    Carne Asada (no beans)

Stopped in with my family for the first time and we loved our meal. It's a small place but colorful and quaint. I was hesitant at first because you could drive by and miss it if you weren't looking. But the heaps of good reviews made it hard to not try. It was lunch time and only one server but he was working hard and did great. I ordered the Huevoes Rancheros, my Hubby had the Chorizo and was, my two kiddos had carne asada and son-in-law had a combo platter with chicken enchilada and chicken tamale. My meal was good....I've never tried Huevos Rancheros so I don't have anything to base it on. But it was good with the runny egg, covered in red sauce and melty cheese on top of corn tortillas. It came with the standard sides of beans and rice but I even thought those were really tasty. My kids had the carne asada which is their go-to meal. The noises of pleasure coming from them meant they loved it. I snuck a piece of meat and can agree with their ooohs and aahhhs! The meat was tender, juicy (not overcooked jerky) and had a great flavor. My son enjoyed the crispy charred edges. Both said this was in their top 3 carne asada plates. My hubby likes his chorizo and eggs but did say he thought it didn't have enough flavor. But he mainly likes pork chorizo so I am wondering if they serve beef chorizo.? So his opinion may simply be based on his chorizo preference, don't mind him, you may enjoy it. My son-in-law had the chicken enchilada and chicken tamale. He was also making noises of satisfaction and said multiple times that he likes it and liked the place. He's from the Yakima area where Mexican food is in abundance so I trust his judgement.

I see why this place gets highly reviews. Everything was good; food, service and the authentic atmosphere. The margarita was not bad and I could taste the tequila. The chimichanga was actually really good and not bad for its size. I love chips and salsa. However, not a fan of theirs. While I appreciate that they are free it is one of the things that drives me to go out for Mexican food. Still, it won't keep me from coming back.

This little gem tucked in downtown Coeur d'Alene delights on so many levels. The menu sings with creativity and fresh ingredients -- dishes that feel both familiar and excitingly new. The salads are vibrant and full of flavor, the sandwiches genuine, and the soups comforting yet elevated. Every item tasted thoughtfully composed and lovingly prepared. The latin-fusion theme works beautifully here: big flavors, fresh produce, and a sense that each bite is crafted with care. What really elevated the experience was the service. The owners and staff are so welcoming, friendly, and attentive that you feel like a valued guest, not just a customer--maybe we are valued seeing that we have been going for almost 17 years! The cafe has a warm, genuine vibe -- modest in size but rich in character. The setting is casual but polished, making it ideal for a relaxed lunch that still feels special. We appreciated the personal touches: the owner checking in, offering suggestions, making us feel comfortable and engaged. * Every dish came with freshness and bold flavor -- no filler, no compromise. * The service made the visit memorable. * The fusion concept works and doesn't feel gimmicky -- it feels right. * It's clearly a place that cares: about food, about guests, and about craft. If you're looking for a lunch spot in Coeur d'Alene that's just a little bit different -- full of flavor, personality, and warmth -- Café Carambola is a must. I especially appreciate the off menu items the owner makes me at every stop because I don't eat me. For my fellow non meat eaters, I suggest the La Potena no meat, extra jalapeños, and a side of their off menu habanero sauce!

Tally was the most understanding and action oriented I have ever encountered at a restaurant and I've navigated my allergies with 100s. She checked with the chef and we had a plan for a delicious sea bass meal. I was coming from out of town to celebrate my best friend's 80th birthday and already Tally was all over this monumental day to make memories. She was so positive with a can do attitude. Reservations were easy We arrived and again Tally greeted us like we were here good friends. The setting is fabulous as is the decor and vibe. She set us up with an incredible server, Mark who was soooo personable and gave us just the right amount of attention. My sea bass entree and my friend's asada tacos were truly out of this world delicious. And then the complimentary birthday cheesecake was absolutely the cherry on top. I will drive 3 hours back to Terraza for special dining. Parking is complimentary and so easy.
