The food was awesome. I had the Platillo Del Mar which is fish and shrimp. Seasoning was delicious and the portion was large. My wife enjoyed the Vera Cruz which is shrimp and grilled chicken. We had the house margaritas which were very good with excellent tequila. Service was outstanding. I don't usually take the time to review, but this is a must-tell! read more

Updating review because we went back this past Thursday and had a wonderful experience! On Thursday nights they have live music (which was amazing), and the bartender (Donna) was a riot and provided excellent service! A complete turnaround on the vibe, and I can't wait to go back because the food is always awesome. Wish they'd dim the overhead lights a bit, but otherwise this place is a MUST! read more

I had a really good experience at El Potro on Cinco de Mayo. I dine alone a lot but I try not to take up a table for one on a "holiday" but I was really craving fajitas and a margarita. When I told the hostess that I'm a party of one, I already felt the need to start apologizing but she said it was no big deal at all and I could tell she meant it. As soon as my server, Nathaly R., arrived I was already telling her that I'd be quick and sorry for taking the table for just one and blah blah but she was hearing nothing of it and assured me it was absolutely no big deal. She checked up on me often and I never felt rushed. I gave into the experience and let myself enjoy my meal without a rush. I had the Texas (Texan?) fajitas and they were super good as was my margarita. Amazing portions too. They were very busy but the staff seemed to be in a good mood and I saw them joking around with each other and people that seemed to be in management checking in on the servers and dropping food off at tables. A bit disappointed. This isn't "real". It is cooked fast-food style and quality. Cheap cheap cheap steak: mostly blubber for ribeye. The rice has texture of boil in a bag and no flavor at all. Mush. Bland bland bland. I've eaten here seven or eight times with friends and we all cringe about our food quality: we've yet to see any Mexican cheese on anything. We each have been served food that has some sort of canned white cheese: save that for the ballpark frank's. Its a horrible excuse as a Mexican stand-in cheese. None of us can claim "delicious was my food." A few friends have already begun to "ummm, not this time" when we get a group to go eat. I love the booths and deco. We want you to be successful on this corner, please give us "real." And do away with the junky stuff. read more

Recently opened, took my mom for a birthday lunch. Great food, great atmosphere, awesome staff... highly recommend! The owner came out and chatted with us, it's a family owned business with a few locations (Apopka, Winter Park, and Dr. Phillips). Great people, welcoming and comfortable. Stopped by for a quick lunch. Ordered a modelo lunch#6 and asked for a shot of el jimador tequila which is on a lower end as far as pricing goes. The lady pours 1oz shot which is fine. Get my tab. Issue #1 i got charged for anejo while she poured reposado. Issue #2 $14.99 for 1oz shot?! I should have been told when everything else is cheap. Issue #3 i was never asked if i want blanco, reposado or anejo. They automatically charged for the most expensive one. Called the restaurant after calming down a bit. The manager was as helpful as a chair in the middle of the field. Never going back read more

We dined there last night. The food was delicious. I agree with their claim that they make fresh, authentic Mexican food. I also found their prices to be very reasonable. Best customer service out of any place i have ever been. I had a to go order and it was ready in 10 minutes and every person that walked by was SUPER friendly and asked if I needed help. They even gave us free four tacos, chips, salsa, and queso just for forgetting one very very small thing. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone who wants GREAT mexican food and GREAT people. We have been excited to try this place out for a while. We walked in and were greeted right away. The service throughout our whole time there was outstanding. Every staff member was very friendly and attentive. We came for lunch and the portion sizes were perfect and at an amazing price for what we got. Huge rave about el potro Conway location! I order often from el potro and absolutely love everything I've ordered. Last night i made a large order for 8 people with Uber eats. Unfortunately the driver only brought the bag of side items and left 4 bags behind. Myself and the el potro Conway owner tried to contact the driver repeatedly. Eventually the owner got in touch with the driver who said he would not be returning for the additional items as he "no longer knew the address". I ended up calling el potro to see if they had the food / to see if maybe i could just come to pick it up. The owner was extremely apologetic and let me know of his efforts to reach the driver. The owner insisted on driving the items to us himself. I even tried to offer cash to pay for his troubles which he declined. He was at our home shortly after and all the items still hot and delicious. This is a restaurant i already loved and now will frequent and support even more.
