I finally got to try Provecho CaliMex, which is famous for its renowned breakfast burrito. They close right at 3 PM, so you definitely want to get there a little early. We arrived just before closing time, and the staff members were nice enough to roll one up for us anyway. The burrito itself is really good and stands out from the crowd. It feels very unique because it isn't just your regular, basic breakfast burrito packed with standard eggs and tater tots. Instead, it delivers a more refined taste with authentic Mexican flavors like peppers. They manage to elevate the ingredients while keeping a steady, well balanced flavor profile that doesn't overdo it. The house salsas aren't mind blowing on their own, but they add the exact kick the burrito needs to bring everything together. I'll definitely be back earlier in the day to enjoy it again.

Great experience overall!! The service was attentive and welcoming from start to finish. We ordered the green chilaquiles with barbacoa, and it was excellent. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the green sauce had a perfect flavor. Everything tasted well-prepared and high quality. The café batido latte with almond milk and hazelnut flavor was also a standout!! It was smooth, flavorful, and a great complement to the meal. The ambiance is that of a cozy, family-owned spot, which adds to the overall charm and comfort of the experience. Would definitely recommend and plan to return and tell all my friends :)

Such good food! Didn't know what to expect but the wait was non existent. The staff was very friendly and the food is delicious.

A group of friends and I stopped by at Calimex before heading to the beach. We got there a little bit before they opened and waited till they took our order. Everyone ordered breakfast burritos to go. I ordered the Oaxacan chorizo burrito, which was really tasty and filling. It started to get busy as we waited for our burritos, they have inside and outside seating and it's definitely worth checking out. We all enjoyed our burritos at the beach.

No wonder it's a 4.8 star restaurant. The food is delicious. We had Chilaquiles with Carne Asada and Enfrijoladas . I highly recommend this place. Adequate service, restaurant is small with outside seating.

I saw their TikTok posts promoting a family-owned business some months ago, and I just happened to be in the area with my friend so I went ahead and tried this place because their TikTok posts looked good. I went with the chilaquiles and added barbacoa. Overall the plating and flavors were excellent. I added a little more of their green sauce which was some sort of avocado blend. The only thing I would change is to have it on a longer plate with everything spread out to preserve more crunchiness from the tortilla chips. Other than that, the barbacoa was tender with no chewiness (I've had barbacoa from Chipotle years ago and it was not that good like this place's). I had the eggs sunny side up to allow the yolk to be spread among the dish. I would come back again when I'm in the area. Service can be a little slow because it seems like one guy was managing the front area. But that's to be expected from a family business and I was the least of my concerns. My friend ordered a breakfast burrito. It looked well wrapped and came with some chips and salsa. I don't do burritos much but I would consider trying theirs next time.

This place is tiny! Probably less than 10 tables. But the food is BANGING. The barbacoa is the way to go. The plate comes with a huge amount of food. Burritos? Banging. But do NOT sleep on their agua frescas!! We usually get take out now so we don't have to wait in line and I always mix the agua frescas with some sparkling water and omggggg it's so refreshing and delicious. We've never had a bad flavor! They usually have 2 flavors and we will always try both. I almost don't want to blow this place up but I think they already have. I hope they stick around because it's one of my favorites!

Amazing family run spot in an unassuming location! Service is amazing as you can tell it's family run as they have the whole family working! You can tell they work hard and they deserve it! Food was great and big portions for the price. I got the chorizo breakfast burrito and it had so much flavor. The salsas that were provided could've used a bit more flavor but overall the burrito had enough spices and flavorings it didn't need extra salsa.

I should've visited this neighborhood gem way sooner! The inside reminds me of a senora's house and the nachos and taco were so tasty, fresh and just overall sooooo good! Their nachos have a lot of fresh flavors and their cheese is jalapeno infused! Mix in their fresh carne asada and you can bet I'll start becoming a regular here

Excellent chilaquiles!!!! The best! Small space but worth the wait. Very high quality ingredients! Fresh whipped cream on the pancakes and berries. (Secret squirrel pro tip: don't miss the great bbq next door on the weekends. We always get some ribs to go for later.)

I rarely give out 5 stars unless I'm truly impressed and wow this place was so good. It is super small with limited seating but it doesn't matter because the food all tastes home cooked. I got the carne asada plate which comes with rice and beans and everything was so good. The meat had good flavor and both the rice and beans were delicious! Staff was all nice and attentive. Such a wonderful hole in the wall! This spot is a family owned business and you can really witness the family running their business. Small spot but has a good amount of seating inside and out. I ordered the breakfast burrito with barbacoa meat. The barbacoa was so flavorful and the tortilla was nice and thin but crispy and held the burrito well! It was $17 but hefty (only ate half). Love how they have the whole family helping and such a heart warming experience. They're fast, efficient, and super friendly! Can't wait to try other things on their menu!

I was in the Culver City area in the morning and definitely craving a breakfast burrito. Saw this place on Yelp and it was on the way home for me from the mall. I was able to park up front on the street. Little hole in the wall type of place with a couple of seats inside. I ordered it to go at the front with a staff helping me so. Ordered their chorizo burrito and my wife ordered their bacon burrito. Price wasn't too bad considering the amount of flavor/meat and the size of the burrito. It was a nice good size that was filling. I ended up sharing half trying each. I especially like the chorizo and would opt over the bacon. However, they both tasted good. Definitely would come here again as the portion is considerably good compared to other breakfast burrito places.

Are the burritos actually $24? Does it come with sides?

Burritos are $16, $17.64 with tax. They come with chips and two salsas but if you’d like a couple more, we’d be more than happy to add them!

I thought it was a full sit-down restaurant, but it's more like a cafe you can walk up and order from, and either sit at their bar area or outside at any of the tables. Regardless, service was pleasant enough. I got a chicken Caesar wrap and a Sakura matcha, and both were delicious. I loved the floral flavor of the Sakura matcha, and the wrap was fresh and flavorful. This is a great spot to grab a quick bite and coffee from, and I would totally come back if I'm in the area.

As I was working through my message, I had the idea to include a visual illustration--a charcuterie setup to represent the abundant life Jesus offers. Right away, I thought of Alex and Olivia at Joliet Cafe. I've enjoyed Joliet Cafe for years-- whether I've come by in the day to get delicious coffee, or enjoyed the restaurant on a romantic night out with the wife - the food is always outstanding. Alex is truly a masterful chef! So just a couple of weeks before Easter, I reached out with this idea. Not only was he open to it, but he took the time to understand the vision and bring it to life. On the day of, Alex arrived early and prepared a beautiful, abundant "feast" that fit the message perfectly. It didn't just look incredible--it tasted amazing. After the service, we placed the charcuterie next to our lunch table, and it was gone quickly! So many people commented on how delicious and well-presented everything was. I share all this to say: Alex's professionalism, creativity, skill, and flexibility make him an incredible choice for charcuterie boards, catering, or any culinary service. He truly delivers--and you will not be disappointed. Thank you again for helping make Easter such a meaningful and special day!

Therefore, I have to come and take advantage right? Well, I was able to order both tacos keto style (Dallas Fort Worth variety) and have their contents put in these cute cups. This isn't your…read moretraditional taco stand - it's definitely a more modern, hipster take on Texas-style breakfast tacos. But they execute it pretty well. One of my favorite morning routines is grabbing a coffee from Blue Bottle next door, then settling in at HomeState with my two favorite breakfast tacos: the Guadalupe and Don't Mess with Texas. Guadalupe - 4/5. I always order this on a corn tortilla. It comes with eggs, chorizo, and cheese, and the ingredients are decent. The portion is generous, with plenty of fluffy eggs that are cooked just right - not overdone or runny. The cheese melts nicely into the eggs, creating a good texture. The chorizo is decent, though it's the weakest component of an otherwise excellent taco. Also, I realized that the portion of chorizo has shrunk over the years. Don't Mess with Texas - 4/5. I'm generally not a fan of refried pinto beans, but this taco completely won me over. The combination of beans, bacon, potatoes, and cheese works surprisingly well, especially with the salsa verde. The flavors come together beautifully, making this one of the more satisfying breakfast tacos on the menu. I've tried a few of their other breakfast tacos, and they're all good. Still, I always find myself coming back to these two. HomeState offers two house salsas roja and verde, both with a brighter, more acidic profile than what you'd typically find at a taco shop. Usually that would be a bit problematic for regular tacos, but that acidity pairs well with the rich breakfast tacos. My only complaint is that I wish they packed more heat. Hot sauces are available, but I'd rather the house salsas bring the spice on their own. Even so, they're flavorful and complement the tacos well. Overall, I like my Blue Bottle coffee + 2 breakfast tacos combination, and will continue eating here.
