Frida Mexican Cuisine in Torrance earned five stars across the board. My family and I had a wonderful dinner here with friends. We had reservations and were seated promptly, and when an unexpected guest joined our party, the staff quickly and graciously accommodated us. The patio atmosphere was fantastic, with a beautiful blend of Mexican culture and Southern California flair. Live musicians moved from table to table taking requests and serenading guests. They were charming, talented, and added something genuinely special to the evening. Our waiter, Renee, was outstanding. He was patient while we waited for our final guest, attentive without rushing us, courteous, and full of great recommendations. He worked hard, always had a smile, and clearly takes pride in what he does. Exceptional service deserves recognition, and Renee absolutely earned it. I highly recommend the carnitas plate. The meat was tender and juicy, never greasy, with the perfect amount of crispness and bark. My personal test for Mexican cuisine is simple: get the beans and rice right first. Frida nailed both, and everything else followed suit. In Southern California, great Mexican food is everywhere, but Frida offers something beyond just a good meal. Quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, excellent hospitality, live music, beautiful decor, and genuine cultural character all come together to create a complete dining experience. It is a little pricier than a casual Mexican meal, but worth every penny. From the welcoming hosts and talented musicians to Renee's exceptional service, everyone contributed to a terrific evening for our family and guests. Great food, great people, great atmosphere. Love this place!! We had the Molcajete Frida which was outstanding! For drinks we had Cadillac Margaritas and Adelitas which were both great! Loved the chips and salsa! We sat at the bar both times we visited and our bartender was the same guy named Jorge who was friendly and attentive. Will be coming here on a regular basis! Came back here for our third visit on Sunday and had the Guacamole En Molcajete with Chicharrón and was not disappointed. We are writing this review as we wait for our Mole Negro order...Oops! Waited a half hour for it and the chicken breast was beyond dry! Jorge obligingly took it back and we ordered the Arrachera Norteña instead...the skirt steak was not the best cut! I really didn't want to spend too much on food for lunch, and I also didn't want anything to go to waste, so I figured, TACOS! I took a seat at the bar at Frida's and realized that this place was perfect for watching games. They had plenty of TVs with soccer and baseball games on. That's a plus for me. In addition, the seats at the bar are so comfy! I ordered two carne asada tacos at the bar and the were delicious. The meat was well seasoned and tender. I got just a bit of char for extra flavoring. It came with chips and salsa. On top of that, I got the Taco Tuesday price and only paid $8 after taxes. Miguel T was very attentive. He greeted me right when I sat down, refilled my water without me having to ask, he checked on me after my first bite, checked on me a few more times and thanked me when I left. Been here a few times but only for happy hour at the bar. Have tried the fish tacos, really good & the aguachile tostada has been a hit or miss, the spice level is either too high or very low and it also applies to the amount of shrimp you get. Drinks, my favorite so far is the Adelita, & watermelon margarita is good too. Pasion de tamarindo wasn't for me. Jorge at the bar makes a great drink, he's so friendly and doesn't make you feel like you're being rushed. Great place to grab a drink after some shopping. read more

Ive been here before few years ago and even back then this place wasnt that great.... decided to give this place another shot it still wasnt great. Its not bad but its not good either. The service was great but the food noo. The salsa was watered down and kinda had no flavor. Along with the enchiladas all that sauce still No flavor and the rice and beans were salty. The good: server was attentive but had so many tables that it hindered his ability to offer great and timely service. The bad: chips were stale and dips had no taste. Shrimp enchiladas; I have never seen such tiny shrimp (frozen??), and so few. Go to Rubios, great size and amount of shrimp in their meals. Also, green sauce was overwhelming the soggy tortillas. Came here a few more times after my last review and the experiences were better. We came in again last night and I definitely had to update my review. We came in, party of 10, Saturday night. Boxing fight night, we thought it was going to be packed. Seating outside was better for our larger party and that was totally fine because the outside heaters really put in work. Our waitress was amazing. She was on top of everything, coming to our table very often to see if we needed anything and to pick up whatever wasn't needed. Our friends loved the food and the drinks, especially the Adelita. They also really liked the restaurant for it being their first time. Our bill came out to about $500 plus $100 tip was automatically added on our tab which was okay because our waitress did an amazing job. Haven't been here for a long time... I'm glad we did, it was Happy Hour! We had the Frida platter & Taco Tasting, they were all good including the standard chips & salsa. It was a saucy salsa, chipotle & chile lime but very tasty. The taco tasting platter was sumptuous, distinct taste with each taco; asada, chicken, carnitas, pastor cochinita pibil, and pollo mole! The Frida platter had crispy taquitos, quesadillas, mini soles, & guacamole that are all so good... The mango margarita is definitely worth a try! The service is excellent from all the staff specially Jorge! The ambiance is truly modern with mostly wooden furniture, colorful striped booths, and traditional & modern Mexican music playing in the background... and they have outdoor seating too! I visited Frida at Del Amo Mall for a birthday celebration. We were seated at a round table with plenty of space between us, which made for a comfortable setup. I've been to other Frida locations, such as the one in Glendale, and the food here is decent. Think of it as a slightly pricier, upscale El Torito. The guac is served in a clay pot, though they don't make it tableside like El Torito does. Overall, the food is okay, though not particularly memorable - I probably wouldn't come this location again, given the many Mexican restaurants nearby. That said, it's a fun place for celebrations (beside some safety concerns, keep reading); they do offer a free slice of cake with a candle that shoots fireworks, which is a nice touch for birthdays. The main issue for me, and the reason I cannot give a higher rating, was the customer service and safety. While we were comfortably seated, a server accidentally burned my fingers while carrying a hot plate of sizzling fajitas. I understand serving hot dishes can be challenging, but he was carrying one plate in each hand, and one of them was a cast-iron sizzling plate with hot oil. The oil splashed on my hand, causing a burn that immediately turned my skin pink. What concerned me most was how the situation was handled. I had to track down the floor manager to report the incident, and the response was not proactive or apologetic. The manager even made a sarcastic comment about whether he should call an ambulance. This left me feeling that proper training on handling hot plates and customer service may be lacking. As I mentioned, it is a competitive market and neighborhood for good Mexican restaurants, and given their poor quality in service and safety, you can be sure I will never return to eat here. I share this not to be harsh, but as constructive feedback. The food itself is fine, and the setting works for celebrations, but safety and respectful, professional service should come first, especially in a busy restaurant environment. read more

The vibe inside is killer and there's a beautiful and serene outdoor dining space as well. We loved watching our Dodgers on their big screens. The food was delicious and authentic. I got the chile relleno because our awesome server Frank said he compared it to his Mom's homemade version and it didn't disappoint. I was also surprised about how delicious the steak nachos were. As you enter the vibes are pretty chill. We came here for a date night with friends. We made a reservation and everything went smoothly with service and food and experience as well. We started off with their Frida platter that's one of our favorites & drinks to start before our meal. Their chips and salsas are great and very flavorful especially the red one. Our waiter was very attentive and was able to split our check in two. Our food was delicious and warm and flavorful like always, I appreciated that they brought out several little baskets of chips as I love chips and salsas. This place is great! This is a very good location and casual environment for a group outing or date night. The restaurant seating is in an "L" shape as you enter, the hostess and bar area is the first thing you see. Walking forward, turn right for the main dining room. On the right hand side is a nice patio area, well lit in the evening and nice umbrellas for protection from the sun during the day. They do have lunch and combo specials priced at $14.95. I ordered the chicken mole tacos, which included two tacos on corn tortilla and a scoop of rice and black beans. We also had the pozole with the fixings (sliced radishes and shredded cabbage), along with crispy tostada shells for dipping in the savory broth. There is plenty of free parking in front and nearby parking structure. The entrance is located beside the entrance to the Del Amo Mall. When I come here, it is for a day or shopping and dining. It is a very popular shopping center with three levels of stores and other eateries. Enjoy time with family, friends or a solo outing when shopping for a gift, clothing, jewelry or shoes (for example). You are sure to work up an appetite! I came and sat at the bar for happy hour 9pm, I ordered my drink and had NOT yet touched it when I realized that I left my wallet in the car and told the bartender (Reynoldo) that I was going to my car that was parked in the front. He told me "no you need to leave your ID" I said "no I haven't even touched the drink even if I wanted to leave I could" (I didn't even move it) he insisted that I leave my ID. I've been coming to **Frida** for years and always have positive experiences -- it's consistently a great spot with good food and friendly service. Over time, I've noticed the menu changes fairly often and the prices have gone up quite a bit, which can be a little disappointing. They do offer a happy hour, but the prices aren't all that different from the regular menu. Food always comes out very quickly. That said, it's still a reliable favorite of mine. During the week, it's easy to walk right in without a wait, which is a huge plus. I haven't tried their weekend brunch yet, but I'm sure it's just as enjoyable as their regular menu! read more

My wife and I and friends dined at Frida's Sunday evening. My wife had consommé pollo and I had chicken mole (forgot what the menu name was). Her soup lacked flavor, needed salt & pepper and she rarely adds any flavoring on her own. The large chicken breast (covered with mole) was very hard. I tried to cut it, but it tended to shred and chunk apart. Again, very hard. No juicy flavor at all. Nice place though if you're into trendy atmosphere. Good customer service. read more

We visited on Friday night before heading to AMC for a movie. We were promptly seated, and warm chips with their delicious red and green salsa were immediately served at the table. We ordered the Guacamole en Molcajete, which was expertly prepared tableside. This fresh and delicious appetizer perfectly complemented the chips and salsa. We also ordered the Resplandor de Mango salad, a mix of greens, mangoes, grapes, caramelized walnuts, and goat cheese, all drizzled with their passion fruit dressing. The presentation was beautiful, though the salad was way too sweet for my taste. For our main course, we shared the Fajitas de Filete, which featured tenderloin strips with sautéed tomatoes, green bell peppers, and onions cooked medium-rare. The food is pretty good so why the Rating you ask. The portions are tiny. I ordered a Chile relleno plate that was $25. For a single poblano peppe, scoop of beans and rice. Secondly, the guacamole. It's what they're known for but for just under $20... yeah what a joke. Finally, we asked for a side of sour cream. A small little cup with a dollop came to us and when we got the bill a $4.95 charge for side of sour cream. A dollop was more than the Horchata we had which btw was delicious. The server was rarely seen. Only there to bring food and take it away. Some other waiter hit is head on the trees in the courtyard seating spilling food everywhere and didn't apologize when it splashed on guests. The nicest part was the atmosphere but it's all for show when you're paying that much for lousy service and high prices. Won't be back even for the $15 happy hour margaritas. read more
