    Breakfast burrito
    Derek T.

El Tarasco can always satisfy a burrito craving. Whether it is a breakfast burrito or a California steak burrito they always hit. I also love the big chips and salsa that come with the burrito. I make sure to ask for extra salsa so you have enough for the burrito and chips. This time the breakfast burrito seemed to be a bit smaller than usual and wasn't as filled as the burritos usually are. I love that they opened this location on the west side. Service is always friendly and it's a great place to take out food. I like to bring the burritos to the beach and enjoy them there. Ambiance is also great and feels authentic and homey inside.

Awesome food, awesome service. Requested fresh peppers and limes, delivered to the table, fresh Sarno peppers & limes wedges. Can't wait to go back, hopefully soon!

Got a breakfast burrito from here. Not too bad but they were chill with the service and the place was clean. I'll probably go back to check other dishes out. It was next to a job I did so I decided to check it out.

Junior Super Deluxe Burrito w/ Carne Asada

El Tarasco in Los Angeles is a culinary delight. I went for the daily special, the junior super deluxe burrito with carne asada, and it did not disappoint--full of flavor, every bite was a treat. The service is prompt, attentive, and clearly aimed to please. Food arrives quickly, piping hot, and the portions are so generous they could feed a small village. A must-visit for anyone craving delicious Mexican cuisine that is in the area or just visiting LAX!

I'm one of those people that will stick my head in a dozen restaurants, Reading menus, deciding what I want to eat. I stumbled onto El Tarasco purely by chance, and saw chilaquiles on the menu. I love chilaquiles! The restaurant is long and narrow, clean, quiet, plenty of tables, but with a decidedly local vibe. Service was immediate and friendly. The chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa was really excellent. By the end of the meal, I had sweat running off me. The chilaquiles came on a hot earthen platter, easily enough food to share. The portion was very large. I added asada for $3, and was very pleasantly surprised how much asada they piled on. The meat was tender and tasty, eggs were fresh and perfectly cooked, rice and beans were tasty. Coffee was fresh and excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this meal, and I will definitely return to El Tarasco. If you haven't eaten here, I highly recommend you give it a try.

    Bacon Breakfast Burrito

I came in after seeing some pretty bad reviews. I just wanted some quick breakfast and got the bacon breakfast burrito. They use actual papas (potatoes) not hash browns and it tasted like my mom made it. I was so surprised, I wasn't expecting it to be this amazing. There is so much bacon and it's PERFECTLY cooked. I EVEN GOT A CHEESE PULL!!! 10/10 recommend!

Honestly i didnt think it was possible to have bad Mexican in LA but this place showed me it is possible: I ordered u er eats and it was late so i didnt expect a lot. I was happy that they had a bean and cheese option because im vegetarian and for some reason mexican places have a hard time allowing you to subtract meat from ordering online Anyway but.. burrito was soooo mushy and beans were sooooo light and i didnt even finish it. The side of rice was big like a full plate almost.

It's been a while since I last ordered from here and thought why not give it a try. Food used to be good. Chicken burrito was bland and completely soggy, not even worth the money they charge. Save your money and go elsewhere. Even taco trucks taste way better!

The price is too high. $30 for 3 carne asada tacos, rice, beans fountain drink. It's good, but not nearly that good. Maybe $15-$20 TOPS.

We were staying near LAX and I didn't want to drive too far, so we stumbled upon this Mexican spot in the cutest little downtown area ever. El Segundo, you are THAT b*tch! We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately (thank goodness). Our server was super duper friendly and even had multiple conversations with us throughout the meal, sharing anecdotes and talking to my tattoo artist friend about getting a tat from her LOL. We quickly ordered some chips and queso (not free) and were blown away by how creamy and tasty the queso was. The tortas were also delicious and easy to scoop a lot of cheese on to. On to the menu, they had a good variety of Mexican dishes, but the price point, man. I thought $4-5 a taco at Barrio Queen in Arizona was steep, but this place charged $7-8 for a single small taco. I would've been okay with any menu item since it's Mexican and nothing under that cuisine could be bad, but seeing each enchilada over $30, made me steer clear of the main entree dishes. I also knew I wanted to try fish tacos, so I just opted for one fish taco and one grilled taco, with a side of mashed black beans. Crazy that some black beans also were at least $5. The fish taco was nicely battered and the guacamole was ripe and creamy, but the grilled chicken taco was nothing spectacular. There was also cauliflower tacos and beef brisket tacos ordered among us. My friend who ordered the beef brisket taco rated it 7.5/10, whereas the cauliflower tacos were rated 9/10. The food also took at least 20 minutes to arrive at the table. Both sauces my tacos came with were extremely spicy so I didn't even touch those. My friends enjoyed their meals, and the side of green rice two of them got was rather tasty. Overall, our server was the best part of the experience. She really ate DOWN, whereas our food and the price point did not.

It is pretty good and the portion size is about right for the price. (With some of the other items here, you don't get enough versus what you pay. My sweetheart got her old favorite Chilaquiles en salsa verde ($18) which is corn tortillas lightly fried, salsa verde, eggs, crema, queso Fresca, pickled red onion, cilantro & black beans and she loved it as usual. I am giving Cinco 3 stars because they have significant items that are just average and other menu items that are very stingy for the price. But again, if you know what to get you can have a nice meal and not leave hungry and angry because you paid too much for food that wasn't great.

Not ready to give up on our tortilla mission, I remembered that Hacienda del Rey also serves homemade tortillas. It had been years since my last visit, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived around 12:30 p.m., the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. The empty dining room raised a few red flags, especially since I remembered this place being much busier during lunchtime. Still, we were decided to give it a shot. Service started off a little standoffish, but things warmed up as our visit went on. The waitress confirmed they had homemade tortillas, and we ordered a basket of flour tortillas along with a 3 lunch specials. The tortillas warmed on the griddle (not made on the spot) and they were yummy. Between the three of us, we sampled quite a variety: chile relleno with rice and beans, chile relleno with a tamale, and a tamale paired with a cheese enchilada. I'll admit I was a little hesitant since it had been years since my last visit, but the food quickly put those doubts to rest. Everything was flavorful, served hot, and arrived remarkably fast. Of course, no birthday lunch is complete without margaritas. We ordered three, and while they were not very strong, they were enjoyable for an afternoon celebration. As the meal progressed, the service became noticeably warmer, and after learning it was my friend's birthday, the staff surprised us with a complimentary flan. While the restaurant was much quieter than I remembered, the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the birthday surprise added a thoughtful touch. For three people, our bill came to about $100, including three margaritas, three entrées, the tortillas, and dessert. Hacienda del Rey may not have been our original destination, but it ended up being a pleasant birthday detour. If you're in the mood for homemade tortillas and comforting Mexican food, it's worth a visit.
