I was minding my own business this afternoon and suddenly had a craving for a good New Jersey style Italian hoagie. To be more exact, I wanted an Italian hoagie from Joe's pizzeria and sub shop in Somers Point, New Jersey. To get even more specific I wanted it to be from the 1960s, when I actually lived there. I'm not even sure if Joe's still exists. Unfortunately, I have never found a hoagie in San Antonio that measures up to those in my memory. I went to Jersey Mike's when it first opened many years ago, but but I was not impressed. I felt like I was eating a tossed Italian salad on white bread. Today, all these years later, I took a chance on Jersey Mike's again. This time, to avoid the salad issue, I asked for the lettuce to be left off completely. That made a very big difference. The flavors that I wanted to taste were coming through. I think next time I need to ask for extra onions and more oregano, but it was on the right track. The only thing I didn't like about it today was the bread. I don't even know how to tell you what was wrong with it. It just wasn't Somers Point, New Jersey style hoagie bread. It was too soft, didn't have the right chew, and had a taste to it that just wasn't right. Even though it may not have been exactly what I wanted, it was the best version I've had in San Antonio. Ordering online is horrible. First time and last time. I went into location for the first time a few days ago and they were quick and friendly. Used Yelp online order and it was horrible, said it'd take around 20+ min for 1 sandwich to be ready, but when I arrived I'm sure it had been sitting for a while. Then I had to order another and the cook was excellent and quick, but cashier was slow as a sloth. Literal sloth.another online order customer asked to speak to the manager and she was too busy trying to see what they were taking about instead of getting orders out the door. Yooooo.....these subs were the bombdiggity Nathan had no problem explaining Every meat and bread to me with out getting irritated, he was very professional,& well mannered yes mam and also helping me make sandwich choices sense this is my first time trying this place out. The inside is clean, all the shelves are fully stocked as well as the beverages. You can see the employee make your subs fresh right in front of you which is awesome for so many different reasons. Excellent sandwiches on fresh bread. Today i went with the tuna sandwich and added, lettuce, onions and pickles, the perfect combo. Tuna wasn't dry like other places tend to be bread was excellent tasting as well. Added a side of jalapeno chips ABC's and a drink. read more

Best all round sub shop if you want a real what I call yankee sub. Fresh cut meats & bread authentic taste brings back memories

Came in because I got a coupon for a free regular sub. Asked right way to the young lady with curly black hair that i had a coupon for a regular but wanted a giant. I asked how much would it be. She paused for a few seconds and then said well...... i guess you would pay for another "half". I paused for a few seconds and asked " so is that the right answer" since she guessed? She made a few faces and never really gave me a straight answer. She also got short with me a few times. I told her that the answers seemed shady. If a manager sees this, please equip your team members with the proper answers to the questions so they aren't guessing. Since she "guesses so". Also, answering an answer with I'm not sure goes farther than being short with someone who comes to your establishment quite often. read more

This is the worst Jersey Mike's location. We've order 3 times from here and they always get the order wrong. Even when I'm right there telling the cook how I want my sandwich. What's so difficult in making a #17 with only the steak and onions No cheese, Extra onions. Once they forgot to add the onions, once I was told I had to pay extra for extra onions which I don't mind paying extra, and always they add cheese. I even used Uber once and they was wrong too. I think they should hire cooks than can read and follow directions. read more

Blows every other sub joint out of the water. Like, completely off my sandwich radar. I think it's the bread that does it - soft & chewy, but still firm enough to hold up to a decent dosing with the oil & vinegar "juice" without resulting in a lapful of soggy former-sandwich salad. Or it might be the sliced-to-order meat and cheese. .. no sitting around in tubs of pre-sliced petri dishness, this stuff goes directly from case, to slicer ("is that enough? Would you like more?" ) , to your dreamy bread. The pickles are pretty magic though too. Then again, it could be the secret squirrel Mike's Way spice sprinkled on top. Who knows - it's all just one perfect collision of sandwich heaven. I love the option to order through their app, emailed coupons, and the Shore Rewards which garners you free sandwiches the more you stuff your face. ..awesomeness! The only ways Jersey Mike's could possibly improve would be to extend the hours, at least a little even (I'm a late-night girl, people - work with me here! ), and to offer authentic Italian ice. .. Stephen was my server/cashier and he was great. He could tell that I was having a difficult time with my decision.. He let us know what everyone's favorite sandwiches are - but then let us know his own faves as well, which kinda made the experience a little more personal and was a much better answer than "well everyone else gets..." I actually ended up getting one of his fave sandwiches - i wanna say it was a number 17, I hadn't even looked at it until he suggested it as one that he liked. I have been eating Jersey Mike's since a male co-worker took me here in 2014. He knew I was a picky eater and was like, "if you like Subway, you'll love this place." A great choice that now, I don't even eat Subway. Jersey Mike can be on the expensive side when it comes to subs, but for a giant, you get a lot of food. I love my sandwiches Mike's Way. My husband was craving for a good sub sandwich and this place was the closest to where we were. I walked in and it's similar to a Subway restaurant but everything is made fresh and cut when you order it. Their sandwiches come in two different sizes and it said that a regular can feed one to two people so I decided to go with this since I wasn't too hungry. I ordered #55- big kahuna chicken cheese. My order took a little longer than the customers behind me since they ordered a cold sub and mines had to be cooked. I asked for it to be cut in half and they had no problem doing so. They were friendly and thanked me for my patience. I ended up paying a little over $11 for a combo. The sandwich- It was actually smaller than expected, even though I wasn't too hungry this barely made a dent. It was very tasty and the jalapeños was hot enough for me. I love how cheesy it was. Great tasting Subs! I always order delivery. Drivers are punctual and very courteous! However, they are not consistent on "double meat" orders. It's really disappointing when you pay the extra fee for double meat and you get a regular sandwich. Other than that, they beat the every time. read more

Ok first of all, you need to wipe the slicer. I did not appreciate having all those previous orders including turkey all up on my roastbeef. The employees do not balance the ingredients and looked at eachother and smiled when they put way too much spices on my sandwich like a private joke. Being a sandwich fan, I had to try this place when it opened a year or so back. After eating here, I no longer go to Subway even though the subs are more expensive here. The bread is delicious, it's soft but has some body to complete with the rest of the sub. The vinegar and oil "juice" is tasty as is the pepper relish. The pickles are awesome, not your regular hamburger dill pickles. They added avocado to the menu and that's a good thing. I personally go for the cold Italian sub or the chiltople philly but all the other subs are good. The staff are great and friendly. I have been here enough to wait in line and it can can a while for the meats to be sliced, so be patient. Yeah paying by card gives you an option to add a tip, but I've NEVER gotten any sour looks from the employees when I press No. And there's a slider bar to add/subtract the tip amount. So horrific in fact that they should be legally be forced to remove Jersey from their name because there is nothing jersey style about that food. But Brianna the cashier and Carlos, who stated he was the manager manager had serious attitudes, we ordered the regular sub, and decided to get the Giant sub instead, Carlos started throwing things around, in the meantime Brianna was standing with her hands on her hips, my fiancee asked do she mind changing gloves b4 she finish our sandwiches, she rung us up, same gloves and stood there, then she changes her gloves, my fiancee asked her to not make her sandwich Mike's way and Brianna snapped at her really ugly. There steak and cheese is great and the chicken sandwich was also good. I did notice that the giant sandwich got a little smaller then when the store first opened. But one thing that really disappointed me was behind the counter. Thhe floor was really dirty, there was a lot of paper, food, gloves the garbage can was over flowing I only saw 2 people working I would still go and eat there sandwiches put if it continues to be dirty I would stop going there and that would be a shame because I really like there sandwiches. I like this Jersey Mike's location; however, I visited today and I noticed an unsanitary action. The young man had on gloves, then worked the register where money is collected and he used the same gloves to make sandwiches. As he was preparing to make my sandwich, he pulled bread out and I asked if he could change his gloves and grab me another bread, he put the bread he previously grabbed back in the container....that was very unsanitary as he touched so many things (money/pen/cabinet door) prior to grabbing that bread. They def need to be aware of their actions...gloves need to be changed often or let one person run the register while someone else make the sandwiches. read more

So I went to this store about 8:50p. I could tell neither of the guys working there were happy to see a customer walk through the door close to closing. Guy asked me what I needed and I let him know a 17. Guy pops an attitude about the grill and I tell him what's up. You don't have enough meat? Guy replies with something about the grill to himself but I pay no mind. He starts cooking and I'm watching him the whole time. He cooked the meat for a solid minute and I look at the meat and it was red on the top. He covered it with cheese and bagged it up. The cashier took his sweet time counting my change trying to piss me off. Long story short I got home took off the cheese and the meat was uncooked. I drove back and got my money back. The cook said he didn't do it on purpose. He saw the meat so he is full of crap. Both of these guys are poor examples of good employees. F this place I'm never going back. 0 stars! read more

Then he took his gloves off and rang me up. While he did this 2-3 other employees just stood there and watched and the line got longer. I used to be a supervisor for starbucks and know how placement works. This store really needs some help.
