My party of 3 enjoyed the fajitas for 2 and vegetarian quesadilla. The service is excellent too! We came in the middle of the day after a hike and we're warmly welcomed. The fajitas tacos had a side of rice, sour cream, and black beans. We chose fresh corn tortillas yet enjoyed the hefty amount of food with just the rice. There was so much food, we had leftovers for another meal the next day. I enjoyed a horchata in restaurant too. This was fun after a half day hike at hidden falls.

Drop in for early lunch a couple months ago. Told myself I had to bring my lady back for dinner. So glad I did. Wow what an incredible dining experience. I order the same thing at every Mexican restaurant. Yours hands down was some of the best we've ever had.. Sergio our server was awesome as well. Good job. We will be back

Absolutely love this place, the salsa and bean dip that comes as a complimentary starter are bursting with flavor! The staff are always friendly and helpful. The inside is nice and always packed full of hungry patrons. I'm a huge fan of their Shrimp Tacos. Every time we are coming back from Reno this is our go to stop for dinner!

I know it's Monday, but if you're looking for a GREAT TACO TUESDAY NIGHT, THIS IS THE PLACE! I came into El Tapatio for their all you can eat street Taco Tuesday dinner. I was curious about it on previous visits and if you don't like street tacos, we can't be friends On Tuesdays, you have to sit in the bar area. Their street Taco Tuesday special starts at 3pm and goes until 8 pm. The servers can be very busy during this time. They like to greet you, bring you chips, salsa, and warm beans. Drinks. Then take your order. All separate trips to your table. After your server puts your order in, they give you an order slip to take over to the designated area to get your tacos. At all you can eat for just $2.50 a street taco and your choice of meat... that can't be beat! The nice thing about coming over to this designated area is that you meet lots of Taco lovers and you can find out from them what they think is terrific. The proteins they are offering for the night is written on a wall. Some options are: Chicken Steak Carnitas Birrira Lengua Al pastor and maybe one or two others. *THESE ARE FRESH MADE TORTILLAS! There is one woman in charge of it all. You show her your ticket (given to you after the server puts in your order) and you get to tell her which proteins you want. I really like the carnitas, lengua, and steak. With the language barrier with her, she got frustrated with me once when I told her 6 tacos- 3 carnitas, 2 lengua, and 1 steak... she can make all of them at once in the flat top grill she has, but she made them one meat selection at a time not realizing I told her I had 6 street tacos.... These tacos are so delicious and packed full of meat! There are so many toppings to choose from as you leave her window with the tacos she just made you. Lots of salsa choices, onions, cilantro, corn, fruit topped with Tapatio. Cooked onions and jalapeños! Pico de gallo!!! Limes!!! They've got your perfect street Taco party set up!! They pack these tacos with so much meat that 6 street tacos way a few too many for me. I was allowed to take home what I did not finish. My daughter loves their street tacos, too! Don't forget to tip your server as well as the woman that makes your delicious tacos!!

Fast seating. Quick drinks, chips, salsa and bean dip! Wide variety menu. Used to order Macho Combo. Gives enough for a meal and lunch next day! But the Seafood Chili Rolleno has captured me! Still a lot of food! Delicious in a white sauce and great taste!. Restaurant is loud. And I'm not a drinker, so I don't know the quality of their bar. But the food is fast and great tasting!

I think this place is a gem, nearest authentic to perfection, Ricardo was attended and food was excellent, you get your food fresh made from scratch not luke warm or cold at all, taste so good, mix your salsa for chips with that bottle tapatio picante. We came on brunch time they have display brunch in the middle room but we have the normal ala carte lunch and that is perfect.

Very yummy chili Colorado burrito Tacos weren't as exciting. $6 margaritas @ Happy Hr. Friendly attentive service. Large portions. Nice salsa bar which seems rare these days. Large dining room & bar with festive Mexican decor. We were told there is another El Tapatio in Citrus Heights.

Always great food in this authentic restaurant. Can get quite busy in weekends or holidays so be patient with seating. Certain nights local bands are performing.

We had a 14-person birthday party for my brother's 74th birthday. Our server, who as I recall was Mario, was efficient but friendly, patient with some of our party who have trouble making up their mind or have communication problems. The food was very good, the Happy Birthday song was boisterous, the "boutique" balloon animal maker was talented, and the time from order to delivery was amazing given the size of the party. Negative stars for this place because of the very very rude waiter. Attitude is never acceptable. I had Weightloss surgery and was trying to order from the kids menu (smaller portions) and I placed my order and the waiter said "umm that's the kids menu" I explained I had Weightloss surgery and wanted the kids size. Then he proceeded to say "yea you can't order from there. You have to be like under 12" But that's not what bothered me. The way he said it and the attitude I got with it is what truly bothered me. I'm not even hungry anymore and am very very disappointed in this place for that interaction. Will not be recommending to anyone if that is how the staff treats people with a medical condition. Beyond rude. read more

Service erratic. Took forever to get our order placed. Finally after people who arrived ahead of us got order placed. Happy hour menu only in bar. Tamale not great. Should have stayed with chili relleno. Husband liked his carne asada burrito. Side options not offered by waiter. Not a quiet place even at 3:30 pm. read more

Review update, love this place. The food has been exceptional each time. Manager Mario is great as he cares what customers think about their experience here. I must put spot light on bartender Eddie, we try to go when he's working to experience his excellent mixology skills!!! However, if any issues at all, manager Mario is approachable and friendly and will do whatever needed to make your experience a good one! Definitely a top shelf Mexican restaurant! read more

Celebrated my mom's 70th birthday here. Incredible food, service, management, and environment. My only complaint is the super rude behavior of the bar tender. Walked around with a rude face and sarcastic attitude. I probably won't be celebrating here again, but we loved everything else. Super impressed by all but the bit....y faced bar tender. read more

Excellent Mexican restaurant to eat, amazing food and amazing service to say the least. Yes, some reviews and the location can be misleading, but after been here 6 times I can easily say it's amazing. The food has been one of the best I have had in a while, even better than my last trip to Mexico this summer. The fajitas steak and chicken have become my favorite, the Margarita with extra sweetness rocks, and let's not forget about the flan. Love the carne asada! I usually get the asada burrito and my son likes the Mazitlan burrito. They have a really good menu selection for those who like a varied menu. The only real complaint is that they do not give you chips with the entree's that is an extra cost. read more

Each meal delivered to surrounding patrons looked better than the meal served before. My Husband FIXATED on meal served to gentleman next to us. Molcajete! Had to "debrief" the Spouse on this ELABORATE MEAL! Never dreamed HE would order, he's a 3 - item Special kind of dude, and ALWAYS the Chile relleno! Not this night! Gorgeous presentation! Awesome dining experience! Went here last night with my boyfriend, I ordered veggie enchiladas and he ordered their signature "Tapatio" burrito. We were not disappointed! The chips and salsa they brought before our meal were so fresh and delicious...it took everything we had to not fill up on them before our meal came! My boyfriend is very picky about the beef in his burritos and HATES to find gristle when he bites into carne asada...he said that this wasn't even a problem last night and that his beef was tender and juicy and gristle-free! He also ordered a blackberry margarita and it was tasty!! My enchiladas were delicious and hot...with plenty of flavor... We had a great date night and will definitely be back here again! My wife and I went into Tapatio today, July 3rd, to celebrate an award she earned at work. We sat in the bar area expecting it to be busy. Xander was running around the bar area and trying to keep up with the hustle and bustle. The manager meanwhile was walking around, offering no help. Half an hour later, we ordered drinks. It took another twenty to order food. In the meantime, Xander was helping around 20 tables. The manager's friends came in and he got them menues, drinks and chips before we even had our first drink. He then took their order and got them food. He walked by our table, as well as several others, ignoring all of us. If he had bothered to help Xander, customers would have received their food much faster. We ended up filling up on chips and salsa. I hope the owners realize the manager's incompetence and prioritizing his friends puts a negative light on the restaraunt and is costing them money. Xander was great but they need a new, supportive manager. read more

Decided to go out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Arrived at the restaurant and the place was hopin! People waiting in line, an outdoor activity area with DJ. Definitely a festive vibe. We checked in and 30-40 minutes for a table. Let's say it was one of the best experiences ever!! From Ivan seating us quicker than anticipated to our server Chris R who I think memorized the food and drink menu. The service was amazing, food was delicious and the portions are large. If you're looking for a great place make sure this is on your list! Recommend the Margarita flight! No need for a menu Chris knows all the flavors and can recite them. Thank you for the fun night!!! Cheerful. Fresh. Buzzing. Consistent. It's a family restaurant with a higher level of food quality and attention to preparation. We go there frequently, more than a dozen times since it opened. Favorites are the Avocado soup and the fiesta quesadilla. It gets crowded at lunch and dinner but the service is fast and efficient. Tends to be noisy and you expect that from a good Mexican restaurant. read more

Outstanding. My folks highly suggested this restaurant to us if we were ever in the area. Very thankful they did. The service in top notch, Carlos and Mario, thank you very much for making our visit extra special. The food, wow, it was some of the best ever. Just do me a favor and never change your salsa recipe. Great food especially for just opening!!! Chips n salsa n bean dip were good! Loved the Carne Asada. My daughter said here Ceviche was the best!!!! Servers were on top of drink n chip refills!!! P.S. I've noticed some ignorant people posting bad reviews which is pretty thoughtless to do to a new restaurant trying to make it in our town ??? Please have some class by letting them get a few months under their belt before you one star them !!!! read more

They got most of the popular beers for their michelada mix which is perfectly salted with a spicy salt brim. Had the non alcoholic corona for the road. Inside is a quick service clean version of a taco bell but with the service of a local family style cantina. You get unlimited chips and salsa which are a plus I would give thrm 5 stars if they had a green tomato salsa verde.

Unfortunately after many months of waiting for them to open, we will not be going back. The wait was long ( understandably ) accurate wait times no complaints on that. Once we were sat down a hard working busser brought us our drinks, chips and salsa. After patiently waiting for around 25 minutes we still were not waited on. When I went up to the front to ask for a server the host stated we should have one and she will go get them. After another 10 minutes of hearing them banter about who was actually our server, the bartender finally came over to help us. Mind you we were not anywhere near the bar for him to have to help us. Now everyone was sweet and working hard, but unfortunately the food was mediocre, service was crappy, and greatly sadden that a place in auburn will fail again. I will not be recommending this place to anyone as a great spot in auburn. Hoped for the best, unfortunately was let down greatly. read more

I love this place, best tasting carne asada anywhere. but, yesterday i got a steak quesadilla doordashed and let me tell you... I had to wonder if the chef was having an existential life crisis. No guac, no sour cream ( both are usually included) and they forgot my entire side dish, beans rice, corn cake. and, it was cold when it got here, as well as only half of it was sliced, there was a huge piece in there that could of been cut two more times. listen, i get it, some times places have an off day, but how bout they not when im dropping $28 bucks on a quesadilla. of course yes door dash gave me a small refund, but the few bucks back didnt even come close to fixing my ruined dinner. come on guys, you can do so much better. this is the kind of stuff that makes you look bad and lose customers that have been loyal to you. read more

The first time we visited, they had just opened. Really busy and when we finally got our food, my bacon wrapped Monterey Shrimp were very overcooked. I didn't say anything due to how busy they were but couldn't eat the burnt pieces. The next we tried was weeks later, early this evening with a to-go order thinking we could beat the rush. I ordered on the website, picked it up an hour later and this time I didn't get the rice and beans that were supposed to come with the $20 order of shrimp fajitas. Oh boy! I should have checked everything was in the 3 individual orders, but I did not. Not sure I will go back a 3rd time, th food is ok but there are better restaurants that get the orders right everytime. read more

I recently tried the 3 meat mixed Molcajete and I must say, it was good! The flavors were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I personally wasn't a big fan of the shrimp included in the dish. Despite that, I would still recommend it. In fact, next time I visit, I'm planning to opt for the chicken and steak Molcajete instead. With all factors considered, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. read more

We came here for the first time. It was Friday night and it was packed. We loved the food, service and everything. The ambiance was so good, beautiful traditional boots and happy colors used on the wall painting. The price was reasonable, the server was kind to give us discount on my daughter's food which came a bit late. We loved it and will be back again. read more
