bs. Win #1. The place is clean, customer service was awesome. I was rewarded a tostada salad for my birthday. You get a choice of that or a 2-pc grilled chicken meal. They offer Bírria to stay current with the quesabírria trend that's all the rage these days. I'll sure as hell come back and give it a try because of my experience here. For just a few bucks over a Taco Bell schwag-fest you can enjoy fast, tasty and pretty wholesome offerings here instead. I don't eat here often, although I enjoy the food here. Tonight I decided to dine in and unfortunately my experience was not good. For starters, it appeared they were short staffed. The cashier didn't speak good English, bless his heart, I give him an A for effort, however I had to repeat my simple order 5 times, and waited 12 mins for my food, just for it to be the incorrect and cold. My boyfriend went up to the counter for our food, i noticed when he sat down part of the order was missing, so I went up to the counter and waited another 6 mins to be acknowledged, i then mentioned I'm missing the my 2 piece chicken, I was told you didn't order chicken? I was so confused, so I asked for the receipt and said well if that's the case I'm not sure what I paid for. They got the assistant manager, they spoke in Spanish back and forth, I started to get impatient and still politely said I just need my receipt, I guess they ran out of receipt paper, so they couldn't print me a receipt. Finally I said can I please tell you my issue? I then told him I'm not sure what I was charged for, yet my order is incorrect, he the listened and pulled up my order and finally gave me my chicken, at that point the whole rest of my order was completely cold and nachos were soggy. Although this is a fast food establishment, the quality of food is WAY better than KFC or Popeyes. This is fire grilled chicken and their sides are great too! Yes, sometimes there is a wait when you come in to order. If they run out of chicken, wait times can be 20-25 mins for a new batch. But, the meal is so good that I dont mind waiting. Most of the time, I order on the app and I swing by to pick up on the way home. I always order the 2 piece breast meal with 2 sides. It also comes with 2 flour or corn tortilla. The only thing that knocked a star down is sometimes if the chicken is overgrilled, the chicken breast become DRY. Most of the time, the chicken is grilled in a way where is it soft with a little juice left. Customer service here is not bad. I have never had a bad experience. They take your order quickly and the people here work hard. They are busy grilling, cashiering, or manning the drive through. They are friendly as well and will get you anything you need- extra hand wipes or utensils. I will come here over any other fast food joint anyday. Keep it up El Pollo Loco! read more

Super good tasting chicken!!!! I love this place. What I didn't know is that you can sub different parts of the chicken for the order. I got a 3 piece and I got the breast, thigh and wing. This chicken is so delicious. Reminds me of Huli huli chicken but grilled and full of taste! So the chicken is great and so are the sides! The salad and mashed potatoes are great! Would you like a bee, wasp in your burrito? I've only been to El pollo Loco once(San Pablo location) years ago. I picked up a bbq chicken burrito & was heading home on the highway. I was so hungry I decided to take a few bites. I suddenly felt a piercing sting in the back of my throat, driving 70mph on the HW. I went home & drank a ice cold beer faster that eve mr before. There was a bee in my burrito. I can see how this can happen as they have a griddle filled with chickens with the to go window opening all day, night long. My throat swelled up to the size of a massive mango. I did reach out to the company to inform them, they called back one yet would not follow up with my return call. Some people would have lost their life if allergic to bee stings(especially in the throat area. Some people would have filed a lawsuit, I just wanted a thoughtful response! read more

This particular site seems to make mistakes with orders on a normal basis. For a long time after lock down they had the lobby closed which added to wait time and mistakes. Could have been a staffing issue, who knows. After consecutive mistakes I do not spend money/energy there anymore. This location used to be great. The staff are a little rude with an attitude and I could hear arguing in the back. You might want to hire new people that are a little nicer. Ivan or something I don't know. I heard him talking rude to some employees a while back. I was thrilled when I heard El Pollo Loco was coming to town. I lived in San Jose area for a few years and every once in awhile I'd get a craving for their chicken's distinct flavor. This is the only fast food place I'll go to, despite their employees being completely unsure what's in any of the foods. Me- " Does the sweet corn cake have wheat flour in it?" Her- "Wheat flour? In it?" Me- "yes, like the kind of flour you make bread with, is there any in it? Or is it made with flour you make the corn tortillas from?" Her- "um........." That said, I'll keep coming for the chicken, the smell and the taste make for a very nostalgic experience to me, and despite it being fast food, it's relatively healthy, and I've never had a bad dining experience here...except for them not informing their employees of what they are really selling. The tables tend to be left dirty sometimes.. and I'm not sure how often someone comes around to wipe down the tables and clean up... but overall, it's not bad as some people have mentioned...
