When the craving hits, it's always tacos! I stopped by Tacos El Goloso on PCH and ordered a mix of street tacos (carnitas and al pastor) along with the tacos dorados de birria. I've been here before, and the birria tacos were exactly what I needed for a late-night craving. Crispy on the outside with a good amount of filling and strong flavor - they really hit the spot. I ended up having four of them. The consomé on the side was really good too - rich and flavorful, almost something I could've just had on its own. The street tacos were solid. The carnitas had that tender, slightly crisp texture, and the al pastor added a bit more seasoning and contrast. Nothing overcomplicated, just straightforward and satisfying. Service was friendly, and the setup is quick and casual. In the South Bay where places tend to close early, it was nice that they were open until around 10pm. Food: great. We normally get the consomme, quesadilla, taquitos, or veggie burrito, sometimes the potato tacos with cucumber agua fresca. Today we got consomme, chips, and cucumber agua fresca. But the drink tasted a little on the stale side as if it's been there for days and not replenished daily. Not sure what happened. Usually it's on point but somebody dropped the ball. So taste the agua fresca before you walk away to make sure it's freshly made (fyi). Otherwise, food is great and consistent. I'm Mexican with family from Michoacán, so I don't say this lightly -- this place is legit. You walk in and the smell alone tells you everything. I got the birria plate (3 tacos with cheese, consomé, chips, salsas, etc.) and it was a full 10/10. Everything was balanced, flavorful, and authentic. Horchata was on point too. My girl got asada tacos -- super clean and really good. Only thing is there's no toppings bar, but they give you everything you need and the portions are dialed in. Wow. This place was recommended by my brother who's been here a couple times. He was nervous about referring me because wasn't sure it would meet my "Mexican food standards " - clearly being sarcastic! I will say, I may had my doubts but the food was incredible! Tacos El Goloso is known for their Birria and I truly see the reason why! They are located in Torrance at a busy intersection and they have easy access parking. It's an open floor dining. They have bathrooms for customers. Not only was the food amazingly delicious, but the staff are very friendly and polite. The staff was really friendly as we left, even inviting us back which I thought was very warm and personable. It was as if I was leaving a family members home. We ordered the Tacos Dorados de Birria, side of beans and rice and their agua de pepino (cucumber refresher). Tacos El Goloso isn't your garden variety Mexican restaurant. The star of the show are the birria tacos, and they are outstanding... just meat, cheese and onions (I think) with a delicious consommé to dip the tacos into. These are not light and fresh and healthy tacos... but DAMN are they good. Recently, I've started getting a "bowl" with birria because the tacos don't always agree with my stomach (not their fault...) It's basically a salad with lettuce, cheese, meat and guac. Customers Beware While I love their food, you need to be very careful when making your payments; particularly w/ the older women at the cash register. I have now become aware on four (4) separate occasions when I made my payments that they have a habit of short-changing me & not providing my correct change when paying in cash - 4 times now and I'm now wondering if it's because I'm Caucasian or if this is a systemic problem with all customers. This is one of two of my go to Taco spots in the South Bay. They have several locations in the South Bay, including Torrance, Hermosa Beach, San Pedro, Harbor City and Carson. I have been to several of them and they are consistently fantastic! The locations are immaculate and the service has always been super good. They are known for their beef Birria tacos, which are pan fried and loaded with meat, cheese and cilantro. One of the other things that they are known for is an a jus style dipping consommé that is out of this world! It truly compliments the flavor of the tacos. It comes with the tacos. it's so delicious that you may even want a drink it by itself as it's a rich beefy broth style consommé. They also have a Birria soup that is pretty spectacular; flautas; and the Vampiros, which is their version of a tostada. It is excellent! Another great offering is their keto taco, for those looking for a taco without the carb overload. They offer a wider variety of items other than what I've listed. My favorite place to get birria tacos. I usually get the 5 birria tacos combo. The consommé is always seasoned well and the tacos are crispy and full of flavor. The potato tacos are also good, but i would always get them with something else because it's not as filling imo. They taste like a mix between a crispy taco and mashed potatoes and I'm here for it. Every order I placed was disappointing. The nachos came with a serving of one asada taco, and they use shredded cheese instead of melted cheese. The tacos de papa dorado were salty and a bit stale. Birria consome was not good. The burrito was small and had only a small amount of meat. For $45 dollars and some change it was a lot of money and not worth it. I've ordered from this place a few times via GH, DD, and UBER Eats; however, since I have cancelled the first two apps due to such high costs (currently have Uber Eats gratis via Instacart+ & still expensive), I decided to order online directly from the restaurant and pick up myself to save some $$$. I was craving a bean and cheese burrito and a lil sumthin' sumthin' more so I ordered the tacos dorados de papa (potatoes). I dug into the tacos first and they were absolutely delicious! Very crunchy without an inch of grease, and they came with alot of lettuce and some tomato, green salsa (wasn't crazy about it) and what I assumed to be birria sauce (wasn't crazy about it, either). What these tacos definitely needed was some spicy red salsa instead! As for the bean and cheese burrito, it was definitely a good size but lacked flavor. I ordered it with onions and the beans still lacked flavor and the cheese was cojita I believe (crumbled white cheese) & I personally did not like it on a bean and cheese burrito. I ate half and saved the other half for later in the afternoon so I warmed it up in the toaster oven and it did improve the taste but still not my thing. Otherwise, parking was pretty plentiful and the restaurant was very clean with nice employees. Food is very authentic but I would not order that type of burrito again, but the tacos were bomb! Super amazed with service and the extras that came with my food! I was craving tacos one night so I yelped the nearest taco place. Then I saw Tacos El Goloso which I didn't know existed until I found it on Yelp. I decided to try this place out! It was empty when I got there, but saw several to-go orders on the shelf. The interior is huge and the servers are very nice. I ordered 4 tacos (birria, asada, carnitas, and pastor). Not gonna lie, I couldn't tell the difference in meat when I was eating them. I got it to-go so I waited around for under 10 minutes. As I was waiting, I looked around the restaurant. They have tvs that's playing something. I noticed a sign that says 'No Refill' and saw that their drinks are either frescas or canned sodas. I got my food and they packed with a red and a green sauce, tortilla chips which i didn't order, 4 tacos, and like a small sauce/soup which I'm not sure what it's called! I've probably visited this place about 3-4 times in under two weeks. My favorite is their Tacos Dorados De Papa (potato tacos) & carne asada CA fries - the tacos de papa to go order has the toppings on the side to prevent the tacos from getting soggy but you can request to have it on top of the tacos if you want. The second time I ordered this I asked for toppings not on the side and didn't realize until after that the lemon and pepper was missing - but this didn't stop me from devouring it in under ten minutes and usually I need lemon or lime on my tacos I tried both the birria CA fries and the carne asada and the carne asada is more flavorful. TBH, I was surprised because I'm not much of a carne asada person & I've had better carne asada fries in terms of amount/portion given but NONE of them had carne asada this flavorful. Usually when I order anything carne asada there is an overly chewy/fatty piece and this place didn't have that and I loved it Each piece perfectly cut and all meat no fat Each order comes with tortilla chips and salsa & i always ask for extra salsa because they give a lot of chips. - the chips are a hit or miss, 1 out of the 4 times I ordered the chips didn't have the same fresh crunch to it, almost tasted like it was left out and double fried & this one time was the day I was missing the lemon and pepper The broth they give on the side is bomb. The tacos weren't crispy at all even though they're called tacos Dorados and the meat is very tough not soft anymore Taco should be about two dollars or 2×4 that's 8dollars with chips. That's how much you should be and the bathrooms are fucking filthy they have a graffiti and gang stuff all over the bathrooms no AC in the bathrooms. The restaurant itself is not clean. The tables are not wiped down. The kitchen area is dirty and for a family of four you're paying about $60 not worth the trip you can go anywhere else for 60 bucks.
