On a super packed to the rafters 'Taco Tuesday,' I'm sitting in the bar savouring a ' Skimmy' BlackBerry Cadillac Margy - the waitperson is hustling his ass off - and everything is groovy. College basketball is on in the bar - I'm glad i just stopped by - as are the close to 100 folks in the place. Good food, sublime service and damn good Margys. A trifecta-- Long Live El Torito ! The food was OK but service was phenomenal. We came in for happy hour and the margaritas were not strong at all. We had to order another shot for them to taste even remotely decent. We also ordered the spicy cucumber margarita which ended up being delicious. read more

Yesterday, Sunday, We arrived approximately at 4:30pm no one at the hostess front area. A server said someone will be with you shortly to the many people waiting to be acknowledged. The hostess arrived to her the couple that had two cakes. She walked one cake back then eventually came back then walked the other cake back. Meanwhile we are waiting still. About 15 min pass. Finally she is able to tend to us. She seats us in the back of restaurant. The server doesn't come by for about another 15 minutes. We ordered. The Mexican Cesar salad came with one small dressing. My Husband asked for another to the server. He said ok. Meanwhile the food shows up and my husband asks for another jalapeño jelly dipping salsa as well. The server still has not brought our daughter's soup either, but her food already arrived. We called for the manager and notified him of the requests and the soup that hadn't come yet. He said oh we charge for the extra sauce and dressing. This was a real shocker to us! We have never been charged before. We declined them. Finally soup came out. We used to enjoy coming to this location. They have lost our business. This is the worse customer service experience we have had there. El Torito you need to do better!! read more

I am so delighted with the service at this Hawthorne location. I went for Sunday brunch and everything from the ambiance , service and food was perfect. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the hostess Nayeli. She was so darling and sweet , she really knew how to handle the busy crowd. She then seated us with the server Jaime who was just as pleasant. Very fast and great service. Everyone was very attentive Including their manager Juana. I will definitely be back , the staff is great and they don't hesitate to answer any questions you might have about the food being served , especially for brunch! read more

I don't come here very often, but when I do, the food is usually pretty good. I remember getting steak enchiladas which were really good and the service was efficient and fast. I went on a Thursday or Friday so I didn't get the great opportunity to enjoy taco Tuesday, but when I do go on Tuesdays the tortillas are freshly made before your eyes, definitely suggest this place. Update: Recently I went to el torito and the customer service was not good but not bad. It seemed like our server was never around and also lazy. I ordered a corn on the cob on taco Tuesday and she said "I'm on break but she'll give you the corn over there", before ordering the corn I didn't know she went on break and made no effort to ask or inform another employee we were there. read more

Be careful when ordering on the phone. Placed an order on the phone and the manager forgot to place our order. Upon arrival they didn't know what we were talking about. The girl at the front desk was rude. Still has the nerve to argue. On top of that the manager glasses pick shirt didn't even apologize or acknowledge they forgot the order. They were good but tasted like there was no alcohol in them. $4 El Jimador Shots. We needed many of these. We ordered food from the Happy Hour Menu as well. The fries were soggy. BBQ pork sliders were whatevers. 3/5. Not bad but not great either. Chicken wings: 3/5. Mini Steak Tacos: So salty. I couldn't even finish 1 out of 4. Tried to give them a try for lunch, sign says they open at 11am, lights are on and people are moving around in the back of the restaurant but the doors are still locked at 1110 am. Don't have time to wait for restaurants to decide if they are going to open at the advertised time or maybe later. read more

I m disappointed in El Torito Marina Del Rey. I visited the location about a month and a half ago on a Saturday. The food was delicious. The margaritas were delicious. I had the taco enchilada combo wi rice and beans. I went today & had the same meal and it was just mediocre. The bacon wrapped shrimp were delish though. (That's y they got a review of 3 stars ) The waitress was visiting with some friends (that I guess previously worked there ) at the table across the way ...she was nice and pleasant however not timely in serving us the things we asked for .. I.E. salt & pepper, she didn't bring appetizer plates for the appetizer , forgot the Ala Carte cheese enchilada; mommy had to take it to go. The restaurant wasn't crowded. The manager happened to b walking the floor & asked how everything was & I advised him I was disappointed... he went on to talk abt maybe next time the food will b different/better because they will b changing things on the menu.. I m still trying to figure out what that had to do with the food I was eating today. I don't know if I'll come back and give them a third try. ...not for a while anyway. read more

They gave me a piece of dry meat, not carne asada. It looked like dry pate with grill marks. I asked the waiter (nice guy) what type of meat it was. First off there was a 30 minute wait time, but there was seating outside while you wait. When seated we were rushed to order waiter kinda rude. I ordered Carne asada and shrimp medium well. Maybe if he took the time to listen my steak would have been cooked that way, but instead it was over cooked, dry, but seasoned well. Also my plate looked nothing like the picture in the menu. My shrimp were dry as well. Debra ordered the bbq burrito with pork. No bbq sauce on the inside and from what I seen there was very little pork a whole lot of onions and beans. Yuk.. the birthday girl was happy with her plate. I loved the hot chips and salsa, but they expected 3 people to share that tiny basket of chips and the very small bowl of salsa. This place is pretty disappointing, but I'm here for happy hour so I guess you can't expect a lot? There was a difference between what you expect and what you receive. I have some photos for comparison. I ordered the papas calientes and they just taste like garlic fries. Nothing special. I also ordered the Rumorosa sliders and they look like they do in the picture, but the meat is cold. Pretty disappointed in the quality of service at the bar. came here the last 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday). on Wednesday left earlier than I was planning to because my serve gave me my bill 2 times without me asking for it so after the second time I decided to leave. on Thursday they have extended happy hour for thursday night football but they don't even have the games playing. I asked for the game to he turned on but they never turned it on. my server didn't know how to work the remotes or try to find the correct ones and instead of asking someone else or the manager he just gave up. I had asked for water 3 times and I never received any water. on the website says to join them for happy hour in their cantina but then they dont have any happy hour menus in their cantina. music is low and it's just too quiet. never have a host at the front when you walk in. read more

I came here the day before my 30th birthday. My good friend brought me here. I love breakfast and Mexican food! So you can guess my excitement when we walked in the door......omelet bar, tacos, mimosas and tequila. The price is awesome! When you pay for your brunch buffet, it includes an alcoholic drink. Christopher and the staff here are very kind and will treat you like family. I also wanted to say thank you to the manager, Karen, for putting out free toys to the kids. This is one my favorite Mexican Restaurants! I use to frequent this particular El Torito when I was much younger. It was delicious then and even more delicious now that I'm older (46yrs). Be it that it's in a shopping center, when inside you don't get that feeling at all. Today our Waitress was Rosa and she made our visit that much more enjoyable. She made sure that our food came out hot and the kitchen did an awesome job keeping the taste that I remembered. I ordered the Burrito Especial still THE BEST THING ON THE MENU lol lol! Ok it's not I'm sure but it's certainly MY favorite. Upon getting our receipt, Rosa brought to our table two chocolate covered strawberries... just a minute I'll show y'all in a second lol lol! Visited this location for dinner on a Monday night. Service was adequate and food was satisfactory. This location was not quite as nice as others. The restaurant seemed to be empty, yet the service was very slow. The appetizer was timely, but the rest of the food took about 30 minutes after ordering to arrive. We ordered the nachos with steak as an appetizer, which was good. Entrees were the sizzling enchiladas and combo plate which were okay. And flan and cheesecake to go for dessert.
