This is a nice little Mexican restaurant way out off boulder hwy. It stands alone on a dusty lot, you wouldn't even know it was there. My family used to come here frequently for dinner but we decided to just come for an early lunch. At night, the place is almost always packed but you can still manage to find a seat even though it's on the smaller side. It's nothing fancy but plain and simple Mexican food, which is why you come here. For lunch, there was no one there and it was quiet, which was kinda weird. Food: the food is great! I know I'm crazy, but I really just love their rice and beans and a tortilla to go along. Everything I've had there has been consistent and tastes good. They give a huge basket of chips with salsa. The chips are on the thinner side and the salsa is very tomato dense, not too hot but not too mild. I like it! Every person I have met who works at El Torito is super friendly and nice to be around. read more

Awesome. Taquitos remind me of the original taquito in San Diego - El Indio The salsa for the chips was fantastic. Not absolutely sure, but I believe the chips are made in house. Waitress recommended the carnitas and it did not disappoint. Finally, to top it all off, we had the flan. Very Mexican and delicious. Highly recommended. I'd prefer to give it a 3.5 star rating, which is exactly what their current average is. I've gotten take-out orders from them a couple times now. The food has been good, portion OK for the price. I'm somewhat new to the area, and the best way to sum-up my view of El Torito is that if I don't feel like Taco Bell or Del Taco (I'm sure they cringe to be compared to those places...) but want decent Mexican food to-go, or for a sit-down Mexican food meal at a place that's a little quieter than Taco bell or Del Taco, I'd go to El Torito. I'm also happy to keep trying other Mexican places around Henderson in-order to make an educated decision on what will be my local "go-to" Mexican sitdown type place. Based on the number of cars in their parking lot each time I've driven by, it's a fairly popular, but not packed, place. It's in a kind of curious little area off Boulder Highway, near some failed businesses. When a take-out order is made on-line, an estimated time it will be ready is provided. At 6:50PM on a Tuesday evening, the estimated ready time was 20-30 minutes after I placed the order, however the reality was the food wasn't ready until about 35 minutes after the order was placed. In the couple times I've placed take-out orders, it's always taken the full amount of the predicted time, plus often another couple minutes beyond it. Not a huge deal, but something to consider if you're really hungry or have people waiting back at home for the food. read more

This is so hard for me to low star, but.. just sayin, truth be told. The server was sweet and friendly. She's been there for 24 years and really shined. The complimentary Chips and Salsa were great. Endless bowls of that. Our water glasses were always full. My husband had a Taco Salad in the shell, I had a Chicken Chimichanga A La Carte. His salad was so boring, no dressing, canned chicken was salty, with shredded iceberg lettuce, barely any beans in the bottom and two little teeny slivers of tomato. Side of ok guacamole (store bought?) and sour cream. My Chicken Chimichanga was a large flour tortilla kind of fried with melted cheese. Inside was canned shredded unseasoned tasteless chicken, NOTHING else inside, seriously where is the Chimi part of this boring burrito? Had a side of the same guac and sour cream. I took the salsa from the chips and salsa and poured it on my chimi. That helped. They brought our tablemate the wrong order, so she had to wait for hers to be made. No refund or nothing for the long wait. Oh and it's not cheap. El Pollo Loco and Rubio's better food better price. Other than that, the place has nice ambiance and I love it's family owned. This place is a straight up dive. HOWEVER!! The enchiladas are the biz!! I came here once before and tried their fajitas and wasn't really impressed, but a friend of mine loves this place so I thought I'd give it a second try. Their salsa is ok. Chips are decent. I didn't love the soup so much (can't remember the name but it had some meatballs in it). But the cheese enchiladas are delicious! I was shocked! I'm here for it. The reason for the 3 star is mostly the service. While it's friendly enough I feel like they're a bit under staffed which has people running in all directions. You can easily drive past this place and think nothing of it, STOP. This is the "hole in the wall" Mexican food everyone is always hunting for but can rarely find. Fresh, traditional, and has been run by the same family since it opened decades ago. I went to this place years ago as a child with my grandmother and going back made me feel as if I was there with her. I was very pleased that they still had the same great food. The salsa is AMAZING. If you get the burrito get it wet. Taquitos are stuffed with actually meat, no fillers. Guacamole is actually avocado, not runny watery etc. read more

I generously gave this place another try since it's right by my house. I hoped that it had improved since I'd been there before but it hasn't. If I could only give 0 stars...The chips still taste like they've been cooked in old, slightly burnt oil , chimichanga is so bland and the meat tastes old. Enchiladas are a complete failure according to my hubby. It's such a shame but I guess that they don't care because we are a captive audience down here in southern Henderson. This location is a hidden gem right off in Henderson and it is a great spot for my family and I to come to. One day, we were feeling lucky to grab some Mexican food and decided to check this place out together for lunch. I thought the portions were delicious and there was so much food in each meal that we could definitely share it as family style or even left-overs to go! I would never think of coming into this place from the outside only because I would not know what goes on from the outside, but it was absolutely delicious and great on the inside. The sauce was excellent and the food was great! I did enjoy the portions and I am a huge sucker for Mexican food. I went to this cafe to eat and was racially profiled by the staff. I usually do not like to affect the income of anyone or any business. However, I went to the El Torito Cafe and was not waited on whatsoever. I am African American! I just wanted to eat. I went into the cafe and stood in line literally in the front of the line. One waitress walked towards the line and waved people that were behind me to sit down anywhere they wanted. The people saw what she was doing and said, " no this lady was first". The waitress still made no effort to seat me. I looked at the situation and decided that I did not want to eat there. I was never acknowledged or waited on whatsoever! So, if you are African American want to eat at the El Torito Cafe be careful and do not expect fair service. If I could give them a zero I would without event eating there. read more

Worst microwaved food ever Chips were stale and rubbery! I I ordered chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and I got the same stale chips with over hard eggs with some kinda cheese sauce and red sauce . ordered a chili verde burrito all meat and when we were served my burrito was swimming in a pond of soupy verde sauce. It was impossible for me to hold my burrito cause the tortilla was so soaked. My wife had the taco salad. It looked so small and the regular ingredients that was in it looked like crap. If you want a Taco salad simple fast food joints like Taco Bell or Del Taco make better quality ones. And the server was very rude when I asked her about my watered down burrito challenging me and raising her voice that got a few customer's attention that made me feel embarrassed like it was my fault that I ordered all meat with no beans in it. I ordered through postmates. I received someone else's order. The thing i did order were so far horrible the relleno did not have a good flavor and the sauce is way too thick. The beans and rice were all squished together and the tacos were so greasy and disgusting. I asked for tacos to be basically plain no cheese or lettuce 2 had cheese I said meat and tortilla only they put onions and cilantro on too. Overall very very bad. Totally forgot my plain tamale. In town for the week and took my friend out for dinner for her birthday. She loves this place. I found it ok. We sat right away, and had 3 different servers ask us immediately if we were ready to order. Hadn't even looked at menu as we were chatting. They said, "close your menu and I'll be back." It look awhile for someone to come back after menus were closed. The menu was limited in choices. I ordered a carnitas burrito with no pico de gallo, and asked to add rice to burrito. Plate came with rice and beans on plate, and just carnitas, cheese, and beans in a folded over burrito. The carnitas flavor was good, but it was more of a boiled pork and not crispy carnitas. Not a fan of their rice- bland!!! Probably won't go back. Spent $45 on my burrito, 2-item combo, iced tea and margarita. Wasn't impressed with my meal. read more

Best little place on the the edge of Hendertucky (Henderson). Everyone is Family here and all are welcome. This is our Saturday morning hot spot. It nice to have a normal great cup of Coffee. The Mexican Breakfast with green sauce is my favorite dish. Portions are generous. Prices are reasonable. Staff is extremely Friendly ( Lucy always has big Smile). Yes, we went out for Mexican on St. Patrick's Day being the true Irish that we are! It was a busy Friday night and they did amazing! The food was on point along with the margaritas, however our server Freddie was the pinnacle of the experience. We had a large table for a family get together with a newborn and a two year old and Freddie was funny, friendly and great at his job. We will be back and will request Freddie as our server, order more margaritas, and fill the craving for their chili relleno! read more

This place is the best! If you like Chile Rellanos... Absolutely, hands-down the best Chile Rellanos in Las Vegas. My other favorite is their pork enchiladas. I get the Chili Rellano sauce on my pork enchiladas and it is amazing. But El Torito's standout rice is going to keep you coming back for more (and more and more). I always order an extra side or two of rice to enjoy with my leftovers and it is amazing to go in homemade stuffed bell peppers. Local, family and business with delicious food. I've been wanting to eat at this place for the longest time. Finally the wife was in the mood to try a new mexican food place. And it wasn't worth it all. To make it worse the day we do go they were having issues with the orders was there more than an hour. Typically I wouldn't have stayed but I wanted to try the food and we really didn't have plans. The enchiladas not good. The wife got a taco salad , el pollo loco has a better salad. On the other hand Customer service was great. My last review of El Torito was 8 years ago. I haven't been back for some time. We went in last night for a quick taco and margarita. The margarita was more like a glass of mixer no tequila. Ordered a shot to add to it then it was fine. I got the ground beef taco that I always get and it did not disappoint. By far my most favorite taco in the whole area. It's simple but super delicious. Also had the albondigas (meatball soup) which was as good as I remembered. No complaints on the food. I love that is is family owned for 3 generations. I've had many encounters with Gia ( part of the family) and she is an awesome person excellent service skills. Our server was great. Very nice guy. Ok so why the two stars???? I say this with all due respect to the owners and staff: When we were seated in one of the booths I was shocked to see how very dirty the cloth backrest to the booths were. I mean really really dirty. Like there were multiple food fights in here. Obviously that's not the case but I was shocked to see the whole place looking really dingy. Mens bathroom lights were out. Tables were sticky. Just made me really sad to see such a great place look so awful. Please Denise or Gia do something about this. This place deserves to be cleaned. read more

Super cute little building. & the staff are so accommodating, & patient. Love the atmosphere of this place. This was my first time I'll definitely be going back. The food was sensational! I said I paid for delivery because I couldn't drive. They didn't care. They didn't offer to replace it in the future, give a partial refund or anything.
