A little disappointed with my visit here. Was in search for tacos that would be as tasty as don pedro which is my favorite in Georgia so far but felt the carne asada (steak) tacos were a little bland for my taste. Also, felt the prices were a bit high although you do get more meat so the tacos are a bit larger than I've had at other places. The horchata I got here also didn't taste as good as I've had at other mexican restaurants. Overall I was not impressed with the prices or the flavor. Today I stumbled upon Tacos Jalisco and thought I would give it a try. I ordered a Carnitas taco, a Lengua taco and oh my goodness I was transported back home. The carnitas were crispy, juicy and tender, the tacos were large, not like your usual mini's off the taco trucks. The lengua was luscious, juicy and seasoned to perfection. I couldn't resist ordering the chili relleno burrito even though I knew it would be packed to go. I did take a bite and it was good, the chilis were hotter than expected, but still good. DELISH! This little gem has officially become our favorite non-traditional breakfast option. It is worth the drive to Buford and it keeps us full for hours. The location is ideal because it is close to shopping, just off of Buford Highway so you can conveniently fill up before hitting the shopping strip. When we arrive, we are always seated immediately and never have to wait for our waitress. I love being able to get a breakfast burrito regardless of the time of day. It is always fresh and perfectly prepared. I am wanting to try other items but the breakfast burrito is so addictive that I just keep coming back to it. I did taste my husband's chicken quesadilla and it was delicious with char-grilled chicken and a nice deep grill on the shell. The drinking water is clean and the service is always excellent. This is a little hole in the wall place located in a little gas station shopping center. Its not the nicest looking or most inviting place but trust me it's worth it. The girl working the front was nice and our food came out very quickly. I ordered the barbacoa burrito with rice and beans (in the burrito) and a couple chicken tacos. The burrito was quite large and quite tasty. The tacos were pretty standard but still very good. As soon as you take the first bite, you can tell this place knows what they're doing. We ordered a variety of tacos and the pulled pork torta. All of the meat was very good, but the pulled pork was amazing. It was juicy, tender, flavorful without being just salty. The vegetables in the sandwich were also noticably fresh, especially the avocado, which is hard to get right. Not only is the food good, the bathrooms are very clean and the tables are shiny. I've been coming here since discovering them in about 2010-ish going way back to when they were still around the corner on Buford highway. Their food is so good that they grew so quickly that they had to move next to the Chevron on South Lee St. which is a bigger place. Never have had a bad meal in the, literally, 100's I've purchased through the years but today.... Whooooweee, the refritos were watery (as in so recently and hurriedly cooked that they didn't have time to set up properly) and oh so salty!!!! My goodness. I was shocked. Also.... this has always been an issue, but I've never really complained but while I'm talking about the way too salty beans, I'm gonna put this out here. I always get the quart-sized order of beans. It's actually 3 orders in one big styrofoam container. Every time I ask them to make sure and give me the three helpings of cheese on top as I am ordering 3 servings. When the owner is there, he makes sure to take care of me. He's the only one that does tho. The cook on duty today at about 3:00 p.m. especially always shorts me. Today I would be exaggerating if I said there was even 1 teaspoon of cheese on top. very disappointed. Not going to keep me away, but I wanted you guys to know this. Another hidden gem, hole in the wall, authentic Mexican restaurant tucked in a small place, adjacent to a gas station in Buford, very close to the Georgia mall. I visited this place when my in laws from India were with us and we were returning back from the mall, and this was the suggested closest Mexican place as per yelp. I also wanted my father in law, who is a food admirer and a very good cook himself, to taste some real Mexican food, not the tex-mex thing. And I was glad that this place turned out one that I was expecting. It has been 2 years since then, but my father in law still remembers this place for its spicy , tangy and tasty food. He does not remember the name but mentions it as one that was near the gas station and where we had great food. This was the first time my Father in law tasted a real Mexican food and he absolutely loved it. Normally for someone who visits a new country such as India where you do not get such authentic foreign food, it takes time to acquire to the new taste. There are no real Mexican restaurants in India such as this. Lately some Taco Bells have come up in some urban cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and most Indians think that, that is the real Mexican food.Tasting a new food in a new country and loving it, says it all, that this place offers nice food for a real food admirer from anywhere in the world. Their tortillas were soft and tasty, the chicken dish was spicy and delicious.The salsas were great. I wish this place was a little closer to where we live, since we don't often go to that part of the down. The staff is all young, very nice and humble and they suggested us where to buy good Mexican foods such as tortillas and tacos and which brands to buy and we wasted no time to pick them before we reached home.
