When I was younger, I would come here a lot with my family and order tacos with horchata. Now, whenever my boyfriend and I are in town, we try and stop here. We obviously get tacos, which are pretty delicious in my opinion. A few months ago I was on a nachos hunt and figured I ordered some from here. Been here two times, the first time was great! The second, not so much. I have a hard time speaking up so when I asked for BARBACOA I expected BARBACOA I didn't expect BIRRIA (birria is goat, barbacoa is beef). Anyway I didn't receive what I asked for but I ate it anyway. Wasn't the best.. but everything else on the menu can't disappoint. Highly recommend this place but make sure to speak up or ask questions. Was in town for work, so I stopped at this whole in the wall type restaurant. Standard Mexican restaurant with all the usual fare. However they did have this Chile Relleno stuffed with shrimp and some creamy sauce. It was excellent. I also got a carne asada and shrimp plate(Camarones al albañil) which was sauteed with bacon and green onions, it was pretty good. Rice and beans delicious. Chips and salsa complimentary. Good place to eat if you are in Indio CA and not too far from the Cochella/Stage Coach concert grounds, for when you are broke, craving some good food. read more

This is yummy yummy food. From the guacamole, salsa, tacos, enchiladas, fresh fish, and everything this place is spot on. Yes we drive 30 miles each direction for this great meal. My partner and I have been coming here for almost 8 years now because of the amazing $1 al pastor and cabeza tacos that they have Tuesday - Thursday along with their delicious chavelas. They serve you a basket of chips with a spicy salsa as soon as you're seated and the waitresses are always super welcoming. The best al pastor I've come across for sure. read more

If I could give this place a ZERO star I would. The low stars reviews were on point, they absolutely take a real long time to serve you. As I write this review we are still waiting for our food and it's 1:07 we got here at 11:50pm for lunch. Ridiculous! I'll never come back here again. The cooks need to get there shit together! The food here is good. I really like the whole environment and their Chabelas are pretty good. I've only been here a handful of times but like other reviewers said, what I've noticed every time is that they take a while to bring your food! I've never had a bad experience with the food itself however, so if you don't mind the wait I think you might definitely think it's worth it after you get your food. In summary, good food; long wait. Sat around for 30 min waiting for my waitress to come take my order and nothing. They wouldn't even look my way. After I got the attention of a different server i asked to see if I could place my order she took it. But waited around for an hour before I said forget it. I know cause they have a clock above the kitchen. I use to recommend tapatio to everybody including my saints and demons m.c. But never again and I suggest that if your not someone they like or a regular don't go, down the way the is a good restaurant one that has what you want most important they don't discriminate . read more

Food was decent, but definitely not worth the wait not to mention that they gave us the wrong order. The server didn't even write our order down which resulted in us not getting what we ordered. The waitress didn't speak English to get my quesadilla order correct. She asked if I wanted cilantro, tomatoes and onions. I said "yes" and it was not there. I told her I was a vegetarian and she continued to ask if I wanted meat in my quesadilla. When the waitress met me at the register since I didn't get a bill, she said the total in Spanish. I told her I don't know what that means...she didn't print it out or anything. Heck we weren't even given silverware. The beans weren't the best. The quesadilla was fine. It's hard to mess one of those up though haha. It was so loud in here. Tables are all right next to others without a gap. So, maybe if you end up here you'll meet a friend or eavesdrop on someone's conversation if you can get past the acoustics of the noise. Try somewhere else If you can. This place has the slowest service in the world. While the food is decent for the most part, if you're hungry, you can basically feed off of your anger before the food ever shows up. The servers don't give a flying noodle about the customers. No one ever comes over to ask how everything is or give an explanation of why it takes more than fifty minutes to bring out a couple of tacos, when the restaurant isn't even busy. I used to come here often because of my boyfriend (he likes the food here and is extremely patient), and I can honestly say that there isn't even one time (out of dozens of times we came) that the experience is pleasant. I wish there's another place that serves good tacos around the area. The owner can at least provide some training to the kitchen staff and server on courtesy. Damn boyfriend is too nice so he tips well, but these people don't deserve a single penny of tip. read more

Food was burnt to a crisp and dry. Tortillas smelt like under cheese. literally not lying, this was one of the worst places I've gone out to eat at. The fact that the chef sent this out says a lot about this establishment. They charged almost 7 dollars for a small bowl of guacamole that was obviously store bought. They're really tasty, they're a good size and at a great price ($1.75 each). My server was very friendly. If I go to Indio again I'd want to have lunch there :-) read more

Pretty good food... I was getting ready to write a really nice review.... but then I looked up at the light fixtures! There were more dead bugs in the glass openings than all the bugs in Corpus Christy, TX. ERRRrrrr!, Nasty!! Oh and after I finished my meal, I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to get my check!?! I see the servers working very hard... but no communication between kitchen and staff. I get my check (no questions if my meal was good or not... or did I need a to go container). . I get to the cashier and as I begin to voice my concerns... some skinny chick who is obviously a friend of the staff, goes off on me on how rude I am and how hard the staff is working, etc., etc., etc. I try to apologize for simply trying to raise some awareness to the situation as I observed it. She did not let up and if the management wants this type of face person to be the public interface.... Well, who am I to disagree? Okay.... how is this for a review..... I promise that I will never, never, EVER, return to this establishment and I solemnly promise to NEVER, EVER, allow my friends or anyone else I know.. EVER, to go to this joint, even if they only wanted a glass of water and were in danger of dying of thirst. Came here for an early dinner with some friends. Was highly recommend for the meat plate but I chose the mojarra Frita. The Mojarra frita was cooked just right, some places tend to over cook it and dry out the fish not here. With just a squeeze of lemon over the flaky meat and it was delish... we also started with stuffed yellow chili and they were tasty, tried the first one solo with no sauce or anything and it was good. We then added a squeeze of lemon a dash of soy sauce and some of the mayo and they were even better not sure why but they just were. We had a couple of the chabelas with Pacifico and they were prepared just right. My buddy had the meat plate that came with carne asada, chorizo and carnitas. Out of the three meats the carnitas was the best as the asada you could tell had been sitting in a pan for quite sometime. Other then that this was a very good outing and will def be coming back!!! read more
