Saw them pulling menudo out a bag and heating it to serve OMG !! That was so disgusting if you sit inside and look at how they make the food trust you won't want to eat here !! Also the servers did not change there gloves while cleaning and handling money THE SAME DIRTY GLOVES WERE USED TO SERVE PEOPLES FOOD !! Food is always fresh, service is quick, atmosphere is welcoming. We love coming here after Sunday church or to go and have brunch on a Saturday. Drinks are always on hit as well. This place is a gem. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a local spot to support . We got a breakfast burrito with nopales and chorizo and it really hit the spot. My son's volleyball team played there whole day for tournament. I ordered red burritos beef and chicken separately. The to-go package is reusable bags boys (16,17 years old) are so surprised when they open the boxes, there's a huge burrito in each one. I've been there twice and received HORRIBLE service. Will not be returning again!!! The first time I went with my husband and kids and sat outside the patio. We waited 25 min just for the waitress to bring us menus. After reviewing the menus another 25 min just to place our order. The worse part was that they weren't even busy. They was only three tables including ours. Food was okay but we had to ask out waitress several times for lemons, salsa, and at one point my husband had to get up to the counter just to ask for drink refills and our tab. The young waitress needs customer service skills. The second time we went back to give it another shot and received the same service. My husband had to go to counter twice for tortillas which were included with his meal cause the young waitress forgot about them and said she would bring them but after waiting 10 min my husband approached the counter to ask for them & for straws, sales & extra serving plate. The waitress seems to have been irritated and not having a good day. Both times the service has been horrible. We're definitely not going back!!!! read more

Been here a few times. Food is always good. Service is not good. Always slow to greet or come back around to see if we need anything else. Anyways, the chabelas are tasty and large. Mariscada is really good and a lot less expensive than El Michoacano. Carne asada is great as are their fajitas. I hear their breakfast is good. I'll have to check it out soon. My spouse usually likes Doña Ester's but that particular Saturday there was an event in SJB and parking was a big NOPE. I suggested El Rinconcito. Other than a slightly cranky server, everything was great (hey, everyone is entitled to a bad day once in awhile). He ordered a chicken taco, chicken enchilada and pork tamale plate. Tacos were pretty basic but he really enjoyed the enchilada. Alas, the tamale was a tad too spicy for him ( I thought it was fine). I had a delicious chile relleno plate. Used to love this place but now the prices are getting high and the serving size is small. We always get just the machaca and eggs not the plate and they would charge us less since we weren't getting all the fixings and they would fill the box full! Now it's half full and they charge us the full price for everything. Not worth $13 by any means. read more

I was craving chilaquiles, and this place definitely delivered. The staff was very friendly, and checked up on us a few times. Food was hot and promptly came out. Their salsa is by far the best I've ever had at any mexican restaurant in town. Will most definitely be coming back. read more

We drove from Monterey to celebrate my friend's 83rd birthday. I didn't really know the name of the restaurant as I was there once about 7 years ago, but I assumed I could find it! After about 40 minutes of following Siri for the place, I finally asked a local. The restaurant I was looking for was Progresso, however, when we finally found it, it was 'Closed On Monday'! Lucky for us, there were four or five 'locals' sipping outside on their patio. When I asked where I could find a great tamali, they couldn't remember the name, but gave specific directions! It is tucked away in a strip mall center behind McDonald's. The interior like a small cantina - 40 seats and an outside patio. I was drooling for a tamali and my guest for a soft beef taco - she ordered two and took one home! Served with refried beans and rice $6.99! Many bottled beers available, as well as sodas. Not sure about the wine - didn't care! They passed my self-imposed 'napkin test' (must have a good, solid napkin like Vanity Fair, no flimsy one-ply napkins for me). While we were eating, a young man, who was sitting in the restaurant, came in holding a stunning floral arrangement of red roses, tiger lilies, carnations, statis and a big Happy Birthday balloon. He brought it to my guest and said, "Happy Birthday. You deserve this." We were stunned at this random act of kindness. His name was Angel and I was overwhelmed. Probably not more than 24 years old and obviously brought up by an amazing family. As we asked for the check, Ephraim, the owner? manager? brought a chocolate drizzled coconut flan with sprinkles of cinnamon - heavenly. It's a rarity to go to Hollister - about 50 miles from Carmel - but I would return because of this amazing hospitality. read more

Horrible service. Every waitress is rude, slow and will ignore what you ask for. They see you and won't attend you until you have to ask for the third time. They take about an hour to give you the food after you have ask what to drink. Overall there very slow, rude ugly attitude. Will never go again. They have to reason to have that attitude when helping there customers. read more

Had four tables and eight other people. They should really consider moving their microwave bank from the kitchen window. I was there for lunch. Eight orders and eight plates microwaved. I thought this place had fresh food made to order. The food itself was fairly bland. The rice was a complete reminder of ricearoni. The meat was nothing spectacular either.
