Don't waste your time coming here. If you do request the taller server with the bigger glasses instead of the short server, someone like her doesn't have the personality or attitude to be a server. Either way you're going to have to seat yourselves put up with the loud music and terrible service especially the wait for food. ****** UPDATE!!! Unfortunately this place has only gotten worse with each visit. I used to come once a week and with better weather I was coming back more than often I tried to over look the bad service repeatedly especially with the short lady. I never have a problem wth my service unless she's involved this time she charged me for a ridiculous amount of onions I wanted for four tacos. I always get 4 1$ tacos with the onions cooked with the meat and a carne asada torta but I also ordered an additional 5 tacos for my friend and a pina and I asked for no onions in them since she's already charging me to put grilled onions on the side. In other words I paid 25$ for messed up tacos and a huge side of onions for tacos that ALREADY have a lot of onions on them. Just a huge waste of food. read more

When I was younger, I would come here a lot with my family and order tacos with horchata. Now, whenever my boyfriend and I are in town, we try and stop here. We obviously get tacos, which are pretty delicious in my opinion. A few months ago I was on a nachos hunt and figured I ordered some from here. I have a hard time speaking up so when I asked for BARBACOA I expected BARBACOA I didn't expect BIRRIA (birria is goat, barbacoa is beef). Was in town for work, so I stopped at this whole in the wall type restaurant. Standard Mexican restaurant with all the usual fare. However they did have this Chile Relleno stuffed with shrimp and some creamy sauce. It was excellent. I also got a carne asada and shrimp plate(Camarones al albañil) which was sauteed with bacon and green onions, it was pretty good. Rice and beans delicious. Chips and salsa complimentary. This is yummy yummy food. From the guacamole, salsa, tacos, enchiladas, fresh fish, and everything this place is spot on. Yes we drive 30 miles each direction for this great meal. My partner and I have been coming here for almost 8 years now because of the amazing $1 al pastor and cabeza tacos that they have Tuesday - Thursday along with their delicious chavelas. They serve you a basket of chips with a spicy salsa as soon as you're seated and the waitresses are always super welcoming. The best al pastor I've come across for sure. read more

The food here is good. I really like the whole environment and their Chabelas are pretty good. I've only been here a handful of times but like other reviewers said, what I've noticed every time is that they take a while to bring your food! Sat around for 30 min waiting for my waitress to come take my order and nothing. They wouldn't even look my way. After I got the attention of a different server i asked to see if I could place my order she took it. But waited around for an hour before I said forget it. I know cause they have a clock above the kitchen. I use to recommend tapatio to everybody including my saints and demons m.c. This place has the slowest service in the world. While the food is decent for the most part, if you're hungry, you can basically feed off of your anger before the food ever shows up. The servers don't give a flying noodle about the customers. No one ever comes over to ask how everything is or give an explanation of why it takes more than fifty minutes to bring out a couple of tacos, when the restaurant isn't even busy. I used to come here often because of my boyfriend (he likes the food here and is extremely patient), and I can honestly say that there isn't even one time (out of dozens of times we came) that the experience is pleasant. I wish there's another place that serves good tacos around the area. The owner can at least provide some training to the kitchen staff and server on courtesy. Food was burnt to a crisp and dry. Tortillas smelt like under cheese. literally not lying, this was one of the worst places I've gone out to eat at. The fact that the chef sent this out says a lot about this establishment. They charged almost 7 dollars for a small bowl of guacamole that was obviously store bought. It's been consistently good each time- food has never been out of context or have I left unsatisfied yet. Please make sure you bring your I.D :-) I brought a friend from LA and that friend was lucked out of the party(no ID)...but the Horchata was great she added :-) They have plasma TV- and a jukebox with 1,000,000 hits! I visited this place while the Indio Tamale Festival was going on very nearby. While I was at El Tapatio I had the al pastor and the carne asada tacos. They're really tasty, they're a good size and at a great price ($1.75 each). My server was very friendly. If I go to Indio again I'd want to have lunch there :-) read more

Pretty good food... I was getting ready to write a really nice review.... but then I looked up at the light fixtures! There were more dead bugs in the glass openings than all the bugs in Corpus Christy, TX. ERRRrrrr!, Nasty!! Oh and after I finished my meal, I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to get my check!?! I see the servers working very hard... but no communication between kitchen and staff. I get my check (no questions if my meal was good or not... or did I need a to go container). . I get to the cashier and as I begin to voice my concerns... some skinny chick who is obviously a friend of the staff, goes off on me on how rude I am and how hard the staff is working, etc., etc., etc. I try to apologize for simply trying to raise some awareness to the situation as I observed it. She did not let up and if the management wants this type of face person to be the public interface.... Well, who am I to disagree? Okay.... how is this for a review..... I promise that I will never, never, EVER, return to this establishment and I solemnly promise to NEVER, EVER, allow my friends or anyone else I know..
