Fast and friendly service. Portions were plentiful. Clean and decorative. It was a full pour on my wine.

We have had good experiences with our take out orders. They…read moreare a very busy restaurant, given they are really the only Mexican restaurant in Waterville. They are so busy, at times, they do not accept take out orders. We ordered take out and there was a line right to the door waiting to be seated. The tables were full and it was not even 5pm on Saturday. The waiting area is decent, but can get crowded in the front hallways section. The restaurant is a bit dark, in fact, we had a hard time reading the receipt in the waiting area to complete it. Plenting of seating, a lot of booths. Very clean. LOL The staff members were definitely hustling - moving quickly to serve and clear tables and address people getting take out (us). The food tastes fresh and not overly seasoned. I was surprised at how mild, almost dull some of the meats were, with the exception of the delicious chorizo chimichanga. The pulled pork and the chicken, definitely needed the sauces and salsas that come with it. Warning, if you are not fan of cilantro, you may want to ask before ordering, as some of the items have it automatically added and cooked with it. There is plenty of food with every order, including chips and salsa to go. We definitely will be back and hope to have dinner at the restaurant sometime.

Went in this past Saturday for an early Mother's Day lunch. Seated promptly, ordered frozen…read moremargaritas. Given a basket of cold chips and salsa. Drinks came some time later and for the first time in my adult life - I sent mine back. No hint of lime nor tequila. It was like a flavorless snow cone. Food finally came and the food wasn't what we ordered. Close enough. Blandest "authentic Mexican" food you'll ever eat. Service was sporadic, building needs a paint job, but the waitress was nice. Probably won't go back.

I went to here with my friend last week on our way back from a wedding at Sugarloaf Mountain. We…read morehad initially drove by this place, and decided to keep on going because we assumed it was yet another dispensary on these rural Maine roads. I got a falafel roll, and it was very, very nice. They seemed to read my mind and make about half of it pickled onions. I also tried their kombucha, which was definitely not as good as I was hoping for. Their cornbread, which has maple on top (or something similar, I can't recall) was also not as good as I was expecting it to be. The bathroom is difficult to find and it is bike themed once you get in there. There were not many people at the place and it still took a long time to get the food, but we were not in a hurry so this was totally fine by us and we got to enjoy their lovely seating area outside. I would go back to this place, but if there was anywhere else in this town that looked as good as this place did, I would probably try that first next time. They wraps were, however, fantastic.

Margarita was just what the Doctor ordered! Don't hesitate to get there, don't do a random drive past; drive right in! Oh and we watched a Monarch butterfly on the neighboring flowers; an incredible apres' sugarloaf chairlift treat on this glorious summer like day in October ;)

Well... this is the type of place I would usually just move on, forget about, not review. But I had…read moreheard cushnoc was opening a cantina up the river and I've enjoyed their downriver establishment before, so I was excited enough to be slightly disappointed. It's still new, so there is still hope for them, but I don't think this place will last unless some things change. So here are my details... The prices are not very good, especially for the sizes. If they had counter service/seat yourself instead of table service, I might be able to get behind the prices, but with an added 20%+ expected tip, the experience didn't seem worth it. I can get better, bigger tacos for less money in cities that are typically more expensive like Portland. I can also get nice meals for reasonable prices right across the street here in Waterville. If I want to visit Cushnoc in particular, I would go to Augusta, where the establishment has a clear vibe, with better food, service, and prices. So realistically I don't see myself choosing Cushnoc Cantina again over other options. The atmosphere here was nice, decor was pleasant and clean, but didn't give an identity to the space. Cushnoc says this is NOT a Mexican restaurant, and I believe that after my visit. But then, what is it? But we were seated at a table placed directly where two benches came together, so I was seated on the lip of two benches, which was uncomfortable. It did not seem like the staff even realized things like this and other details about their space, their seating plan, etc. Our waitress was also clearly new to waitressing and was timid, which isn't a huge issue, but was indicative of a new establishment that has not found its groove. Now for the food, we had Cantina Tots, which was a favorite. The Tajin made them very salty, but the crisp tots with the fresh cotija cheese was great. I did notice cotija was not listed as an ingredient pf this item on the menu though, so not sure if this is what I would get each time. Next, we ordered the Esquites Caesar, which I was looking forward to because I have previously enjoyed the Caesar at Cushnoc in Augusta and I figured it would be a fun twist on that. Sadly, it was smaller for more $, the pork belly was chewy not crispy, it was dressed very lightly, and the flavor of the dressing was very light/bland. We also ordered several tacos. When I went to order fish tacos, the waitress apologized and said she forgot to let us know they were out of fish. They were able to make the taco with shrimp instead, which was nice, but we would have appreciated learning about this when seated rather than after selecting what we wanted to order. All the tacos were decent, though small. Many of the flavor profiles were innovative, with flavor profiles from cuisines other than typical Spanish/mexican influences. The carnitas was our favorite! We also liked the Beer-ia, but it was a bit cold. TLDR: they're new, haven't found their identity, and I'll be interested to see if they're able to last. I unfortunately am not planning to go back anytime soon.
