I was up in Templeton and I asked a friend where could I get some Mexican food. She suggested this place and said it was good. The place is very non-descriptive and there are other Mexican restaurants near by. I don't now the servers name, but friendly and checked on us. We were give chips/salsa and water. My husband had a Pacifico and I had a Blue Moon Beer on tap. My husband and I both got the carnitas with rice and beans. The carnitas was good, would have loved more seasoning. Came with your choice of tortillas. I requested sour cream and that was no problem. The prices were very reasonable, usually we had to pay more. The decor was OK, clean and spacious.

Delicious food and phenomenal service ! Ever since Crystal and her crew took over it has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Atascadero. Kid loves the chicken strips & curly fries. I love the chili verde dinner and wifey loves the tacos along with chips & salsa . Thank you

    Medium Carnitas Burrito

Having driven by this place countless times on 41 we finally stopped in to try it out. Nice old school ambiance with the tiles and booths. It is a bit cozy, but not too bad. They were nice and kid friendly for our 3 year old. Menu is easy to read, not too many options like some other places. Service was good, they seated up and got us water right away. I ordered a medium burrito because I was fairly hungry, and it was pretty big. It was well seasoned, great flavor and not overly salty. Carnitas was juicy with a few crispy bits. The medium burrito should be more than large enough for most people, as it was the same size as a large burrito at other places. Good food, good service, easy to find location. We're looking forward to coming back to try other dishes.

Taco Tuesdays- 4 for $10 /w choice of meats

The wife and I shared a Taco Tuesday special with 4 tacos for $10. Had two grilled chicken and a Al Pastor and a carne Asada. Also added the Bean Dip appetizer which was completely unnecessary but very tasty nonetheless. Will certainly return to check out other options. Interior decorations are nice, and the exterior has mini seating options both covered and uncovered. Service was friendly.

Great location with plenty of parking. The location is a little off the beaten path, but located across the street for the lake, park and zoo. Everything here is delicious. I love their tamales, tacos, and chimichanga. The chips are always fresh and hot. This is hard to find these days. Great service! Food comes out quick and the server is always attentive. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Atascadero.

Located right across the street from the Atascadero Lake/Park/Zoo, on the 41, is El Taconazo. With its own decent size parking lot, you should have no problem parking. They have seating outside, but due to rain, inside it was. The inside looks like a traditional Mexican restaurant. Frescos on the walls are a great touch. We were greeted by Cristal. Cristal is awesome. She is a very hard worker. During lunch, she was running the front of house by herself. We honestly didn't have to wait for anything. Drinks, chips and salsa, our food, refills of chips and drinks, and check, zero wait. She was on the ball! Her customer service skills were high level. We were given chips and salsa. The chips were bubbles, salty deliciousness. The salsa is very tomatoey, in the best way possible. Their chips and salsa are my favorite in North County. I ordered the Chile Relleno Giant Burrito, no beans, with grilled chicken. It was huge! The tangy sauce, melted cheese, creamy sour cream, and guacamole, coated the top of the burrito, like a beautiful blanket of love. The soft tortilla wrapped around the fluffy rice, charred grilled chicken, melted cheese and vibrant chiles. Acidity, fat, creamy, salty, smokey, soft, smooth, charred bomb, layered with depth. Just delicious! My daughter had the side order of beans and rice (3 yr old), she loved them. We always have a great meal when we go here. Can't wait to go back!

Another great meal here and service tonight. Had the Shredded Beef Chimichanga again, with pictures this time and T had the combination with Chicken Tamale, Beef Taco, Rice and Beans. Will definitely have future return visits.

Chicken Taquitos, side of beans and rice and tasty chips warmed with salsa.

Food is blah. The inside is kind of dark. It's not horrible, it's not great. The staff are really nice though!

First with the positives, this place is very big inside, they offer plenty of seating for large groups, and also have a very nice bar area. Now on to the negatives. Upon arrival we were greeted by... no one, we walked into the seating area and found a worker who said that we could sit anywhere we like. The place was almost completely empty except for one couple. We were brought chips and salsa and menus and we not interacted with again for about 8-10 minutes. No waters or anything. Finally when our waiter did get our order, we finally received waters. I honestly felt like an inconvenience. I ordered the shrimp burrito. When it arrived I was pretty surprised with how sad it looked. Literally just a burrito on a plate. No sauce or no cheese on top, no garnish nothing. Very disappointing. Nothing like the other pictures posted. And 19 dollars! My wife's plate looked presentable. Flavor was just ok. They definitely need to work on presentation as well as consistency. For 54+ dollars, I wouldnt return.

I had a Paloma which was tasty, but the real star was their horchata - so creamy good! Ambiance Black tables, chairs, and concrete-like tile, so noisy, but not overly so. Good for casual dates, girls or guys' nights, and large groups. We were told that tonight (Friday) at 9:30 a DJ will be coming in and there'll be karaoke on their stage, which we'll have to check out another time. All-in-all, a solid dining experience and excellent service.

Seemed like you could park in the other lot on the north with the human bean coffee shop, and walk across the cute connecting bridge that brings you to this lot in front of TJ. Anyway, it was nice and cozy inside, with counter to grab seafood or order some food. Inside had maybe 4 or so tables, while outside had many more. First went outside after ordering, but it was quite windy chilly so went back inside:) Had checked out the menu ahead of time, so ordering was easy. Tall young man was super friendly. Even brought out the food to the table when ready. - Fish n Chips = was so crispy and fresh, absolutely delicious and kid ate it up. plenty of fries too that we all could share - Fish tacos = got one grilled, one fried. Of course fried tastes better, but grilled was great as well. Covered in cabbage and special sauce. The sauce was excellent and addictive, easily defeated all the cabbage. And the fresh fish pieces in these were huge/thick, just awesome. The salsa that came on the side I guess is for the tortilla chips, since the taco had that special sauce on it, so no need salsa on it to detract from the special sauce. The tortilla chips seemed to be fresh cut and fried in house, was so crunchy good, especially when get a chip with a bit of salt on it. - Salmon salad = this was fantastic as well. Generous salmon pieces and the balsamic glaze was perfect with salmon and salad. I guess 2 of the salmon pieces were the skin, which was the best part! Such a delicous way to get your omega 3!!! With so many places to try, sadly only got to eat here once, but it was up there as a memorable meal, A+! And allows for you to walk off your fullness at TJ afterward, just perfect.

The red sauces always seem to give me heartburn, so I thought Id try the Rosemary Chicken. I took most of the chicken home and after cooking it at 350 for 20 minutes it was tolerable. My husband's butternut squash ravioli was a much better choice, and since it was so rich he could only eat half of it, I got to take it home and have it for lunch the next day. So far, it's the only thing on the menu that has lived up to expectations. Really, is it so hard to make a traditional Italian dish? A good plate of spaghetti with meat sauce would be a welcome addition. Or a good Pasta Primavera. And how about a lasagna that actually has filling? I wish their chef de cuisine would take a trip to Italy and learn how to prepare real Italian cuisine. This is pathetic.
