Sometimes when you need to run errands in the workday, things such like lunch need to give so you don't waste PTO time to grab a bite. Such was the other day when dropping & picking up my car from the auto shop a short walk over from Rinconcito. It's located in a strip mall - along with a few other restaurants - on NW 36th Street next to Palmetto Ford. Needless to say, after starving all day at work and rushing to pick it up before closing time, I was famished and stopped here in my repaired car. The dining room space inside is pretty large, plus they have a few outside tables. My waitress was casually pleasant: not the same level of attention you'd expect at a white glove spot but I wasn't ignored either. I ordered the somewhat healthyish Pollo a la Plancha. Served with cut up onions, a dash of sazon completa and two lemon wedges, this was huge! It took up the entire real estate of a plate, such that the sides were on a separate one. The chicken had good taste & texture, and again, the plate was large and filling. The moros (cuban rice) was with red beans, instead of the black beans I prefer & of course I loved my platanitos (fried plantains). Oh, and cafecito was had. Came here with some friends that eat here a lot. Now I know why. Food was amazing, cooked perfectly and the amount of food they give is shareable. Not a big fan of the chicharones de pollo (chicken chunks) without the bone rather have the dark meat but the made the chick so juicy and tasty. The yellow rice with shrimp was great. I hear the fried rice is very good but it's only on Thursdays. Service was good, waitress was very attentive didn't have to ask for refills and food did not take long. This was a nice spot! We were only in Miami for an evening before heading to Key West. This spot was right across from our hotel and was recommended to us. We were delighted! The atmosphere is like a Cuban diner, full of regulars who clearly love the spot. I have been coming to this place with my husband for many years now. The food, portions and service have always been amazing. I still remember when the price for "carne asada" was $21.99 because is what I ALWAYS order. The price has been going. As you can see from the receipt, the price is now $29 for carne asada. I understand the price for everything has been going up and I'm okay with paying more. However, I am not okay with paying more and getting smaller portions. I have to say I am disappointed to compare the potions of the steak now that the prices have gone up to what I used to get when it was only $21.99. read more

I will say the food was good however I was a bit disappointed that there was a lot of flies that went on our drinks and trying to get to our food we didn't want our drinks and the waitress forced us to pay for the drinks when we felt disgusted with flies in the place. They need to debug this place. Let's not forget they don't know the difference between Sprite and starry that is not the same thing. Needs a little work in this location. Like I said food was good I will consider going back for another review. Another thing the white and red sangrias were not very good I have had great tasting sangrias. I went with arroz con pollo and he opted for the shredded chicken. Let me first start by saying the portions are enormous. Each of our portions had to have weighed about a pound or two each and came in their own bag. We had enough to have just my leftovers for breakfast the next day and were stuffed after both meals. The arroz con pollo rice and veggies were my favorite part of the dish whereas the shredded chicken from the hubs dish was the best of his dish. Putting the two together would make an amazing meal. The black beans and rice from the hubs was a touch dry and needed a bit more seasoning. The delivery was fast and friendly and I would definitely come back here if we were back in Miami. read more

I had the Vaca Frita and let me tell you....it was magical. The flavor was amazing, the crispiness was perfect, and the sides of rice and beans were delicious as well. When I left I had to roll myself out of the place because I was so full. On top of the great food the staff was very friendly. We were greeted immediately and sat right away. This place is awesome. We decided to eat out light so chose this restaurant. We went there at 6:30 pm and there were not many people. We ordered Cuban sandwich and roast pork. Boy, the portion is huge and my wife and I could eat only half. The Cuban sandwich looks like ham and cheese sandwich but it tasted totally different. It was grilled and warm and the cheese flavor is very unique. The Cuban sandwich I had was cold and I thought that was Cuban. I really like Cuban roast pork and the one I had here was not only big but very tasty. This restaurant is not far from my home and I think I will come back often.
