Love this place!! We had the Molcajete Frida which was outstanding! For drinks we had Cadillac Margaritas and Adelitas which were both great! Loved the chips and salsa! We sat at the bar both times we visited and our bartender was the same guy named Jorge who was friendly and attentive. Will be coming here on a regular basis! Came back here for our third visit on Sunday and had the Guacamole En Molcajete with Chicharrón and was not disappointed. We are writing this review as we wait for our Mole Negro order...Oops! Waited a half hour for it and the chicken breast was beyond dry! Jorge obligingly took it back and we ordered the Arrachera Norteña instead...the skirt steak was not the best cut! I really didn't want to spend too much on food for lunch, and I also didn't want anything to go to waste, so I figured, TACOS! I took a seat at the bar at Frida's and realized that this place was perfect for watching games. They had plenty of TVs with soccer and baseball games on. That's a plus for me. In addition, the seats at the bar are so comfy! I ordered two carne asada tacos at the bar and the were delicious. The meat was well seasoned and tender. I got just a bit of char for extra flavoring. It came with chips and salsa. On top of that, I got the Taco Tuesday price and only paid $8 after taxes. Miguel T was very attentive. He greeted me right when I sat down, refilled my water without me having to ask, he checked on me after my first bite, checked on me a few more times and thanked me when I left. Been here a few times but only for happy hour at the bar. Have tried the fish tacos, really good & the aguachile tostada has been a hit or miss, the spice level is either too high or very low and it also applies to the amount of shrimp you get. Drinks, my favorite so far is the Adelita, & watermelon margarita is good too. Pasion de tamarindo wasn't for me. Jorge at the bar makes a great drink, he's so friendly and doesn't make you feel like you're being rushed. Great place to grab a drink after some shopping. read more

Ive been here before few years ago and even back then this place wasnt that great.... decided to give this place another shot it still wasnt great. Its not bad but its not good either. The service was great but the food noo. The salsa was watered down and kinda had no flavor. Along with the enchiladas all that sauce still No flavor and the rice and beans were salty. The vibe inside is killer and there's a beautiful and serene outdoor dining space as well. We loved watching our Dodgers on their big screens. The food was delicious and authentic. I got the chile relleno because our awesome server Frank said he compared it to his Mom's homemade version and it didn't disappoint. I was also surprised about how delicious the steak nachos were. Came here a few more times after my last review and the experiences were better. We came in again last night and I definitely had to update my review. We came in, party of 10, Saturday night. Boxing fight night, we thought it was going to be packed. Seating outside was better for our larger party and that was totally fine because the outside heaters really put in work. Our waitress was amazing. She was on top of everything, coming to our table very often to see if we needed anything and to pick up whatever wasn't needed. Our friends loved the food and the drinks, especially the Adelita. They also really liked the restaurant for it being their first time. Our bill came out to about $500 plus $100 tip was automatically added on our tab which was okay because our waitress did an amazing job. Haven't been here for a long time... I'm glad we did, it was Happy Hour! We had the Frida platter & Taco Tasting, they were all good including the standard chips & salsa. It was a saucy salsa, chipotle & chile lime but very tasty. The taco tasting platter was sumptuous, distinct taste with each taco; asada, chicken, carnitas, pastor cochinita pibil, and pollo mole! The Frida platter had crispy taquitos, quesadillas, mini soles, & guacamole that are all so good... The mango margarita is definitely worth a try! The service is excellent from all the staff specially Jorge! The ambiance is truly modern with mostly wooden furniture, colorful striped booths, and traditional & modern Mexican music playing in the background... and they have outdoor seating too! I visited Frida at Del Amo Mall for a birthday celebration. We were seated at a round table with plenty of space between us, which made for a comfortable setup. I've been to other Frida locations, such as the one in Glendale, and the food here is decent. Think of it as a slightly pricier, upscale El Torito. The guac is served in a clay pot, though they don't make it tableside like El Torito does. Overall, the food is okay, though not particularly memorable - I probably wouldn't come this location again, given the many Mexican restaurants nearby. That said, it's a fun place for celebrations (beside some safety concerns, keep reading); they do offer a free slice of cake with a candle that shoots fireworks, which is a nice touch for birthdays. The main issue for me, and the reason I cannot give a higher rating, was the customer service and safety. While we were comfortably seated, a server accidentally burned my fingers while carrying a hot plate of sizzling fajitas. I understand serving hot dishes can be challenging, but he was carrying one plate in each hand, and one of them was a cast-iron sizzling plate with hot oil. The oil splashed on my hand, causing a burn that immediately turned my skin pink. What concerned me most was how the situation was handled. I had to track down the floor manager to report the incident, and the response was not proactive or apologetic. The manager even made a sarcastic comment about whether he should call an ambulance. This left me feeling that proper training on handling hot plates and customer service may be lacking. As I mentioned, it is a competitive market and neighborhood for good Mexican restaurants, and given their poor quality in service and safety, you can be sure I will never return to eat here. I share this not to be harsh, but as constructive feedback. The food itself is fine, and the setting works for celebrations, but safety and respectful, professional service should come first, especially in a busy restaurant environment. read more

As you enter the vibes are pretty chill. We came here for a date night with friends. We made a reservation and everything went smoothly with service and food and experience as well. We started off with their Frida platter that's one of our favorites & drinks to start before our meal. Their chips and salsas are great and very flavorful especially the red one. Our waiter was very attentive and was able to split our check in two. Our food was delicious and warm and flavorful like always, I appreciated that they brought out several little baskets of chips as I love chips and salsas. This place is great! He told me "no you need to leave your ID" I said "no I haven't even touched the drink even if I wanted to leave I could" (I didn't even move it) he insisted that I leave my ID. I told him I'm not leaving my ID I'm going to the car to get my wallet. I asked to speak to the manager. I told her or him (there was two he pointed to when I asked who was the manager) they were both very hesitant and I again repeated my car was right in the front I even have the Make and color of my car ! I only came back in because I drove all the way here and I did want my drink. I will not ever return to this location. This is a very good location and casual environment for a group outing or date night. The restaurant seating is in an "L" shape as you enter, the hostess and bar area is the first thing you see. Walking forward, turn right for the main dining room. On the right hand side is a nice patio area, well lit in the evening and nice umbrellas for protection from the sun during the day. They do have lunch and combo specials priced at $14.95. I ordered the chicken mole tacos, which included two tacos on corn tortilla and a scoop of rice and black beans. We also had the pozole with the fixings (sliced radishes and shredded cabbage), along with crispy tostada shells for dipping in the savory broth. There is plenty of free parking in front and nearby parking structure. The entrance is located beside the entrance to the Del Amo Mall. When I come here, it is for a day or shopping and dining. It is a very popular shopping center with three levels of stores and other eateries. Enjoy time with family, friends or a solo outing when shopping for a gift, clothing, jewelry or shoes (for example). You are sure to work up an appetite! My wife and I and friends dined at Frida's Sunday evening. My wife had consommé pollo and I had chicken mole (forgot what the menu name was). Her soup lacked flavor, needed salt & pepper and she rarely adds any flavoring on her own. The large chicken breast (covered with mole) was very hard. I tried to cut it, but it tended to shred and chunk apart. Again, very hard. No juicy flavor at all. Nice place though if you're into trendy atmosphere. Good customer service. read more

We had a good lunch at Frida's with some friends. I had a fish taco and shrimp taco, and both were quite good. Our pitcher of margarita was also satisfying, as was the guac. Our server was very nice too. My only complaint is that it is a bit pricey, but the food was tasty. read more

I've been coming to **Frida** for years and always have positive experiences -- it's consistently a great spot with good food and friendly service. Over time, I've noticed the menu changes fairly often and the prices have gone up quite a bit, which can be a little disappointing. They do offer a happy hour, but the prices aren't all that different from the regular menu. Food always comes out very quickly. That said, it's still a reliable favorite of mine. During the week, it's easy to walk right in without a wait, which is a huge plus. I haven't tried their weekend brunch yet, but I'm sure it's just as enjoyable as their regular menu! read more

Yesterday we came to this restaurant for brunch to celebrate my birthday, and I hadn't been here in a few years. It was 75 percent empty, which was surprising. The issue started at the host with the two little girls, greeting people to come in. They weren't very welcoming, not a smile or a nice hello, and they didn't want to look at our eyes. I'm sure it's because they are young, but this should be automatic. Part of the experience. We sat down, and our waitress was very sweet, very welcoming. 5 stars for her, actually, she's the only reason we stayed all the way through. The restaurant still had two hours' worth of brunch left. The mariachi was done for the day, I guess, because when we arrived, they played one more song and stopped, which is fine considering they had played all that time before us. Still, the music that came next was not Frida-worthy. Some Lila Downs would have been nice; Mexican folk music would have brightened up the mood in the restaurant. We get up, start serving ourselves food, we go to the taco stand, and the lady serving was not welcoming, happy, or anything. She was borderline rude and not happy to see us in front of her. It made me feel very awkward, asking her for some tacos that I paid for, like I'm an inconvenience to her, but I got my taco de al pastor and lengua. The meat was nice, but it needs seasoning. For the rest of the food, it was disappointing too. I had a little bit of almost everything, and with such a heavy name like Frida, it was a very disappointing experience, with bland food, as if they put no effort into making things right or authentic-tasting. The costillas with tomatillo red salsa: they overboiled the tomatillo, making it bitter. Same with the carnitas en salsa verde, the posole needed salt, the spices made it a little better, but not really. Is it like they only want to cater to rich tasteless people? Where is the season? We're is my grandmothers recepe. As fast as the variety, they need to work on that. I want mole oaxaqueño; I want machaca con huevos, enchiladas mineras, not the dry enchiladas suizas they had. Am I being too much? Maybe, but I think with a name like Frida, it should hold some weight; it should cater not only to people with deep pockets, but to her jente too. My family was extremely lucky to have had the privilege to dine with Frank as our waiter. This was the second time getting to have him and he never seems to leave me speechless. He is always extremely helpful in taking the time to explain the menu in detail, give amazing recommendations and always showing the upmost gratitude. I will definitely becoming back and hope to get to have him as waiter again. I recommend Frida's 10/10. Very disappointing experience. We made an 8:30 PM reservation to celebrate my niece's graduation, arrived on time, were seated, and ordered our drinks and food promptly. By 9:30 PM, we still hadn't received our food. When we asked about the delay, our waiter told us they had a lot of walk-ins and, in his words, "we're giving them priority." What's the point of making a reservation if walk-in customers are going to be prioritized over those who planned ahead? I understand restaurants get busy, but that explanation was unacceptable. The food was very pricey just because it has fancy names and not because it's good...I ordered black beans, white rice and cochinito pibil...I have been in Merida, Mexico and the cochinito pibil was very tasty...this one was extremely dry and I almost choked...the black beans were spicy but they are not supposed to be. We were going to order online and leave after the rude encounter. Anywho, Alejandro the chef encouraged for us to stay and I am glad he encouraged us He went above and beyond to ensure that everything else was remarkable moving forward. We visited on Friday night before heading to AMC for a movie. We were promptly seated, and warm chips with their delicious red and green salsa were immediately served at the table. We ordered the Guacamole en Molcajete, which was expertly prepared tableside. This fresh and delicious appetizer perfectly complemented the chips and salsa. We also ordered the Resplandor de Mango salad, a mix of greens, mangoes, grapes, caramelized walnuts, and goat cheese, all drizzled with their passion fruit dressing. The presentation was beautiful, though the salad was way too sweet for my taste. For our main course, we shared the Fajitas de Filete, which featured tenderloin strips with sautéed tomatoes, green bell peppers, and onions cooked medium-rare.
