This place is hilariously bad. I wouldn't go here for anything but the drinks. The food is overpriced for what you get, eg my 12 dollar dinner plate that didn't come with cheese. That's an extra dollar. Just make burritos at home and save yourself the trip. read more

Came here with a few friends for the happy hour and ended up staying for dinner. I tried the Cadillac Margarita, which was tasty and strong. Definitely a good bang for your buck! I never like the overly sweet margaritas that feel like a guaranteed hang over, so this one was great. For dinner I split the shrimp fajitas with a friend. The sauce on the shrimp was delicious, and it came with a generous portion of sides- tortillas, rice, beans, pico de gallo, cheese, and guacamole. I also tried a bite of the Molcajete Vegetariano, which I'd never heard of before. It's similar to a vegetable stew and included yummy nopales. Friendly service and colorful atmosphere. If you're looking for a casual but delicious place for food and drinks, I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Overall, I wish I would've never wasted my money here. I ordered off of hungrybuffs and it took forever. I understand that's probably not the restaurants fault, but when I examined our order we were missing two of our dishes and the chicken chimichanga we ordered came as a vegetable one. Not trying to be too picky I attempted to eat the chimichanga, but there was literally nothing else inside the burrito besides carrots and zucchini. I called to let them know that our order was completely wrong and they told me it must be the delivery drivers fault and that they'll send the right food. First of all I am writing this review on behalf of a few others in my party in hopes the Yelp filter won't take them off the site. Me and and three of my friends went to Rincon in hopes to catch the happy hour margs. We did and decided to order some food. While I can in no way rave about the quality of the food (the quesadilla was soggy and greasy while the same can be said for the chalupas) that is not my main reason for my 1 star review. When my friend found 3 hairs both inside and on the exterior of his burrito-- and I am being generous when I say "3" because I am almost certain there were 1 to 2 others, but I digress -- we told the server and she instantly said it wasn't hers. After we looked slightly puzzled at her response, she ended up getting her manager. He instantly said the entirety of the kitchen staff was bald and it couldn't be from them. He left and came back with a piece of hair on a towel and looked at my friend and said "this is your hair" which, of course, is accusing my friend of planting the hair in his own food. When we looked perplexed at this he said that he gets "greats reviews from people your age" and, if we don't like it, "then just don't come back." I'm just disappointed at the lack of customer service with the person managing a restaurant that has multiple hairs in the food. I'm no Michelin-star restaurant frequenter but I truly believe some more care should be taken towards someone paying for overpriced, frozen, and soggy food. read more

Not bad, not bad at all! Service was good, but then again I spoke to the staff in Spanish so it made it easier & more pleasant. Ordered the Taste of Mexico so I could sample a few of their menu items at once, let's just say we ate about 1'ish and I didn't eat NOTHING else for the rest of the DAMN day! The Carne Asada was pretty decent! The "chicken soft taco" (can't remember the actual menu name) was yummy! The Camarones Diablo were delish, however the mound that appeared to be on the plate turned out to be 5 shrimps & a pound of mushrooms. The refried beans were NOM NOM NOM & had been sprinkled with some Queso Freso my FAVE! And the Guacamole was FRESH and tasty and SO good! Definitely going to return!!!! read more

This place just keeps getting better! We have been patrons of this restaurant for years and like it even more since Senior Froy is running it. The food is authentic and consistent, the service is super, great beer and drink options. Some of my faves are the soft chili rellenos, grilled veggie tostadas, and the vegetarian molchahete (sp?). I'm one of those people who just drinks water all the time. I can buy drinks if I like, but prefer water. So does my buddy, so we both ordered water. We both tried it about the same time & gave each other the same ugly look. The water had soap in it. I noticed that 3 servers standing nearby watched as we tried the water. Now I'm not going to go so far as to say we got soapy water as an underhanded sales tactic to get us to buy drinks, but we both immediately ordered beers. Almost cold beers. I hadn't seen my friend in a very long time, so I didn't even notice until I got home that I got the wrong meal. I only noticed it as I looked at the receipt and noticed the price difference. Then I noticed I was charged for and served a different meal altogether...another 40%. Communication with our servers was poor. We had 4 or 5. Maybe more? We waited 20 minutes for change. They weren't busy. And yet I somehow feel compelled to give this place an extra star. That's because the kitchen almost killed it. If it weren't for the dried-up & very plain white rice, which was mixed in, the meal would have been impossibly good. But that did no favors for the texture & dragged the rest down to just average...that's being kind. You probably won't bump into me there, but if you're feeling lucky, it seems like the kitchen is at least capable of producing a tasty meal if you time it right. Ordered a margarita and some food with my out of state ID. They made a huge scene accusing me of using a fake ID, called the manager over multiple times to get me to "confess". When I insisted it was real and asked whether I could still order food they were incredibly rude and never served me. This has been a favorite for years until a recent glitch. I ordered the breakfast (served all day) huevos rancheros w/scrambled eggs. The eggs were served runny over easy. I sent it back. When it was returned the eggs and the underlying tortilla had been dumped on the grill, chopped up into a mess and served back to me. Completely unappetizing and left uneaten. Made do with the rice and beans. My companions meal was served as ordered and enjoyed as usual. The original margarita is still the best in town. It's hard to figure out where to start considering how bad the ENTIRE experience was. Not only is the "cheese dip" actually Velveeta cheese but both of our orders came out wrong. Once our correct orders actually came (we ordered the enchiladas), the food was abysmal at best. The enchiladas were literally tortillas with shredded chicken in it and wrapped with tomatillo sauce on top, nothing worth more than $3. The food is decent, but not very spicy (I like HOT mexican). The portions are large for dinner, definately enough for lunch the next day in a doggie bag. The two for one margarita deal - from 3 to 6 pm- cannot be beat (with free chips, salsa, and bean dip). However, the kids meals and drinks are very expensive. Also, sides of sauce or guac are over $2 for a tiny amount. The up side: locally owned and operated...very friendly staff...good food. The down side: even for Boulder it is over priced - especially for such a lax environment. I paid over $40 for one tamale, one margarita, and two kids meals (of pre-packaged nuggets) with fruit juice to drink. Bottom line: if it is within walking distance from you AND it is between 3-6 pm GO THERE NOW!!! Our usual Mexican restaurant was closed and so we settled on Rincon Del Sol....we wish we hadn't. It was loud, the drinks were awful (Sangria), the waitress messed up the order and the food was poor at best. I wouldn't recommend this place as there are far better, and cheaper options within a short drive. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give it no stars I would. The only thing worse than the food was the service. The waitress took our order and we never saw her again until we asked for our check. We had a shredded beef and a pork burrito. they mixed up the green and red chili so we couldn't eat one of them Since our waitress never came around we couldn't let her know. Saying the food was bland would be a step up, it had no taste. What we did get were two burritos that were at least 98% rice, very little meat. If you enjoy crunchy-undercooked rice, runny beans, and enchiladas filled with chicken that has no seasoning, this is the Mexican restaurant for you. First, the service was unbelievably poor. We asked for a refill on chips and we never received a refill. Our glasses of water were also never refilled. They remained bone-dry empty for the entire meal. And we couldn't ask for a refill on those, because we did not see our server after she took our order and didn't bother to check back in. Second, the food is not worth the price. I love simple Mexican food with good flavors, with a side of rice and beans. I got the enchiladas with the "spicy" sauce and it had no taste. I've come here more times than I should, with a large group of coworkers or with a small group of friends (6-12, or 3 or so at a table). There have been times when the service was slow but usually it's very good. I think those slow times were only because the place was so slammed and busy. It's not always busy at lunchtime but every time I've been here, the food has been great. I've tried several things that I really like and I have to say the refried beans are really ridiculously good. We are all a fan of the 'best in town' margarita (maybe called 'the original'?), my whole team at work loves going here for those. It's better than margs at Efrain's IMHO. The menu has a huge variety compared to some places. My friend who usually loves the bowl of green chile at Efrain's likes to get it here too, because it is not as spicy, but better flavor. Overall, there's a whole mob of us who love this place and I know most of them don't even use Yelp. We have after-work or lunchtime meetups here with former coworkers at least once a month, if not more. The only thing that I did not think was as good as some of the competition was the street tacos - there are restaurants whose only offering is street tacos, and some of theirs are better. Not all, though. They are still really good. Also we are often given a shot of something delicious on the house after the meal, and the service is very friendly regardless of the freebies we get :) read more

The Rio does not have the best margaritas. If you want the honest-to-goodness real deal with rocks and salt, this is your place. (Happy Hour is two for one!!) There was a brief management change that I think caused a few bad reviews a while back, but the original owners and chef have been back in place and things are great again. This is our favorite place to go out for a tasty, but not expensive dinner and enjoy a margarita or two! Their house margarita is yummy and strong ( you only need one) and they have a variety of flavored margaritas that are also great. If you are adventerous they have some traditional mexican recipes (vs. tex mex) with various sauces that are exceptionally good. And, the wait staff is funny and friendly while providing great service. My husband and I use it as a "date" spot in addition to going out to dinner with friends and family. read more

Molcajetes; de carne or seafood! You must order out of the ordinary at this restaurant. Any place in town can roll a burrito - nobody in Colorado can create a chicken and shrimp Molcajete like Rincon Del Sol. Steer clear of the typical margaritas and order one with fresh juice, or better yet, order a Michelada (rarely seen on Mexican food menus in Colorado). We've eaten here as a family, met friends here for happy hour, hosted book group in their vast banquet area and passed platter upon platter of steaming food family style. Went to the restaurant a few days ago and my wife and I liked it so much, decided to write a review. I dont get the negative reviews of this place. I've eaten a ton of mexican food all over the country in recent years and this was best I've had. I assume a lot depends on what you order. The sangria was absolutely the best. The chips, bean dip (you have to ask for it but its free) and salsa were very good and they brought my wife and I refills for free. I had cocktail de camarones dinner (kind've a mexican shrimp cocktail and vegetables) and there were a ton of really good shrimp. Probably the best I've had anywhere in the country. Asked to have tortillas, instead of the usual crackers, and they gave it with no charge. I thought the service was good and the owner checked on us, to make sure everything was OK.
