Poor Customer Service This is my second time coming to this restaurant and I was not greeted when walked in. I stood at the counter to order to go and was not acknowledged at all. The first time, the waitress was on the phone taking an order which took a while. I thought she could at least say "I'll be right with you" but nothing to that fact. When she finally got off, she rushed to take my order. Didn't apologize for the wait or anything. The second time, I walked in, a waitress came over to the counter and immediately went to the computer. Didn't acknowledge that I was standing there to say Hello or Welcome. When she finally did say something, she just asked if I was ready to order. I immediately told her, "I didn't know if you knew I was standing here or not". Looking at the to-go menu, I asked what was in a particular entree, she just handed me a larger menu with the description. She left and then another waitress came over to take my order. Yet another Salvadoran restaurant claiming it's Mexican. The puréed beans are the tell-tale sign of the imposter. No real or decent Mexican restaurant would ever serve puréed beans. I had the fried mojarra. The flavor was a bit essentialist--survival food. It wasn't anything I'd celebrate. The rice was some orange and salty mix you know came from some Goya box. I really wanted to love this place given that it is less than five minutes from my house. The tamales were utterly tasteless as were the crusty beans and the overcooked rice. The server insisted that we come back for bike night on Thursday........ and try their pupusas. read more

We believed the reviews on Yelp and ordered carry out from here one night. It took almost 2 hours to get our food. I've been in the industry, so I understand being short staffed, but the staff that was there refused to acknowledge or even come speak with us. We stood around waiting and waiting. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! The papupas are amazing! The margarita the best in town. Their tres Leche cake is authentic! I asked them to serve it without the choc sauce and cherry as I like it the real way! Love their grilled chicken, pico, and salad! We always have leftovers too! We finally decided to try this place because it is close to our house. I must admit that the sketchy location is what prevented me from trying it sooner. Don't let the fact that there are never any cars in the parking lot throw you off because the food is GREAT! 5 of us went and it was the first time for all of us. We ordered different items from the menu to try and test everything and everyone was pleased with their food. The service was good and the chips and salsa were good. So if you are one of those people who eat 3 baskets of chips before the meal then you will love this place. We will be going back for sure. read more

I saw their ad in the local Free Lance Star paper, with a coupon for dessert. The picture of the dessert did not match the actual dessert that you get. Anyway, my husband and I waited for about 3 to 5 minutes, and no one came out to seat us. My husband looked around and even peeked partly into the kitchen, but no one was around. (Maybe a chime on the door would help notify them?) We saw one table with people that had empty drinks and that is usually a red flag about service. I was going to leave but my husband picked up some menu's and, being silly, said "come this way" as if he was seating us. So, later, we finally got to place our order. The TV, over the bar, was super loud and in Spanish, for some sort of sporting event. It was competing with the great Latin music that they had on and clashed with the music. I asked her if she can turn the TV down, but she didn't get what I was saying and finally said she would ask the manager. They turned it down for a while but then someone turned it back up. So, we had to hear lots of noise while eating. I noticed, compared to other places around, that the prices were quite high for most meals. They also had NO side dishes listed, like if you want a side of rice, or beans, or sour cream, etc. The food was good. The place is very nice and roomy, but they need to fill it up. We stopped here on our way home to DC. Fresh is what I will say... great salsa (ask for the salsa Verde they keep in the back). This is not the Mexican food that I grew disappointed with in a small rural town. It is a mixture of Salvadorean flavors with some familiar dish names of Mexico. Don't let the bright colored building, lack of cars (at least when I arrived) and sketch location turn you off lol My mom and I had the craving for Mexican food as we drove through downtown Fredericksburg. I did a quick Google search and this place came up as the closest option. They had good reviews so we decided to check it out. It was a random weekday, maybe 2ish or so. The parking lot was empty - so was the restaurant - but we pressed on. (The chips and salsa craving was very real!) We were greeted, immediately as we walked through the door, by a friendly, smiling hostess/waitress. She seated us and took our drink and appetizer order. The salsa and cheese dip were delicious! We ordered and our food was out very quickly, perfectly prepared and very large portions. It was phenomenal - far beyond our expectations! As a connoisseur of our local Mexican joints ;) I can tell you this place is right at the top! This location is a challenge I think but we were real impressed for our dinner last night. The stone walls and the slate tiled floor is real lovely and the chairs were wide at the tables and the booths were comfy. The place was real clean and welcoming. The staff was genuinely kind and very helpful. The food- the salsa was so fresh and I really liked the crispy, thin white corn chips- warm and great with the salsa. I ordered vegetarian tacos without cheese and they were delicious. My hubby liked his Carne Asada. I'm lucky we have this so close to our neighborhood. Will be going back a lot. read more

I experienced the same problem the other person did. Dont have a sign on the road for 99 cent tacos if u have to order a drink and salsa for $2.50 with tacos. This restaurant has a fantastic lunch menu. Their service is professional and courteous. The menu price is definitely a bargain and the taste is high quality. I highly recommend them. They serve both traditional Mexican dishes as well as El Salvadoran dishes. They have a nice bar; however, I was unable to try any of their drinks. They do have "bike night" advertised that takes place on Thursday evenings. They do have seating available for larger groups. read more

My wife and I stopped in yesterday for lunch. By the front door they had a board with the "express lunch specials" and we were greeted promptly by a nice young woman that showed us to a booth. Chips and salsa quickly followed. Chips were nice and warm and the salsa was Delicious. Drink orders were taken, wife had the lunch margarita and I had iced-tea. This is where my only complaint comes and if i could dock half a star I would. the iced tea came out with ice but was so fresh it was still almost hot. It took a while to cool it down, but never got to "iced". We both ordered from the express lunch menu and the food did not take long to come out and was nice and hot. We both had two versions of shredded beef enchiladas, her's with a chipotle cream sauce and mine salsa verde, both with re-fried beans and rice. I really enjoyed mine. Salsa verde was fresh and refreshing with the perfect amount of heat, so they get the half star back. My wife's was good as well (a little spicier than she was expecting) but we both cleared our plates. A very affordable and delicious lunch. We will definitely be back. read more

Went in for lunch today. Seated immediately (not a problem since there was only one other person there eating). After we were seated two other groups came in during the next ten minutes. 15 minutes after being seated we finally saw our waitress and she took our drink (finally) and our lunch order. Ten more minutes two more tables seated and we got our drinks. 40 minutes after arriving, the table behind us, who arrived 10 mins after us, got their food. 5 mins later we asked her to check on our food; came back from the kitchen with a tray of food.... for another table that ordered after us. We got up and left. Cannot discourage this place enough; damn shame Roma's isn't in this location anymore. read more

This location just opened, and has a limited "grand opening" menu. The restarting has a new bar and fresh appearance from taking over from the pizzeria, but that don't have their liquor license yet. That being said, I had the carnitas dinner, and had "tamarindo" to drink. That was a first for me. It was fresh and pulpy. The dinner was good, the waiter (Luis) was polite, and the place was clean and warm. It is authentic Latin cuisine. My only issue stems from the fact it's not busy yet. Meaning, Luis would have been by to offer hot sauce or check on us sooner, but since it was only my table ( and some of thier friends) we didn't get the "drive bys". I'll definitely go back. I like the place and the faces. I look forward to the updated menu. Btw - 4 stars is Great. A five star review from me would take a biblical event. read more

I will update from the review I left in April. We decided to try El Rodeo again to see if things were better. Happy to say, they were! We arrived and were promptly seated, brought drinks as well as chips and salsa. The chips were ok,but the salsa was fresh and delicious! We arrived just 5 min before Happy Hour ended ($2 drafts!), but since we arrived before it ended,we were given happy hour pricing throughout our stay. The service was very attentive (without being intrusive). The food arrived quickly and quite hot. It was quite a good meal! I would return without hesitation.
