Wait times are horrible, I've been in here to pick up my to-go order and not a host/hostess in sight. I was about to take out my phone and call them to say "hey, you got a line of people waiting here by the front door!" when a host finally arrived. I've eaten here before in the dining room and service was no better, servers would often disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time, food finally arrives lukewarm and/or cold, etc. Just a sign that management simply does not care at all. If it wasn't for the tourists from nearby hotels and Monday night alcoholics, this place would be out of business. read more

BEWARE Don't ever come to this establishment! The server tried to rip us off -we gave him two methods of payments, so he charged everything on the card and tried to take $60 as his tip. Luckily we paid attention, we had to correct him and he later returned to us with the right receipt but with with No change! On top of this, the kids never received the dessert that was supposed to come with their meal. We went home and had to drive all the way back when we looked at our bank account- it was still charged entirely on our card so we had to talk to the manager Donald. He did nothing. He explained it would all work out on Monday, but there was really no guarantee. After talking to the main representative of this El Torito, I realized how much I resent and despised the way this restaurant treats its customers. We nearly got ripped off $100, our kids were not served the full meal we paid for, and management didn't really care to comp anything. Don't come here unless you are prepared to watch your own back. Worst service I have ever experienced. I will not be coming back. Not only did I have to find someone to take our order after sitting at the table for twenty minutes with my two year old son who was starving, wasn't even offered chips or water. When I placed our order she didn't even know what a salad was? Really?! And fought my husband who ordered the all you can eat tacos telling him he could only order one protein at a time, you get two tacos at a time you can't have one be chicken and the other beef. It's either chicken or beef you can not mix. We knew this not to be true we had eaten here before and never had any problems besides slow service. Almost 45 minutes go by no salad and our drinks and chips are empty even though she walked past us four times saying our food is coming. My son is uncontrollable by now besides our best efforts to keep him quiet and sitting down. Come on now it shouldn't take more than a hour to get some tacos or a salad. Our dinner comes (still no salad) and new drinks finally! My son in his thirst spills a drink while I was telling our server we have enough we want the check and to please box it up to go. I get our bill they did knock off the cost of one meal so I pay the bill in my haste to get out of there. I look over the bill in the car I was charged for items we didn't even ordered. Don't feed your baby rice cause there's chicken bones in it. Horrible, inconsistent cooks. Had to send my fajitas back twice and then was going to a 3rd time gave up. The last time I came here the Fajitas had red peppers and was actually hot when I got it and had extra corn cake because I can't eat beans. And good service. All smiling and friendly. Why are you rude when we are not, You didn't cook it , Maybe you should cook it, if you can't cope with food being made wrong. And she tries to be all friendly with the check to get a tip..little to late..The food needs to not have potato's in it too. Why potato's anyway. I want Mexican food with stuff in it that's in the menu not something I can be allergic too. Surprise!! we filled it with something not on the menu and cheaper out on the bell peppers..The time before I had tomatoes and green and red bell peppers ..you know nothing john snow.. We have dined at El Torito in Burlingame before but we decided to dine in the Milpitas location due to the fact that my sister lives in the South Bay. Our server, Angel arrived at our table as soon as we were seated and asked us for our drink order. He was not pleasant and did not look like he wanted to answer my mother's questions in regards to the mix drinks. He returned with our drinks and asked us if we were ready to order, my mother had a few questions and again he was cold and unresponsive to her questions. I asked myself what is the point of having a server if he is not willing to help and answer our questions. When our food was delivered he did not show up to ask if everything was fine and if we needed anything else. My brother in law was not even given a fork to eat his food, luckily the utensil basket was near me where I just grabbed him a fork myself. This was just the start of the horrible experience. We were tempted to ask for another server, but like many people we were afraid of the repercussions of wait staff doing something to our food, so we just toughed it out. After we paid the bill, my sister brought our concerns to the Manager on duty, Oscar to make him aware of the situation so that he can address it with the waiter. We just don't want others to go through this service, it is unacceptable. My sister informed me that the Manager was unprofessional and looked like he did not care, where he even looked like he wanted to laugh at her. read more

I came here on a Thursday night with some co-workers for happy hour. We got there around 5:30PM and the place was already crowded. The Giants were playing that night so I was worried that we wouldn't be able to find a table close to the TV. However there were TVs in almost every corner of the restaurant. So I was happy. The margaritas and beer were only $3. Their appetizers were half off. We got unlimited chip and salsa. Definitely a good place for happy hour especially on a game night. read more

Wow I thought My friend and I would give this place another chance but I could not believe the attitude. I ordered a number 5combo and the green pepper was so hot I could not eat anything else. The waiter told the manager and they only offered a slight discount on the two meals. $6.95off the bill. I left and went home feeling really sick, Merry xmas to us. The concept of karaoke nights is awesome! Makes the whole vibe at El Torito fun, hip, great for a Friday or Saturday night out. I really enjoyed the service here; they were very attentive and even though we had a massive group (roughly 20 people), they accommodated our needs and were efficient in getting all of our orders in. Quick in getting the seemingly never-ending chips&salsa and the appetizers out, although I think that the main dishes came out about 30 minutes late.. I don't blame them though; it was a chaotic Friday night when we came. I adored the Tortilla salad and Chicken Quesadilla though.. mmmm. Tortilla salad included crunchy tortilla chip bits, the actual lettuce itself, tomatoes, and this very flavorful green dressing that reminded me of a lighter version of pesto. Went along perfectly with the Chicken quesadilla, 4 mini (but not that mini) quesadillas with the chicken breasts grilled to perfection. I'm thoroughly impressed. read more

But i wasn't very impressed with the tostada grande the last two times i went there. The salad was so soggy and the steak pieces were very chewy. Came here for a late lunch with my friends on a Saturday. I was really surprised at how empty the restaurant was, especially on a Saturday! So anyways, we walked in ... greeted by the hostess and seated right away. We were seated in a great spot with no one else surrounding us, which was awesome because we had the whole section to ourselves! My toddler loved it as it gave her plenty of space to explore and we didn't have to worry about her bothering anyone or someone snatching her up. Our waitress was also really awesome! So friendly and attentive! We ordered and our food came out fast and steaming hot! We totally underestimated the amount of food we'd get from the trio menu (appetizer-- soup or salad, meal, and small dessert for about $12!). We were all full from just the salad (and one friend had soup). All in all, great experience! I really appreciate that they didn't rush us out even after we finished our meals, and the waitress even told us we can stay for as long as we'd like because they wanted us to enjoy ourselves and understand that we probably don't get chances like this to hang out often (which is true, because my friends and I see each other like once or twice a month due to the kids and busy schedules). Sorry guys, but your food quality has gone downhill lately. I think the best thing I had there was the chips and salsa and the corn cake. First off, I ordered the sizzling shrimp combo and when the waiter brought it out, it was wrong. Apparently, my waiter thought I ordered sizzling chicken enchiladas. He took it back only to bring it wrong AGAIN! This time, my skillet had one chicken enchilada and the shrimp fajitas but no taco. I asked for the taco and he brought me the taco with a side of beans and rice. I asked for flour tortillas and he brought me corn tortillas. I stopped complaining at this point and just ate the rest of my beans and took the rest to go. My mom ordered a three item combo with a cheese enchilada which was cold and hard, a taco and a flauta. The rice on my dish and my moms dish was undercooked. I spoke to the manager to which he comped my moms meal. Overall, not a very good experience. read more

We had a wonderful experience for my father in law's 80th birthday!!! The staff was so warm and friendly!! The singing was amazing! Araceli Soltero was so very helpful, and lovely! Our daughter is on a gluten free diet, so it is sometimes hard to eat out. Araceli made it very easy for us. She couldn't be more accommodating! We loved her! We will definitely be visiting again!!! I was here the other day with some friends for lunch. It wasn't crowed at all, so we thought we would be able to get our food fairly fast and wouldn't have any problem. However, we did have some problem. The waiter took our order and thought he could remember it. Maybe about 5-10 minutes after taking our order he comes back asking us what our order was again. If you can't remember the orders then I suggest you write them down. After all that he even gave my friends the wrong orders. The waiter asked US if we were ready for our ice cream and we told him yes, he didn't come back with them for like 10-20 minutes. Then asking for the bill it took like another 20 minutes. So our total time of being there waiting for our food was like 2 hrs. Funny thing thought it seems like the menu at El Torito is the same as Chevy's. We went there on a Sunday night, not busy at all yet the service was horrible. The food quality was decent, the Coconut Margarita was good and the beer was cold enough to enjoy, but again, service was horrible. We were waited on by four different servers who we never knew who our actual waiter was. The first one was a lady who took our drink order and we never saw her again. Had to order the appetizer from the person who brought us the drinks and then we never saw him again. Someone else came to drop off our appetizer and took our food order. He came back with our food but didn't see him again until we were walking out of the restaurant. After 20 minutes of waiting after we were done with our meal, we had to go look for someone to close out our bill so what we could pay and leave. During those 20 minutes, we saw a gentleman walk up to the bar, sit there for about 10 minutes with no bartender to be found. He kept looking around and then decided to leave. Maybe it was the day or the time, but management needs to be more attentive to its customers. read more

I only go here for Happy Hour.......and when i crave margaritas. Outside of drinking margaritas to kingdom come, i also eat their sampler dishes. They are definitely worth it at 5-6 dollars a plate.(price vs quality). The margaritas are quite good. However there are times when you cant taste the alcohol (RIP OFF!!) and other times when you definitely can. Its a great experience if you go with some good friends or co workers or mind readers. Just keep in mind that you should control your drinking as you are in milpitas! If you dont think you can drive there's plenty of places to walk around too in that plaza! I was on my way to the Great Mall and decided some Mexican food sounded good. I had never been to this particular location before but had passed it many times. The lunch buffet looked quite good..a nice selection of fruits, salads, soup and for the entrees they had Carnitas, Grilled Chicken, Grilled Steak, Chile Colorado, Chicken Veracruz, Cheese Enchiladas with rice, beans and fresh tortillas grilled to order.(I'm sure I'm forgetting some items) Overall a nice selection and something for everyone at $9.99 (Beverage NOT Included). I didn't feel hungry enough for the buffet so I just ordered a taco plate which was very good. My server was excellent. I was sat at a table in sort of an alcove room and I was the only party in there but she never forgot me..always checking on my chips and salsa and beverage and food. I asked her if I could sample a piece of Chile Colorado off the buffet so I would know for my next visit If I would like it. She brought me a small bowl and it was delicious. Service is terrible: we asked for more chips and salsa 15 minutes ago....which we wouldn't have needed if our food were bought out on a timely manner.
