Always a five star experience at La Chata! The food, service and sides are perfect! - Thank you for accommodating my needs. I appreciate that you used my metal, personal to-go containers. - Free parking, bathroom on site, handicap parking and an easy order window are all great reasons to dine here.

a local recommended la chata in downtown templeton...headed over for lunch...finding a small building with order and pick-up windows...a menu between the windows...a simple short menu with breakfast, burritos, tacos, taquitos, etc...ordered a carne asada burrito $13.50...street tacos $12.50 each order and comes with 4 tacos per order...requested 2 orders in a variety of meats ...chicken taquitos $12.50...seating in front of the order/pick-up windows...additional picnic table seating under a covered patio area in the back...another separate structure off to the side with an indoor dining room with 2 large tables...food ready and picked up from the window...everything looked fantastic...one bite and you can tell the freshness and quality....taquitos were fat and loaded with chicken breast meat...green sauce is tasty and the pinkish red sauce brings on some serious heat...tacos are double tortillas filled with meat and fixings...fantastic tacos...the carne asada burrito was just awesome...the meat was so good and the star of the burritos...filled to the max...great filling meal for 5 people for only $65.64 total after tax and tip...a fantastic deal for quality tacos and burritos...

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and it did not disappoint. Finding a good Mexican restaurant in slo county is hard, but La Chata really made an impact. The chilaquiles were crispy and the sauce was delicious. The portions were pretty big! I'll be retuning.

    Quesabirria tacos

The best Quesabirria tacos! 10/10 recommend to eat here! We already can't wait to come back!

It's hard for me to overstate how amazing the food is here. California has some insanely good Mexican food, but this takes the proverbial cake for me. I have no idea how they made the pastor tacos like that, but that was truly unbelievable. We were lucky enough to speak with the owner as well, who was so lovely and friendly. If I lived nearby, I would be here every day. 10/10!

Still great customer service and great food. They were a bit busier this time around but it is taco Tuesday, and people need their taco fix! Quesabirrias still delicious and savory! This time I ordered the mini potato tacos and was not disappointed. 6 mini tacos stuffed with potatoe (like mashed potatoes) and cheese, topped off with lettuce/cabbage mix, slices of tomatoes (I asked for no onions) and what I think is a tomato sauce and cheese. Everything is delicious and I recommend locals and visitors to stop by!

One of the best Asada Burritos I've tried. Savory and tortilla well done. Definitely coming back to LA Chata

This is my favorite Mexican food in the area! I have tried most of the items on their menu and this was the first time I remembered to take a picture before devouring my food. Everything is fresh and the sauces are made with fresh ingredients from their garden. Here are my favorites: 1. Machaca Breakfast Tacos and Burrito - So delicious! 2. Potato Taquitos 3. Chicken Taquitos 4. Quesabirrias Tacos The red sauce they serve with everything is amazing and the service is impeccable. Sometimes we sit out front and sometimes we take it over and eat out front of Wines On Main with some wine. Wherever you choose to eat it, you will be thrilled with your choice. Enjoy!!

Had to stop in because of the great reviews. It's a little off the main path but easy to find. It's a small order at the window but they have a nice selection of outdoor seating. There was about a 15 minute wait for a burrito at lunch time which wasn't a big deal. Very limited menu but ordered the Asada Burrito. So I chose 3 stars but would rate a 3.8 out of 5. The meat was cooked well. The tortilla was fresh and grilled. My only problem is there wasn't any flavor. It was missing something. Everything was fresh but very bland. They give you 2 salsas. Beware of the orange is very hot. The green was good but also lacked any real flavor. It was just heat. This wasn't a bad spot if you're in the area however I would not drive out of the way to eat here.

I avoided this place for a long time and I'm truly not sure why. About 2 weeks ago I decided to try it and realized I've robbed myself of some of the most flavorful food I've had around slo county . It really is a hidden gem. Since then I've gotten food here 5 times in just 2 weeks about to be on my 6th . We usually get the birria tacos which are a perfect portion and extremely flavorful . The enchiladas are absolutely scrumptious as well I could probably eat them twice a day if my wallets allowed it . Service is always great and the place is cute and small with outdoor seating . Definitely recommend it !

I drive over a hour round trip to get the potato tacos. So delicious!!! The owner and workers are all so friendly. (Wish they had a few more vegetarian options but the tacos are "A+" )

Real folks enjoying hearty comfort breakfast served up by real folk with big personalities in a diner environment. The food... I ordered a cup of coffee and Hubs the iced tea. Our waitress never let us see the bottom of our glasses. Very attentive. Even offered to refill the drinks to go. We ordered the 2-2-2 eggs, cakes and bacon plate to share and a side garden salad. Yes a salad for breakfast. Super glad that they served that and didn't have to wait until lunch time.the cakes were huge. Big as my round Charlie Brown head. Yummy tasting with a touch of sweetness. The bacon served crispy. Classic diner style. Plus the waitress didn't even bat an eye, no attitudes about plate sharing. She was terrific. She and the other waitresses were fun and sassy. But coming here the other night to dine & socialize with friends, I was duly impressed and the food was excellent. The burger was absolutely delish and one of the best in the greater Paso area. The caesar was HUGE made with little gem lettuce -- we loved it. The wings were perfect, so good. Service was lovely. The server had an attitude when I had to return the salad for having cheese (I am allergic) claiming I did not request to have no cheese (which I did clearly). As to food quality, the appetizers were amazing. We ordered the home made chips and shishito peppers, which were the highlight of our meal. The quality was overall fairly decent. The salad was not properly washed and had lots of sand particles in the leaves, which made it inedible. I therefore leave a mixed review. I have no plans on ever recommending this place, or returning for another meal.
