The portions are really generous and they provide multiple salsa options and I liked all of them, the meat portions were generous and $3 per taco but they were stuffed. This is a gem in the neighborhood. The food is authentic. There are street tacos and then there are street tacos. The taste of the food here blew me away and if you are looking for spicy sauces this is the place. This is now my new go to for tacos and the other items they have on menu. Great Tacos, Great Service! Popped into El Rumbero while in the area after seeing some great looking taco pics on Yelp. The restaurant looks brand new, very clean, very bright. The lady who served us was super friendly and very informative with what each type of meat was on the menu. We ordered 12 street tacos so we could try a few different meats. Pastor, steak (bistec), smoked pork chop (chuleta), and steak/chorizo (campenchano). Honestly all of them were great but their pastor was amazing. Super tender and not a ton of fat. El Rumbero is a true taco gem! It is located in a spot where previous restaurants haven't had much luck. I'm really rooting for this one to thrive! They serve the best al pastor tacos I've had in all of DFW--Mexico City style. The tacos come with pineapple tidbits added to the meat afterward, but they're still fantastic street tacos. My date ordered the tacos de chuleta (pork chop), which were equally delicious. I also tried a sope de bistek, and it was packed with flavor. The imported Mexican Squirt added a special touch, too. The servers may not speak English, but they are friendly, attentive, and happy to help. Both the red and green salsas were really too. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day, only to find out they're closed on Sundays. This place is definitely our new taco spot--hands down the best in town! read more

I've been wanting to try El Rumbero based on the glowing reviews but, after visiting, I don't get the hype. Came in on a Tuesday evening to try it and were the only customers. Our waitress was pleasant and made menu recommendations, which was nice (and atypical) for this type of establishment. She made us feel welcomed and gave a warm presence here, which I think would have been lacking if not for her hospitality. Immediately, I noticed it smelled very clean. The tables were clean and the kitchen looked tidy. There is not a lot of ambience here other than a potted plant and some lucha libre style figurines as it is brightly lit, has a counter to place orders, and overall it feels like a gas station taqueria. We had 5 basic street tacos, 1 huarache (for which I was charged $3.50 more than the menu price), and 1 bottle of soda which was an astronomical $4.50. With tip, our bill was nearly $40. And the food was just so-so, despite being based on her recommendation and apparently being a "custom"-order since I was charged extra. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't that good. The tacos were the best thing and the huarache was kind of bland although a at least a decent size. We were presented with three hot sauces, which are all similar in flavor profile and all moderately spicy. The menu seems very limited and everything is a la carte. There are no sides, "plates", or even chips. Was it "authentic"? Eh, sure. But there are much tastier authentic places in this town and they're serving up more complete menus at better prices and without surprises. read more

We saw the othe reviews and thought it was worth a try due to a decent amount of positive reviews. Sadly, it deeply disappointed. We ordered to go, took nearly 30 minutes even with it not being busy. Cactus taco - swimming in oil, Steak and Pastor - barely any meat, Combi torta - The cheese was articial and of such poor quality, the favor overwhelmed the entire torta. It was probabaly the worst item fo all. Also forgot the tomatos, and again, used way to much oil on the bread. The green salsa was good, the red was average at best. The Colony and Little Elm have good tacos posts, personaly I prefer most over this. The establishment clean though. read more

this place needs more recognition. the service amazing, everyone is very nice and understanding. menu is very large with many tasty options. ive tried many types of their meats and all of them are juicy and full of flavors. then food is also very fresh and definitely authentic. i recomend their burritos beacuse you get a massive 12 inch tortia loaded with toppings for 8.99. overall one of my favorite mexican spots in the colony. i hope their buisness does well so i can eat there more. 10/10 read more
