This place brings me life. My favorite taco place in Pilsen! The place itself is very clean, it's a family owned place and the owners are so sweet. I always get the veggie or shrimp tacos here and a side of guac. I've never been disappointed! They also give you these root vegetable and plantain chips with their guac, nommmzz. The shrimp is always fresh and well marinated, the veggie tacos usually have mushrooms and cauliflower, which sounds strange for a mexican taco but it's delicious!!! Although I love el Milagro, it's nice to have tacos that aren't covered in sour cream and beans sometimes. If you're looking for quality tacos in Pilsen that are more about fresh ingredients than queso and sour cream definitely check this place out :) read more

I decided to try another taco place, beyond my normal lunch travel radius, and I found this little gem in the Pilsen area. O.M.G.! This is not your regular taco joint, it is an elevated experience I was not expecting. I ordered 3 different tacos (Lomo, Cecina and Al Pastor) and each one is created with its own unique special ingredients and I would hazard to declare them as of the "gourmet" variety. I had the mushroom and arabe tacos. Both were so flavorful, I felt as if I were eating a good steak dinner. This came up on google when we were visiting an old friend in the neighborhood. Small place, cute tree log tables. The tacos are 2 for $7 of specialty corn tortilla tacos. Everybody ordered diff types, shredded pork, ribeye and shrimp. The ribeye cut of meat had way too much fat on the side, pissed off my kid chewing. They were all good but when you are trying specialty tacos, mix and match would have been awesome, but waitress said had to be two of the same. I found that to be BS and this is why there were remaining tacos. This was more food truck food to me that we couldn't customize. The way the waitress described the coffee sounded magical, cream, cinnamon, orange, zest. A hidden gem. This place has the best gourmet tacos I've tried and I am a Pilsen dweller. They try different flavors in the tortillas and the snacks at the beginning​ are more than just nachos, the dishes look great and they definitely use more innovative ingredients than other taquerias. Honestly the best tacos I've had in Chicago so far. I'm still thinking about them. The pollo en mole poblano and Al Pastor tacos...incredible. I will definitely be back because I need to try them all. Only giving four stars because the salmon taco was only ok (a bit over cooked) and service was a bit slow even though it wasn't all that busy. The interior also has a lunch spot feel...so not the "sexiest" spot if you're trying to impress someone who's in to that. I called the restaurant an hour and a half later and they said they never received my order. I called menustar and the number isn't working. This is the second time I've had trouble ordering food from this place. The first time they gave us the wrong item. I wanted to give it another chance because the food is good and there are little delivery places in the area but I am highly disappointed in the service. Came here for lunch on a random Thursday. Got a pollo and carnitas taco which were very flavorful and fresh. Needed some spice but very solid tacos overall. Ordered the guacomole and it was literally some chopped up avocado, so I would steer away if you want some actual guac (1 star off). Overall good tacos! read more

The first time I tried ordering from this place was a week ago and the man hung up on me because he couldn't understand english, due to him only speaking spanish. I decided to give them another try and never again! Then when I finally received my order they forgot my drink. I tried to get some kind of reimbursement but they wouldn't even answer a call from a yelp representative. If they want to survive they need to get their act together. Empanadas were delicious. Originally looking for regular old tacos (meat, onion, cilantro and some salsas), but ended up here because it was close enough for pick up. Was pleasantly surprised. As I waited for my take out they even gave me some chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious. Wonderful spot! Must try! Food is filling even though it looks like small portions. Incredibly delicious! Love the ambiance, service is very courteous, quick, and attentive. Best empanadas I've ever had. They were light, airy, and crispy. Usually empanadas are heavy or dripping in oil from being fried. But here its a balance of everything, mouthful of flour, filling and dressing. Dressing is lemony, zesty, and savory. Presentation is beautiful. Made me appreciate the eating experience even more. I ordered the fish and cecina (beef) tacos to go. What impressed me the most were the home made tortillas they both came on. They were thick (in a good way), soft, and warm. I would get the fish taco again, but probably not the cecina, even though the cecina taco came with two slices of avocado and pieces of a nice tasting green leafy vegetable. Overall, I'm very impressed with the ingredients this taqueria uses. For the relative high price point (2 for $7), it is almost expected but personally, I think it's worth it. The tacos came out pretty quickly (less than 10 minutes) but the place was also completely empty on a Thursday evening. I will try the other tacos next time! read more

Just tried El Taco Azteca for the first time and I don't know what took me so long! You can tell they put a lot of thought into their menu and the presentation is amazing. I really enjoyed my tacos, I tried the cecina and the cochinita pibil and the empanadas de camaron. Very sweet people, I look forward to trying more items off their menu.
