I thought this place couldn't get any worse than when I tried it last. I was wrong. I will start with the most important thing, the food. The chicken was so dried out and the pieces are very small which left nothing left but the bone. The tortillas were stale. I had to basically take off the ends and eat only the center. The sides rice, beans and salsa are good. The only thing is that they are so cheap with the salsa. They feel ordering a family meal that two small salsas are enough. When You ask for more, the clerk with say "it is in the bag" which it is not. The lady that works the window is very rude and kept getting the order wrong even with repeating it several times. After repeating the order, the drinks are all wrong let alone did not receive the churros that we ordered. She just practically throws the bag of food at you. I've been coming to this specific Yucaipa location for years and it's only gotten worse over time. They have a sign up outside of the restaurant that says "FAST DRIVE THRU" but that's never been my experience. In fact, my order almost always has a problem when I drive thru here. Food on floor. Tables, many, had food particles where they weren't clean. Bathroom had no paper towels. Greetings seem shallow and only for the purpose of what corporate rules expect. Service was shallow and seemingly unwelcoming. Salsa was clear with tomato pieces and cilantro, or something green? The El Pollo of 10 years ago isn't existing anymore. I just had to repeat a simple, one menu option order 3x for her to repeat it back to me correctly, and then when I got the order, there were still two mistakes. Food was good! Service was very poor. I went in the drive thru and had a larger order. I went up to the window and had a QR code for a free large drink. The code didn't work and the cashier (Caucasian, blonde) girl let out the biggest rudest sigh and rolled her eyes and said how I didn't say I had a code for a drink when I ordered. I told her it's fine to not use it and she slammed the window shut anyway. She was scanning something else they had inside and I was trying to get her attention for like 4 minutes until I finally did and let her know I had already stated it was fine. This kind of behavior with fast food workers is intolerable, unacceptable, rude, and disgusting. If you can't handle scanning a QR code with it failing, then maybe you shouldn't work at pollo loco, or any fast food establishment at the rate she's going, give this job to somebody else who will VALUE having this job and customer. I even went inside to speak to whoever was in charge and i understand they were in a rush but this was a serious concern that needed to be heard. Bought a double chicken salad in tostada shell. I eat at the yucaipa store but tonight I went to the. CLosest one in Beaumont, CA. The salad is probably the worst salads I've had from a el polo loco. The meat was dry and looks burnt. Lettuce was not the freshest. The drive thru person didn't ask if I wanted and Salas or any thing extra. So I looked at the National advertised commercial of the El Pollo Loco chicken bowl. It looked delicious! Juicy cubed cut chicken, fresh salsa and succulent frijoles. I thought I would give it a try. What a grave mistake! The food was crap. What they did was they raked in the remnants of what they had from other orders and probably scraped it off from the countertop into the so called "Pollo Bowl!" No fresh cubed chicken. No fresh salsa (pico de gallo), and over cooked beans! Dry, dry, dry! What absolute crap! ***Attention and Alert*** to Pollo Loco of Yucaipa! Make it like you advertised it or don't make it at all! We came in @ 10:47am on Sunday morning since we tried to get coupon through online. It said if you order $25.99 or more you will get $5.00 off. When you went on line it did not give us $5.00 off. It also said that you need the code to get discount but there was no code. My husband try to see if the manager would honor the on line coupon since it wouldn't give discount. So because of the virus we had to get our food 'to go' via the drive thru. Normally we either eat inside or at the very least pick up our order in store. The drive thru line normally is long and today was, no surprise, also a long line day. Even for an early 5:30 pm dinner. I put my order thru the app, which you would think would be pretty flawless so long as you type in the oder correctly. Which I did, because I checked and reviewed my order multiple times. Not only that but my order was super simple: 8 pc family meal with mixed chicken. I normally only eat white meat so I paid the extra 4 bucks for the mixed. Well, no surprise, the drive thru line took forever and my toddler was at home with her grandparents so every minute counted. Finally we got to the window to pick up our order. We asked for extra napkins and they said there were already some in the bag. Now I know lots of you are thinking 'this is where you should have checked your order to make sure it was right.' Um...no!! It shouldn't be our jobs as the customers to make sure the work is correct! They have one simple task, prepare an order, and they can't even take responsibility if they mess it up?! Plus now I'd like to see you tear apart the sealed 'to go' bag and dig through all the food in your car, usually making a mess, to make sure it is all correct. And even when it's not correct, I'm not about to return anything and have to wait another 10 minutes for the correct order while my toddler is going crazy at home. Alright just had to vent about that. So we got home and wouldn't you know it: they messed up my simple order! It was all dark meat chicken! So I paid extra for nothing!! And also there were no napkins in the bag. So nice of the workers to forget that too during a time when we can't even buy napkins in the store. I called the store and talked to the manager and she offered me a free large side and to refund me the difference for the mixed chicken. It was a whole ordeal because I was visiting my mom so we had to talk to the store owner to see if my mom could get the deal. Finally they decided to let my mom have the cash back and the free large side. My mom was able to pick it up today. She said everyone was really nice about it. I would have given 4 stars because they remedied the situation but they still forgot our napkins, messed up our simple order, and it was actually really difficult to get ahold of the manager (I spared you the painful details). My local Pollo Loco (Yucaipa Blvd & Oak Glen) has lousy customer service and careless workers, but I keep going back hoping that one day they will change. This lack of customer service existed before COViD and I'm sure it will continue thereafter. On 5/31 at 350pm, the drive -through workers handed me my order covered in creamy cilantro dressing (container leaked on the order). Rather than preparing a new order, the workers decided to clean off the dressing from the contents. They did a piss poor job of getting the order done right or cleaning up the contents. IT IS NOT OK to hand a customer a messy order; the customer PAID for the order; this isn't charity. I post this review only for the store manager. I could have called in a complaint, but this isn't the first time the customer service has been lacking; this is just the first time that it has severely annoyed me. normally, I would give this El Pollo Loco 4 stars. however, their lunch service today was disorganized, the employee who took my drive-thru order (by the name of Carmen) wasn't listening to me. I had to restate my order 4 times before she got it right. then when I got to the window, I discover that she didn't put in half my order. the guy at the window was apologetic and sent the order back. they got it done for me quickly but when I got the food home, my burrito was completely wrong. instead of shredded chicken, it had giant chunks of chicken that looked as though it had been torn from a drumstick. instead of guacamole it had three pieces of avocado. red sauce instead of queso. when my husband called to tell the manager about what happened, it turned out to be the woman who took my order. she kept insisting that the burrito was made correctly and was quite rude to my husband. it was a very unpleasant experience. read more
