I ordered the asada and pastor tacos, and I thought the flavors were more traditional than those of other taco places I've tried in the area. The prices were reasonable, and the location was great! The only thing I would change is the salsa. I usually enjoy spicy Mexican salsas, but neither of the salsas was spicy for my taste. Everytime I visit Zion national park, this place feeds me well. I usually have tostada salad with stake as my favorite! I tried rolled taquitos today and it was so good too as I expected. I wish I live next to this restaurant so that I can have it everyday! read more

I've lived in SoCal for 2+ decades as well as traveling across US. I have long said the best Mexican food outside Mexico is San Diego and LA. If you are in the same camp as I, this is the place for you. If you're staying in or around Zion or even passing through, this is a MUST. Authentic and the flavors are outstanding. This was nice Mexican food but the frijoles has too much lard. I asked if they had green chili but it was either tomatillo or a jalapeño mixed green chili. The food is fresh but not outstanding. I recommend they get Mexican cokes too! read more

Low quality food. We had high hopes based on the reviews. The Chile Relleno plate was dismal. The beef burrito had white mush (we said no beans). The French fries were undercooked. The chips and pico were decent. I can't even begin to describe how bad this meal was so please look at the pictures. The lady who took our order was very nice. This is a hole in the wall which does not bother us. It was the food that was so inedible that bothered us. I don't like rating places a one star but I feel that the 4.5 star rating this restaurant has is not genuine. read more

This is a totally average restaurant. The food is perfectly adequate. It will not be the best meal you've ever had but it certainly will not be the worst. We ordered chips and salsa. Chips were fine but the salsa was Pico de Gallo. It was fine but it wasn't salsa. My son had a tamale that was good but served without sauce. A tamale needs sauce. He also had chicken taquitos in which the chicken was rather burned. I had a chicken enchilada with green sauce that was actually pretty good. My chili relleno was ok but barely warm. My rice was also barely warm. It appeared much of our food had been inadequately microwaved. Much like the food, the service was rather cold, especially compared to other restaurants in the area. We ate in the restaurant. I think this restaurant is geared more towards takeout. I also think (know) there are better places to eat in La Verkin and Hurricane. read more

Great spot for good Mexican food in Utah! Being from southern California, I'm typically less than stoked on Mexican food when out of state, it just doesn't typically hit the mark. But this little gem is amazing! My wife and I ate here a few months back on our road trip to Zion and Upper Antelope Canyon. We stopped in on our way out of town and the lady who runs the place wasn't quite ready to open up. She told us it would just be a few minutes and so we waited, and we're glad we did! The pupusas were amazing and the tamales were on point! The salsa roja was awesome too! Stoked to find alegit Mexican restaurant with a nice lady running it! I love Mexican food so will try almost any hole in the wall place along my travel route. El Rancho restaurant looked like it had potential but alas the food was just average and at Mexican restaurant it's all about the food. I ordered two cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. Beans were meh. Rice had decent flavor but was a short or medium grain and not the fluffier long grain. The cheese enchiladas were made with a Mexican blend of cheeses like you would get pre-grated in a bag from Kraft at the supermarket and not a nice, traditional Mexican style melting cheese. And the cheese was a little burnt in places. All in all, an average meal served on a plastic plate with plastic utensils. Edible but forgettable. read more

Had the Carne Asada Burrito and Chicken Tacos. Burrito was really good. Rice , Beans , Meat with Fresh chopped Cilantro. Came with a creamy hot sauce which was awesome. The Chicken tacos were very good also. All fresh ingredients. Everything was great. Price was high. Street tacos were $3 each, Burrito was $10. $17 for lunch pricey. Native Southern Californians here...where we can get some of the best if not the best Mexican food outside of Mexico. My family and I were coming off a trip to Zion and Bryce and were hoping to grab something outside of the tourist area where we knew we could have some breathing room and support a mom and pop spot. Low and behold we found El Rancho. Obviously right up our alley. Seems like a fairly new restaurant, very clean with its own parking lot. Limited menu but much bigger than what we had seen on Yelp for them so that was a win right there. Our order: Tacos de Asada Tacos de Barbacoa Tamale de Puerco (pork) Tamale de queso w/ jalapeño Revuelta pupusa (chicharon, cheese, beans) Rolled Taquitos Side of rice and beans The tacos were great, typical "street taco" size and the Barbacoa was AMAZING! Tender and flavorful. Tamales were homemade, the pork tamal was not skimpy on the meat and the cheese and jalapeño was perfect! The masa on the pork tamal was a tad dry but nothing some salsa didn't fix right up. Taquitos were made with yellow corn tortillas which I always prefer. You get a better bite! Rice was good and my husband really liked the beans. The salsas were fresh and full of flavor. The hot was hot without being too hot and the green had a nice mild kick, both had great flavor. Our daughter the pupusa and she couldn't have been happier. The staff was a mother/son duo. Son on the register and getting drinks (horchata was great) mom cooking it up in the kitchen with love as she came out to tell us and greet us. We e see up ordering a few more tacos and took another pupusa to go. This will definitely be a stop for us going in and out of Zion. We recommend. It's fresh, homemade and authentic. We found this place after a half day of hiking in Zion. It's about 30 minutes from the national park and it's just a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant off the main road. We came in for a late lunch, around 2:30. There were not a lot of people in at this time. We ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito (they do breakfast all day!) and 3 street tacos. The food was made fresh in under 10 minutes. The burrito came out piping hot and it really hit the spot after several hours of hiking. Although the menu is a bit limited, the food was amazing and authentic. They also have horchata and aqua fresca, although all the ice in the container had melted by that point in the day so we decided to skip the drinks this time. They don't have a drink dispenser, they only have a fridge with bottled drinks like soda in it. Overall I would absolutely come back here. read more
