We came here after a hike up Vroman's Nose. This is a nice locally owned business which follows the Chipotle model (tacos, burrito, or bowl, choose your protein, etc.). They stock Jarritos drinks, and the place is colorful and inviting. I had the veggie tacos on corn tortillas, fairly large portions. One quibble, I think they should double up the corn tortillas since they fall apart otherwise. (I would guess that they mostly get flour tortilla orders since they had to go fetch the corn tortillas out of the fridge. But I was glad to see they heated them up properly rather than serving them cold and hard as some places do.) The salsas were fairly mild, so be clear if you want more heat when choosing your salsa. Never disappointed when I stop by this little place. The food is always delicious and the staff are very nice and accommodating. I have tried multiple things from the bowls, to tacos, to the delicious hand cut deli subs like the one pictured. The restaurant is something of a build your own style, similar to a more wide spread burrito franchise, but it tastes fresher and the portions are much more generous. This is a milestone for any restaurant, but I'm not the least bit surprised as El Taco Shack is a well run operation. From the totally remodel building on Mainstreet, to the food and the restaurant layout, all top notch. We opted for the Cheeseburger Quesadilla, made with ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato & pickles. It was really delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Very nice and happening addition to this usually "quiet on the weekend" main street. Very nicely done on the inside, outdoor seating in the warm weather, great tunes blaring on the system, cool staff, a rainbow flag swaying in the breeze, and some great grub! We went for the ahi tuna tacos, layered with a pineapple Pico de gallo, cucumbers, and jalapeños. Topped off by some wasabi cucumber sauce, the only thing it was missing was a squeeze of lime. It's available, so I'll do it next time. Three tacos per order, very tasty, and not the usual fare around these parts. Speaking of unusual: The jackfruit salad bowl was not only a great value, but was seasoned nicely, loaded with whatever ingredients we could fit into the container...and that's a lot. A brilliant idea by the owners to bring some vegetarian items to the land of grass fed meats and free range poultry! We wish them the best and will definitely be heading over there again. Upstate NY is not known for being food inclusive, although the Otsego/Delaware/Schoharie counties are known for being a foodie havens depending on the town... However, arguing with a customer about something you might not necessarily know you did- like touching a food allergen- isn't okay, especially when they watch you prepare the food before theirs. Reasonably priced IMO because it was no more than a meal at a fast food joint and it was REAL food. I also love that they use biodegradable, plant based containers. Highly recommend for vegans/vegetarians living in the area or visiting! They have beyond meat and tofu (and maybe another option but I cannot remember). It is set up similar to chipotle. At first appearance this place was quaint! With selection aplenty! Everything look delicious! I decided to order a burrito, I opted for the white rice, pork, lettuce, onion, pico, queso fresco, and crema. Let's start with the rice, which had clearly been sitting on the stem table all day long. The pork, it was on a steam table in what looked to be a mixture of pork fat and water, and ended up being flavorless (you'd think for soaking in it's own juice there would be some sort of flavor or at least some cumin in it) when I got past the lettuce and onion for my burrito it came to the salsa, which traditionally (or at least in the kitchen world) is referred to as pico just a basic traditional salsa composed of tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic, salt, lime and cumin. The only flavor profile this salsa had was cilantro, and nothing else! Food aside, the two girls working the counter were decently friendly, but no overly excited to be doing their job. read more

To start, I really loved the effort put into the decor. The tin ceilings are a nice touch and the color scheme is very tasteful. I liked the food. I had the "Burrito Bowl". I was very happy to see the vegan options. The ingredients were very fresh and the young men working there were very gentlemanly. My only complaint is that the food is very under-seasoned and they do not provide salt and pepper in the dining room. When my partner asked initially, they said they don't have salt or pepper. I am a chef and went back up to the counter and asked them to get us some from the kitchen. The young man obliged. Without it, the food would have been extremely bland. With it, we enjoyed our meal. I mention this only as a bit of advice to the this establishment. You really should be tasting to see that your food is seasoned adequately, and even still, should provide salt and pepper for your customers, as it can make or break someone's experience. Other than that, I think this place has the makings for great success and wish them the best. read more
