Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. What sold me was the hand made corn tortillas they are constantly making! As soon as I arrived I saw the cook making each tortilla one by one with a flow that was unbelievable! I give her props and hope thy are paying her well. Ordered the menudo and the chicken mole. The food is so good. Had 4 tacos Asada, chicharrón, lengua & birria. Hand made tortillas on the spot the lady is behind the counter doing them. They are big soft & tasty. The meat is super flavorful it's like eating at home. Looking for a reasonably priced taco shop this is the place. El Taco Loco #5 is part of a small chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants. They have an extensive menu with all the normally expected Mexican food items. Tacos are, of course, one of their most popular items. Great quality with lots of meat and toppings. I've found that I usually don't feel like I need to add hot sauce to make them more palatable. The tacos use just one tortilla, but that tortilla is thick and light, so don't think you're missing something if they don't use two corn tortillas. There are almost a dozen meat/protein options, which should cover just about anyone's wants. I've frequently ordered one of the Torta sandwiches. Excellent. But sometimes, I've added some hot sauce to spice them up. If you don't speak Spanish, you should be able to order your food successfully. I mention this because sometimes I've experienced a lack of English knowledge on the part of the workers; whether this was real or they were 'playing' with me, I don't know, but it has made some trips here interesting. The restaurant is getting on the older side. For many years, this was an Astro Burger and didn't get much of a facelift when El Taco Loco took over the building. The signs outside are faded and could do with an update. The handwritten menu inside is in Spanish and English, so everyone should be able to make an order. Please note that while the mailing address for this restaurant is Torrance, it is physically located outside the City of Torrance, in the L.A. Corridor. I was so excited to find a taco loco here in Los Angeles county. I drive to Bakersfield when a I get a real deep craving for their tacos. Unfortunately this taco loco really disappointed me. The nachos are lower quality, stale and not worth the money. The service from the woman who rang me up was definitely far from welcoming. 2/5 stars if that. My co-worker took us here for lunch. I must say they have some of the best tacos i've had in a long time. The crispy pork belly tacos were to die for. Their burrito is also very good. The ordering process is traightforward and there can be a line. The place is definitely your typical hole in a wall taco joint. Parking can be tough during lunch. Food is always good. Only once have I ever thought of complaining when I was given very little meat compared to other times. I highly recommend the costillas verdes (aka pork ribs in green salsa). The best ever Mexican food I've EVER had. Very extensive menu with the usual tacos, burritos, etc., but a load of stuff I've never seen or heard of before. I had a torta cabesa with added jalapeños which was HUGE & out of this world. Service is slow because around lunch time it is EXTREMELY busy. It is a smallish eat-in and takeout but mostly the latter. No atmosphere at all but that's not why you go here. If you speak Spanish it is even better but the VERY few English speakers got what they wanted as well. They wipe down tables and benches and a bag was left at table.i went back in noticed it wasn't there anymore turned and ask if anyone turned in a bag. The answer was no but the soft whispers between workers between each other was very suspicious about not knowing anything about it. I'm shocked at all the 5 star reviews. I rarely leave reviews, especially for restaurants, but I felt the need to write how awful the food was. I ordered $80 worth of food for 4 adults. The food was absolutely terrible--lengua had zero taste, birria had NO SAUCE and was super dry, the asada and pastor both had little or no seasoning. The tortilla they used in EXTREMELY THICK. So every bite was just tasteless and dry meat with a chunk of thick tortilla. My chili verde enchiladas were just a few pieces of chicken wrapped in a layers of tortilla. I couldn't even a third of it cause all I was eating was tortilla. All 4 of us were extremely disappointed in both taste and quality--and trust me when I say we are NOT picky eaters. Spicy, makes you sweat a little. I've had their Caldo de pollo (chicken soup) and it was pretty good, comes with a lot of chicken and rice on the side. They have a fairly comprehensive menu, from breakfast staples like chilaquiles to birria -- both goat and beef -- to menudo and posole on the weekends. Their tacos are good. I like their tortillas, on the thicker and chewier side, preventing them from falling apart even with the greasier fillings like the pastor or chorizo. The tacos are served barebones, with pinches of onion and cilantro, lime, and a cup of salsa. No sides of pickles, peppers, or radishes here. The chilaquiles verdes portions are generous all around, with plenty of green sauce, cups of sour cream and cotija cheese, and even a side of four piping hot tortillas. The sauce makes the chips quite soft while I like crispier chilaquiles, though that's a matter of personal preference. read more

The best tacos in Torrance, by far!! My favorite are the asada and carnitas tacos. Not only is the meat perfectly marinated/seasoned but their hand made tortillas and delicious salsas are amazing!
