Absolutely unbearable. I don't know what's going on with the AC in this El Pollo Loco, but walking in feels like stepping into an oven. It was so hot inside that I could barely enjoy my food--sweating through my shirt while trying to eat a chicken salad is not the vibe. And the worst part? I wasn't even supposed to come back. Last time I was here, they messed up my whole order, and I told myself I was done. But then I saw the new salads and thought, "okay, maybe one more chance." Big mistake. How do the employees even survive a whole shift like that? It's uncomfortable for customers and honestly feels like a health issue waiting to happen. Their food was cold, no season, when the employees spoke to one couple in English but spoke to my party in Spanish even though we spoke in English they continue to speak to us in Spanish. This is the third time I've asked for no cheese and there's cheese on it anyway. We even stressed that I can't have it, and it's really important, and there's still cheese. It looks like it was put on out of habit and then they tried to take it off, but it's feta crumbles. There's still crumbles all over it. I'm just tired of nobody taking me seriously. The chicken was awesome cooked to perfection extra crispy skin on the outside of the chicken , however the rice was bland, the mashed potatoes were instant and also dry , the mac and cheese was good real cheesy and the beans were the best part of my meal . My recommendation is for you to pull out of the parking lot of El Pollo Loco at 1133 SW Military Dr. in San Antonio and go one block west on the same side of the street to Casa Del Kabob at 1027 SW Military Dr. Case Del Kabob has moist, tasty chicken with friendly service and they get the orders right. We have been to this El Pollo Loco several times in the past. The food has always been good, but service and what is available could be iffy. My husband went to get take-out around 8:00 pm on a Saturday night. The dining room was dirty and the salsa bar was half empty with food everywhere but in the containers. He ordered the 3 Piece Fire-Grilled Chicken White Meat Combo which included 3 pieces of chicken, 2 small sides and a small drink. For me, he ordered the Avocado Taco Al Carbon Platter which included 3 tacos with rice and beans. After getting the cups for the drinks, he went to the beverage area. He first tried the Coke dispenser and the Coke sign with nozzle fell off into his hands. Next on to the Dr. Pepper, which gave only clear liquid. Then to the Sweet Tea container which was empty. Finally, the Unsweetened Tea which was bitter and over brewed which was the drink he brought home. At home (major mistake - look at what is in the bag before you leave), we open the bag with the food. The meal he received was 2 chicken breasts, 2 half chicken wings, charro beans, rice, 2 flour tortillas and a small plain ice tea. The meal I received was 2 tacos, 2 corn tortillas and a small plain ice tea. Where is my third taco and what happen to my rice and beans. I got 2 tacos and 2 corn tortillas for $4.00 each. I am giving the $ 0.29 for the drink I poured down the sink. My husband chicken was dried and over-cooked with little flavor. The sides were OK. The best think about the meal was that most of the containers are recyclable and that starlings will eat almost anything. We will find out tomorrow with my second taco and tortillas. OMG, I've been to El Polos from California to Virginia Beach for 20 years and they are all just like this one, perfectly authentic Mexican food where all the locals enjoy lunch and dinner. This is the first El Polo I've been in that the manager, little Hispanic mother, comes around and asks about what you think of her food. It was a delightful conversation. We visited on a week night and found business a little on the dirty side.
