This was hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had. My best friend and I were blown away and nearly cried tears of joy as we put the food into our mouths. The menu is huge and even has a vegetarian section which was a BIG plus for me :) Visiting from Ohio but thinking about buying a house next to the restaurant...or maybe I can see if they'll let me live in the kitchen? Stopped in for lunch and had camorones a la diabla. Good flavor but very expensive for only 4 medium sized shrimp on the plate. That dish is usually how I grade a restaurant. We were passing through Flagstaff and wanted some good Mexican food. Saw the good reviews and stopped in. Food is very good. We got a 3 item combo with a shredded beef burrito, pork burrito and a crispy Chile relleno. The crispy Chile relleno was amazing! Next time we will get 3 of those! The burritos were good. Food was okay, but our experience was awful and uncomfortable. My husband and I visited the restaurant for the first time about a few days ago and my waitress, Ericca I think it was, was very sweet and very attentive! The young boy who brought us salsa and chips was also very sweet and always gave gave us more salsa like we asked. My issue was actually was before and after we left. When we first walked in we were greeted by a man who I think was the manager, but he said something that came across very rude. But my husband and I ignored it and the host sat down. After that while we were leaving he seemed to be scolding an employee in front of costumers. Very unprofessional, it made us feel uncomfortable. Probably won't be returning, since we like to eat at restaurants with a good atmosphere and good food. This was not the place that's for sure. read more

Wow! What an amazing find. We are new to Arizona from NYC, and although we lived in metro Phoenix, this is the second time we visited Flagstaff, we simply love it's charm and as a way to beat the heat, plus the local running and hiking offerings. Anyway, during our recent weekend in Flagstaff, we were in search of Mexican food, my fiance's favorite and also a fulfilling birthday meal. We passed several on Route 66, close to our hotel, after a couple of quick google searches we decided to try El Tapatio because it seemed to have the best reviews. We are so happy we did! This place is FIVE STARS PLUS, from the atmosphere, to the food and the service. Service was great from the moment we walked in, the hostess, server assistant was so nice and friendly, we didn't catch his name. The BEST was our server Brenda, she was so nice, attentive, pleasant and apologized when our appetizer took slightly longer than expected. We were in no rush though, as we had ample chips and salsa at the table, which was as fresh as can be. Everything we had the entire meal was delicious and fresh. The appetizer combo had a little bit of everything and wow was so huge, we had to box some up or else we would have no room for our entrees. We decided on the fajita for two with the trio of meats- chicken, steak, and shrimp. AMAZING, the best fajita I've ever had, everything - the meats and veggies were so wonderfully seasoned. I am still dreaming about this dish! It was so much food we had to take some with us. Needless to say, those leftovers were such a treat later that night. This will definitely be our new spot every time we visit flagstaff. Thank you El Tapatio for being so amazing, don't ever change. We will be back! read more

I first ate dinner at their Page location & thought it was so good. When I was visiting Flagstaff I told my family how good it was & we decided to give their Flagstaff location a try. El Tapatio did not disappoint. The margaritas are the best I've ever had! All four of our entrees were delicious & our server Erika was delightful!! I must say El Tapatio is the Best Mexican food I have tasted in Flagstaff so they get 4 stars. We ordered the combo plate because there is variety so we chose cheese and chicken enchilada and the Chile relleno. I also tasted mother enchiladas suazas and they were good. I was impressed with the fresh table salsa - tasted home made. although I enjoyed my meal, I personally would have preferred a thicker spicier Chile sauce for my enchilada and would like El Tapatio to consider serving an authentic mole chili sauce without the touch of chocolate and without the peanut sauce. I want to enjoy and savor more of the Chile flavor as I did during my trip to Guadalajara , Mexico. Great service. Our waiter was fantastic! read more
