I went in for a quick bite stopped to use the restroom before ordering because I couldn't hold it. Female Employee comes knocking on door i tell her ill b right out ive only been in there about a minute I hurry because I think someone needs to use the restroom and since it was one single restroom I was trying to be fast. A minute later Employee comes back w a male employee and unlocks restroom door that opens to a street view. At this point im washing my hands so I look at them and walk out. The male employee looks almost dumbfounded that the woman had him open the door. What if I had been on the toilet?? How is violating my privacy ok? I proceed to go inside to order the same lady asks me what i want in those exact words I asked her why she did that she says I needed a key but obviously I didnt since restroom was unlocked. I get if I were in there a long time but I was in there no more than 3 mins. Its really ridiculous that they think its ok to have a man just open a restroom anytime they feel like it

This place reminded me of my childhood. I couldn't wait to get enough money saved Jo so I could by a carne asana burrito from the taqueria. It took me all the way back. This is your abuela cooking in the back. This was home. I ordered the carne asana nachos and they were FIRE!!! Seasoning was on point. The serving was plentiful and I thoroughly enjoyed my food. This may be a small hole in the wall but baby it ain't missing a beat. I'm so glad i came in I've been waiting to find a small Mexican food spot for a quick cheap bite. So good!

Muy deliciosa comida siempre super fresca como recién echa en casa esta ves ordenamos menudo con una salsa super deliciosa y tortillas a mano con una deliciosa agua fresca de limón con chía definitivamente super recomendados el servicio super amable y rápido

Birria tastes old. The beans was burnt and the rice had no flavor. This was the worst 15 dollars I've spent!!!

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! You can't go wrong with Mexican food!

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

This is one of those places where you know exactly what you're going to get every time--great food and excellent service. The service is consistently excellent. The staff is attentive, friendly, and does a great job of checking on the table without being overbearing. Their salsa is probably some of the freshest and best I've ever had. It has great flavor and is one of the things I look forward to every time I come here. My absolute favorite is their green chile pork, which I get as a chile verde wet burrito. It is outstanding. I honestly haven't tried a huge portion of the menu because when I find something I really like, I tend to stick with it--and their chile verde wet burrito is just too good for me to pass up. That said, I've also had their ceviche, which is very good, along with their hard-shell tacos. Even the basics like the rice and beans are consistently good. I try to make it to Enrique's at least once a month, and after dozens of visits, they continue to deliver. Consistency means a lot to me when it comes to a restaurant, and Enrique's has earned my repeat business. Excellent food, excellent salsa, excellent service, and one of my favorite chile verde burritos anywhere. An easy five stars.

The vibe was happy and welcoming, although the occasion itself didn't seem to play much of a role in the evening. The food definitely leans toward a newer Mexican-fusion style. We went with the $25 unlimited tacos, and the carnitas were the standout--tender, flavorful, and easily my favorite of what I tried. Several people in our group also loved the baked, churro-ish postre, which disappeared pretty quickly. What really came through was the neighborhood support. The place had a cool, local energy and people genuinely seemed happy to be there. The staff were working hard and wearing several hats at once, which likely contributed to the long waits between ordering and actually getting our food. Overall, it's a cool neighborhood spot with its own personality and a modern approach to Mexican food. Is it completely my vibe? Probably not--but I'm old, so take that part of the review with a grain of salt. I can still appreciate a place that knows the crowd it wants to serve.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH.
