Kitschy fun environment although the heaters were a bit too powerful! I mean what fun to have someone's Converse sneakers (bobo's!) hanging over the table like chandelier! Our server was very good and my foodie group was provided with a nice cozy location in the restaurant. However, when it came to the menu, it was confusing and difficult to navigate. Our group had to ask for many explanations and because of the many cuisines, it took a while for our group to order. The food was good but not memorable. One other thing to note that some items were a very good value and others completely overpriced. The corn, excellent and a fair price. The Salad, ridiculously overpriced! I was disappointed. The menu had quite a few items that were coming soon, which is ok, but it seemed to be all the chicken items ( i.e. most of what I'd eat). That said we ordered about 6 different items and found them all to be underwhelming The bartender highly recommended the tuna spring rolls and I could barely make myself finish one. There was nothing to the roll and the tuna had a flavor I didn't care for. I also had the ceviche (ok) and the poutine (nothing special). My boyfriend had the hot dog (was really just a hot dog, he expected more), a beef item, and the arepa. His food was ok but not great. The meal plus two drinks was $80ish and unlike harlan across the way, they don't validate parking. While the outdoor atmosphere is nice, I'm pretty sure we won't return. read more

My second time here, they definitely redeemed themselves from my first experience! Tacos Al pastor....Amazeballs. Perris Calientes aka hot dog, perfect amount of spicy and crunch from the bacon. Won't be getting the Goi Du Du (calamari salad) again, didn't do much texturally for me and the flavor was a bit one note.. However the bartender was great and the ambiance is chill. The style and atmosphere of the place are fantastic. Bartenders and owners are nice and there's a huge bar that extends from the open kitchen to the outdoor patio. Most SoNo spots are either fancy or not at all and this one (similar to Burger Bar) is just cool. There's entrances adjacent to the circle by Harlan and on Water Street. The mixed drink we had was well made ($10 each) and there were plenty of options ($9-12). You can find better beer prices elsewhere; it's all bottles and cans for around $7-8. Where this place struggles with me is the food and the pricing. The tostones ($4 for about a dozen) came out in under a minute and weren't made to order. I ordered a sort of Indian potato salad, which was small potatoes, peppers, onions and a bunch of puffed rice and crispy noodles with a tamarind sauce. It was a decent cup of food for $9. My girlfriend got an arepa, which was on the smaller side, and was pretty good. $11. We paid $55 with tip for two drinks and these three items and were still hungry. It's tapas at close to meal prices. I've paid less for more for better sushi, ramen, Hispanic, or Indian in or around SoNo. They advertise their food as global street food and the menu has a lot of diversity. Maybe this is adding to the price. The food looks like it's from a food truck and costs twice as much as it should. I'm hoping they make a few changes, because SoNo needs a cool spot like this, but only the Harlan or Washington Prime crowd will be able to afford it. read more

My boyfriend and I visited this place about 2 months ago as we were in town for a concert. The location is nice, parking lot right across the street. The customer service was awesome however the food was not what I expected. I ordered the pupusas and they tasted like the freezer ones. I also tried the tostones and they had a good taste but were served cold. We also tried the hummus was alright. What we did like was their green sauce which we had to put on everything to eat. Salad was wilted as your week and something old birthday flowers. I don't think all messed up items were taken of my check. We left to after about 2 minutes emergency pit stop in alley when we emptied our stomachs from just eaten in El segundo. We went back to report just experienced to manager who promised steps. They forgot about my husbands order and we kept asking and the waitress and she would not give an update, till finally as the whole family was done eating, my husband gets his food. The music selection in this place is amazing. All the way from Pop to hip hop which is quite surprising. The drinks are perfect ratio and the bartender actually pays attention to what you're drinking. Very knowledgeable of their bar and knows what to recommend. Worth making a special trip for! Usually places with food as diverse as El Segundo have a lot of weaknesses. El Segundo masters them all. We ordered 6 dishes from 5 cultures, and every single dish was absolutely excellent. I wish I had a bigger stomach to be able to order more. Poor service and incorrect drink order made us feel under-appreciated as customers. Then our friend fell and hurt herself on the messy slippery floor with no 'wet floor' sign out. No one helped her up! Manager was dismissive of the incident and didn't come and ask if she was ok until we asked multiple times and he finally came out with a bag of ice and didn't charge us for our meal. They took everything to the wrong table & they tried to make us keep the food after other people touched it!!!! THE COPS CAME!! This is the first time I've ever felt the need to write a review...and it's unfortunately negative. I went to El Segundo on a Tuesday night for some drinks after dinner. I sat outside and I was having a good time.The bartender outside was friendly and accommodating...then the Police showed up... They told El Segundo's outdoor bartender that they were getting noise complaints for their music. The police asked him (the bartender) to shut off the music and people to move inside. There was about 10 people outside and all complied and the bartender closed down the bar. When we went inside, we were met by a man behind the bar who aggressively told us to, "finish our drinks and get out". He continued with a few more rude and pressing comments and mentioned he was the owner, but refused to give his name. He a white male in his 30's and very rude. I recommend no one ever visit this place. Spare yourself the disappointment and spend your money somewhere else. read more

Great new spot in downtown Norwalk! The food was amazing - I was a little skeptical at first with so many different cuisines on the menu but it was delicious. Hummus was my favorite. It was only day 2 of being open to the public. You could tell the staff was still training but they were very polite and any hiccups that did occur were swiftly taken care of. Henry is great... he's a cook helper behind the counter where the tacos are made, he took care of me and the people I was with, better than the person who was taking care of us, great person and hard working man. I'm a regular customer at El segundo most because of their tacos... I'm there almost every Tuesday but yesterday was different, it was just better because of the attention we got from Henry.
