Took our order fairly quickly. We waited for a while and no one bothered to bring us chips or offered a refill. Was nice watching the next table enjoy their chips and salsa. We asked twice, second time when we were brought our food. My food was made completely wrong. He again asked me for my order then brought it to me knowing it was wrong again. By this time my bf was finished eating so i told him not to bother. And I think we were overcharged, we were never shown a receipt or a bill. My bf just insisted on paying so we could get out of there. And FYI, told the waiter exactly what I wanted in my burrito twice. Came back wrong both times. I don't think I will be back there. We were ripped off. Please go elsewhere. read more

I love love love this food omg this is legit mexican food all that other bs Mexican "American" food out here in this area is garbage. Im sorry to those who feel other places are better but thats because you havent had the real thing. This is what we hve been searching since we've moved here and they havent let us down not one time. Since all food is cooked after its order it does take some time for food to come out but lets b honest if you wanted fast food you could have went to mcdonalds. I order the carne asade taco platter with fresh onions and my boyfriend orders the California burrito they didnt miss a beat. My platter also came with spanish rice and pinto beans ( i mix them both together )then the waitress brought out three different sauces to choose from love you guys... thank you so much for being the real deal. read more

The food. The food is worth it. I had been trying to check out this spot for some weeks now and was prepared from reviews on here that the service and restaurant itself was a bit lacking in quality, but that the food was worth it. I was aware of what I was getting into. For anyone that has been in the area for a few years and was lucky, this restaurant sounded like an answer to the food truck that existed around 2012-2013. It left in the dead of night and left myself and others missing it fondly. We arrived for lunch today around 11:30. It was unclear, but we quickly realized that this was a seat yourself restaurant. No biggie. The restaurant is sparse, but relatively clean. The back area was more than average cold, we had to keep our coats on during this wintry day. We waited at least 10 minutes for our waiter to bring menus and chips. The salsa was very watery, the thinnest possible that I've ever had anywhere, but of good flavor. It simply needs some more base. The menu had a lot of what I've come to expect from a decent Mexican restaurants and food trucks. Various soft tacos: chorizo, asada (beef), pollo (chicken). There were also some oddities like beef tongue, and beef head, which I could be interested in trying some day. I ordered the alambre (asada beef with sauteed onions, melted cheese, and peppers.), chorizo, and asada tacos. The Al Pastor and Adobada were out (both were marinated pork, with the former including pineapple), which was a slight let down as the combination of pineapple and pork was a welcomed first experience to me. Despite the restaurants small size, they still could use an extra hand as it seems they either keep themselves short staffed or were on this particularl day. The waiter was the only person seen who waited on tables, took checks at the desk at the front door, and brought food from the kitchen. We waited another 10-15 minutes to give the waiter our orders which included drinks. A small group came in a moment after us and received food and left before we received ours. They may have been regulars and expected, as the waiter took care of them quickly??? Favoritism can hurt if you don't take care of new customers. Then, the food came. The food is amazing. So much more flavor than other Mexican restaurants can offer. We all ordered various soft tacos which came in corn tortillas. Chorizo, carnitas, asada, etc. all were tasty and presented well. The tacos normally come with onions and cilantro, but cost extra for supreme "feliz" style with sour cream. Unless you have a very large appetite, the taco platter (three soft tacos with a side of rice and beans), is not needed. Instead, order a la carte as three out of the four of us did. The alambre was bursting with flavor. We all were well satisfied. The tacos were served with three jars of homemade salsa dressings: a red pepper and two green ones. The red had quite a kick, the lighter green (verde) had a lot of green chiles flavor which complemented well. In short, we may order carry out the next time as the food is well worth it. If you can take a wait for good food, then risk dining in. It's the most authentic and tasty Mexican cuisine in St. Mary's and Calvert county by far! I only hope it can become a mainstay and improve upon its service and all around dine in customer experience. I give this three out five stars based only on the food!!! read more

Didn't know I had access to authentic, delicious Mexican food everyday until I moved out of Los Angeles. Since moving to St. Mary's County, the places I've eaten for Mexican food were terrible and to be frank, garbage. This place was authentic and felt like I was back in LA. I had their sopas, two tacos, and a gordita. They give you the radishes, limes, and three choices of sauces: two hot sauces, and guacamole type sauce. Definitely coming back here as often as possible to get my authentic Mexican fix. read more

Outstanding, authentic taqueria - come for the Asada tacos, but stay for the Carnitas and the Al Pastor. They also have the cleanest men's bathroom I have seen in quite some time. Like eating at my grandma's house. Very impressed with the taco plate - I will be back for sure. read more

This place use to be a small convenience store with a resturant in the back. They've changed it a long with the name. Not what it use to be. So if your reading good reviews check the date. All older reviews are when it was in different hands. Best authentic mexican food around! New weekly customers! I would eat here everyday if I wouldnt get fat! We've eaten here and also gotten food to go. Either way its delicious and fresh! My mother-in-law loves this place and always brings us home fresh chips and salsa! Best place around for miles! All were good and the salsas were also just as good. Lengua is always fresh and thats hard to find anywhere....I can tell when its frozen it doesn't taste right. We have had lengua burritos and carne asada burritos. Both were fabulous! Chips are always hot and fresh with salsa thats just as amazing. The salsa isnt too spicy so i can even enjoy some. If you dont know what lengua is give it a shot and you will see how tasty, rich and wonderful a piece of meat it is. Again...cant rave enough about this place! read more

Best Mexican food around! They have Lengua which is hard to come by. The guacamole is always fresh and made to order. The down side is that it smells like mildew and the service isn't always the best, but if you come here for service then you are here for the wrong reason. The name has changed also. read more

We got carry out. The food was ready quick we didn't have to wait long at all. It was fresh & delicious. I got the tacos de carne asada it was the best I've had in a long time. The restaurant was clean the guy who waited on us was very nice. The only complaint that I have is a salsa that I brought was like water not much to it. I definitely will return again. read more

I can't say we had a bad experience here, but I can say that we overpaid for the food, the location isn't great, ambiance is just ok- no music- it felt kinda awkward to just talk in such a quiet space. Again, the food wasn't bad- but it wasn't good either. Also; a dinner plate with a cheese quesadilla and rice shouldn't cost $10. Being a So. This place was quite a disappointment. They service was great. Food, not so much. I had the steak burrito, dry, tough meat, very little rice and beans, just dry and no flavor. My husband had a combo of chicken burrito, chicken was dry, no flavor, the beef one was a little better. That chicken gordita was the worst I've ever had, dry chicken, no flavor, I've had much better at Taco Bell. We were very disappointed, especially after seeing all the 5 star reviews. read more

I'm originally from San Diego, so I think I'm pretty qualified to know what is good Mexican food. I have been to hundreds if not thousands of Mexican restaurants and taco trucks. The food at this place is average to below average. I ordered the carne asada street tacos and they were made incorrectly. The meat was sautéed in oil instead of grilled. The onions and cilantro were also sautéed with the meat with oil. The taste and texture was all wrong. On top of that the price per taco was extremely high. I won't be back and will be looking elsewhere for my street tacos. read more

Not sure exactly why so many reviewers thought this was the best Mexican food in town. It was good but not fantastic. The service was fast and the food was hot, fresh and authentic, all pluses, but it was just above average overall. Our server was pleasant and although she repeated our order she still brought it out incorrectly and had to be called back to bring missing extras. The forgotten side of guacamole when it finally arrived was scanty at best (maybe two tablespoons worth), especially since they charged us $2.25 for it. We'll probably be back since it's in a good location for us, but we'll keep looking for the best Mexican food. read more

I tried their shrimp and fish burrito with just a small amount of the yellow rice (no gautmoule or sour cream). I will say, it was deliciously, delightfully, yummy. The side green and red chile sauces, I just poured inside the burrito at each bit I took. Spicey, but made the burrito even better. I recommend this restaurant for lunch and dinner. The only place to get authentic Mexican food in St Mary's County. It's not easy to find, and not much to look at, but you're not coming here for ambiance. It's all about the food!
