This was our first time here and this cozy little spot is a true hidden gem! The restaurant may be small inside, but the warm and inviting decor makes it feel so comfortable and welcoming. Every detail adds to the charm. The servers were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the warm, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Now, the food... wow. Absolutely delicious! Every dish is packed with authentic flavor and made with such care. I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food I've had anywhere from Hollister all the way up to San Jose. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and everything tastes homemade. If you're looking for incredible Mexican cuisine in a cozy, beautifully decorated setting, this is the place. I can't wait to come back!

Pretty good overall. About average service. The restaurant was small, but had a nice outdoor patio. It was about 4:30pm on Saturday & it was not busy so one would expect faster service. I'd say the best part was the drink. The tacos were very average, but tasty. At the end of the day it could have been better, but I'm full. I'll try and update a review my next time in Hollister.

First time ordering food from here. Got a potato with bacon and egg breakfast burrito. Was expecting something hardy that would fill me up. When I received the burrito I was like where is the rest of it lol. For $10 bucks not worth it. Flavor wise it was ok nothing special. Potatoes were bland needed some seasoning and their green salsa was kinda acidic.

The enchiladas americanas were just ok. They were also small as were the rice and beans portions. I might have enjoyed them more if they spent a few more minutes in the oven. I'm not sure the tortillas were even cooked at all. I got the pollo in one and it was tasty. The container in my pic is small so it looks like there is more than there really is. It comes with pico, guac, lettuce and sour cream. My husband enjoyed them more than I did. Everyone was nice, everything looked clean enough. $18 for this.

Very happy with our gauge breakfast burritos. Next time i would get no beans but still delicious. The chorizo was great and not greasy at all. We both had food left over!

Not impressed. Flavorless taco, uncooked tortilla, unflavored beans. I ordered shrimp tacos and the shrimp is chopped up cooked like ceviche style. Nasty! My kids tacos de asada were made from stiff cheap meat in huge chunks. Nasty food.

It used to be good. Order a fried fish tilapia. It looked like a gold fish size. Over cooked. More Like gold fish chicharrón.

This unassuming restaurant is located in the same corner lot as McDonalds! I usually order the Seafood Mariscada! It is a HIT every time! My fave dish! The girls are all so lovely and sweet! The food is consistently delicious! And I know every time it will hit the spot!

Last night at El Riconsito was amazing, not only was the food amazing the customer service was phenomenal. Our hostess Estefania greeted us as soon as we walked in the door, with these times and face masks its difficult to read people's facial expression but Estefania made sure we felt safe and comfortable every minute we were there. We had quesabirria tacos with consome and the cheese would just melt with every bite. This restaurant is a must.

Michelada. Ate two shrimp already, muy delicious.

The food was okay. My brother had a burrito and I had the enchiladas with rice and beans. The burrito was soggy and the enchiladas weren't the tastiest. The service was also okay. There wasn't a long wait but the waiters didn't know what table the food went to. The people were nice. read more

The food is good, we come here often. Unfortunately the waitresses/servers need some guidance when it comes to customer service. They are never friendly, are always rushing. I've never left the place with a "WOW" factor regarding their customer service. Luckily their food is good and that's what keeps the business going. read more

After living in the area for almost 7 years we have FINALLY found a good Mexican restaurant!! We ate at El Rinconcito. My husband had the Chilaquiles and I had the shredded beef taco lunch plate. I really liked the tacos and there was a generous amount of meat in the tacos. I knew my husband liked it as he didn't talk at all while he was eating! They didn't serve chips and salsa, but maybe it was because it was a little early. Two thumbs up, we will be back! ------------------------------------------------- 4-21-18 Had to up date my original post. Unfortunately this place is now off the list. We went for dinner tonight, what a disappointment. My husband ordered a burrito with carnitas. When the burrito came, it had carne asada in it. My husband asked about the meat and was told we don't have carnitas. So instead of telling him this when he ordered, she just 'ass'umed he would like asada, which he doesn't. She then got defensive and said, are you going to order something else??? He should have, but ate something he didn't want to. I ordered a corndog for my son. When we got it, it was cold inside and had to send it back. I would say if you go only go for breakfast. Their rice and salsa are good, but otherwise we won't be back. The hunt continues. read more

So disappointing. We went because of the great reviews. The food is mediocre to poor. The rice was bland and flavorless. It desperately needed some salt or spice. The enchiladas were tiny with about a tablespoon of sauce and very dry. The cheese wasn't melted. Don't waste your time or money. Seriously, Taco Bell is better. read more

I live in Silicon Valley and every time I go to Hollister, I eat here. This place is in the Top Three of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Seafood such as fish and shrimp is their specialty and it never disappoints, but they also have both American and Mexican breakfasts (decent coffee) and I've seen menudo and possole, too (on the weekends, if I recall). Tired of the usual tacos and burritos? They have regional specialties that I had never seen before, such as Nopales (cactus) with eggs (delicious, but a bit too spicy for my medium-heat tastebuds). I have eaten there over a dozen times and have never had their tacos, tamales or burritos because their other stuff is too good and interesting to pass up. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. It's smallish inside, but they'll pull together tables to fit a large group. There is also an outdoor seating area. read more

I've only been to Hollister twice first time I spent the night here. Woke up wanted some breakfast, checked out Yelp and saw that this place had four stars out of five so we decided to try it out. My wife and I were very pleased with our meal and it was definitely a place we would come back to. Looks like a family run business with good service and good food! read more

Always GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE. Defiantly recommend. Outside seating is very nice. I don't think a lot of people know of this great place because it's tucked into a corner. I believe it's family owned and very friendly. They close early so make sure you very there before 7pm. read more

Took wife there for lunch last week, got there at 11:45, waitress brought menus and chips/salsa. I realized this was not the lunch menu, I asked to see the lunch menu, she informed me it wasn't noon yet. We set there for a few minutes dumbfounded, now I look at my watch it's 11:52 and still no lunch menu, I left a couple dollars on the table and told the waitress we might comeback after 12:00, we didn't! I had carnitas plate. This was the first time I ever in my 25 years of life sent food back. It was inedible. The meat looked like a piece of ham cut from a deli and deep fried. Salty to the point I couldn't even finish chewing because my mouth was drowning in salt. I didn't want to send it back but had to. I wasn't charged for the food but was still charged for a taco of Asada I ordered instead , as I was eating with someone. The person I was with order enchiladas with green sauce they came out with red sauce. Even after the waiter repeated the order. I wouldn't waste the time or day to eat here. I would go to the other selections of Mexican food we have in town. New ownership doesn't make any difference they need a new cook read more

Now, I always have this thing about Tacos Autlense in East San Jose. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best taquería in the country. This place comes close. The window for ordering is outside, at the front of the building. There is a menu board to the left of that window. It seems really typical with tacos and burritos, but they have a column that shows their seafood options. I got three carne asada tacos and my buddy got a super carne asada burrito. With an horchata and a Jarritos Limón, it came to just under $19.00. It sounds a little high, but I think it was okay because of the drinks. Many places charge $2.99 just for horchata, even though they're small. I also asked for lettuce and tomatoes. It's funny, I ordered in Espanglés/Spanglish and I'm not sure it was 100% necessary but it went very smoothly. It was ready VERY quickly--unnaturally quickly. We could hear that they were cooking, maybe grilling all the meat ahead of time. The dining room is very...Formica, and tired. It's as though they found tables from the 1970s and got some newer chairs (from the 1980s?) and put them around the room. The thing is--I don't care. The taste was amazing. They added a great amount of lettuce and tomatoes, so much that it was hard to close those little tacos. There was so much left over that I got out a pair of chopsticks from my backpack to get the rest of it from the plate. My buddy said "Now, I've seen everything--Mexican food with chopsticks! I normally take my tacos with everything on them. I've come to realize the red salsa is the perfect topping to this delicious taco. It's not too spicy, has a great flavor and is always consistently delicious. You can't forget to get aside if their marinated carrots, which is the perfect crunchy texture to add to this master piece of a taco. The staff is always friendly, the inside is always clean, and the food is consistent and delicious. I highly recommend trying this place out.
