    Chicken Quesadilla Combo 13.49
    Greta F.

Stopped by here a few weeks back while in the area, and I wish I would have kept going. When I walked in there was one person at the cash register that was on the phone taking an order, she did not even acknowledge me and after she got off the phone I had to be the one to great her. Then I get to the menu, which has no prices. So don't rely on the prices that are shown on Yelp, or even for their online ordering. I got a chicken quesadilla combo, which totaled $13.49 pretax. Which is weird considering online a chicken quesadilla a la carte is $4.49... and when we asked about the difference of the prices online vs in store she said she had ran me up correctly and that's the price on the computer. But $9 up charge for beans, rice and a drink? Yeah, no thanks. I give this place two stars, because the food was OK. The quesadilla chicken was drowned in a sauce and the chicken was shredded super thinly. The rice and beans average. Overall, disappointed in my experience and wouldn't recommend stopping in.

I've been going to El Taco-Miendo for years and have generally been pleased. However, as of recently, it's experiencing shrinkflation. Take a look at the street taco I ordered. It's about as long as my pinkie, or slightly longer than a lime wedge. I could seriously eat it in one bite. They also charge for chips and salsa. We need a break El Taco-Miendo. I'm seeing other people.

    Gordita plate. Spectacular.

Something very magical is going on here with the food, and an awful lot of people get it. Specifically, when you see Hispanic day workers in large numbers lined up to get in the door when there are tons of places to eat along this strip of town, including many very good Mexican eateries, then you know the food is first-rate. And this gringo is here to tell you they know what's going on here. Flavor, great cooking that shows the love, ingredients shining. Holy guacamole, my gorditas were busting with pure corn flavor, perfectly prepared shells clearly made in-house, packed with my meat of choice on this trip--pastor--then topped with tomatoes, onions, cilantro and white cheese which I assume to be Queso Fresco but could be wrong. Tasty, that's what it all is. No, better than that, pure savory bliss. Best gorditas in town to pass these lips. My order was a plate so came with arroz y frijoles. If a place can't get these right, I'm done with it. No problem here. Superb. Friend opted for the tacos. He's a cabeza fan and thinks these are some of the very best he's had. That's saying something because we've both eaten a LOT of this food in greater metro area. Sauces appear to be made from scratch, another reason to love this place. There are hundreds of great taquerias in the metro area, and some very good ones along the highway here. Why would you need to revisit any single one? Because it's that damn good, that's why. I'll be returning here again. Ambiance - 2 stars, complete with stained, falling ceiling tiles Cleanliness - 3 stars, questionable Food - 5 stars, something very special going on Price - 5 stars. Competitive pricing comparing to similar eateries Visa and Mastercard only. Lot parking. Don't be surprised if there's a line to get in.

This is a great find for those seeking the real deal Mexican in Kansas City. The menu is limited, but what you'll find on it is as delicious and authentic as anything you'll find on Southwest Boulevard. I grabbed a selection of four tacos prepared in the traditional manner (onion and cilantro on soft corn tortillas). They were served on the standard, small street taco tortilla size. Nothing surprising here. They didn't double-layer the tortillas for the carne asada (bistek in this case), but they held together just fine, so no worries. Each of the four I got were delicious. I'm not even sure I could pick a favorite - maybe the bistek - maybe the al pastor. Regardless, they are an exceptional bargain. And taco Tuesday - people should be lining out the freaking door for that deal! Great place. Nice service. Definitely worth checking out.

My al pastor burrito was delicious, and nicely sized. I was offered a choice of two sauces (mild or hot), and enjoyed my green hot sauce. It had just the right amount of heat, without being overwhelming. The service was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The dining area was true to the authentic cuisine, with Mexican music playing, and TVs tuned to a Mexican channel. Very nice!

Your bowl of chips is rarely empty for long (especially for a glutton like me) and meals are delivered hot & ready. It's a big space, and when the place is packed, there is a LOT of service traffic on the floor. Wait times are usually not bad and the tables turn quickly with all of the help happening. The food is good, maybe not great. But it's not far from great and if you ordered something that would be delivered hot, then you can be sure that it will be served VERY hot. A plate of carnitas runs about $16, comes with tortillas, and is served very hot. K Machos makes a sensational traditional carnitas plate, and this is one of those top shelf items to try. If you want a taco salad or standard TexMex plate, then you get the good level. K Machos has a great drink menu and great drink specials. Their chips are the perfect level of thin and crispy, the salsa is great, and I love the wide range of margarita flavors they offer. As far as the service.... Again, been going here for two decades and I don't recall one single occasion of bad service. It's always been the kind of place where they recognize and appreciate the regulars. It's a good atmosphere! I suppose I should talk more about the food. Again, never a bad experience really. I get one of two things- the steak fajitas, which are good but not incredibly memorable- or the divine chicken cream cheese enchilada. I haven't been able to find it's like anywhere. I lived in Texas for three years and I LONGED for my cream cheese chicken enchiladas. The sauce, oh the sauce..... I always get extra, both for the dish itself and to dip my chips in. I will say that the only downside is doing to go or a call in order.... It is not exactly uncommon to find that an extra sauce is missing. Or, for example, if you don't specify that you want the free chips and salsa, it may not be in there. Just check the bag before you leave, that's all I'm saying. Still, one or two little mistakes absolutely will not stand in the way of a five star rating. I honestly love eating here.
